this guy is over rated... WE GOT MICHAEL OHER... THE BEST LINEMAN IN THE DRAFT AT PICK 24... OHER WAS RUNNER UP FOR ROOKIE OF THE YEAR.. BALTIMORE RAVENS 4 LIFE
I was baffled when the Lions took Stafford over Jason Smith. Jason Smith & Monroe were right there with the talent of Joe Thomas and etc. This could have been a future OT alone with them drafting more offensiveline in the draft. But then again, this is the LIONS.
Lets hope he does good. Alex Barron was suppose to be a beast but hasn't done anything yet. And ramsfan don't be comparing jame L. to Urlacher just yet. I think james will be a decent player but not as good as rey maualuga who they passed up on but we will see.
alex barron is for now is the LT and Jason Smith is going to play RT thants sounds kind of dumb to me but thats what the rams plan on doing for this year.
Jason, congratulations on being the first offensive lineman taken in the 2009 NFL Draft. I am a South Carolina resident and sadly remember Baylor and Clemson from the 1979 Peach Bowl (Baylor won). But best of luck with the St. Louis Rams. I know that you are looking forward to August 14 when you all go to New York to play the Jets. I know it will be exciting to return to The Big Apple, this time to play. Good luck.
This my boy jason smith i played football with him back in in Dallas. when we was in middle school . he moves really good cuz he was a TE at first then Doin his thing at W.T White high school. he just has a good feel 4 the game and knos what he needs to do
With the additions of Jason Smith Jason Brown, Mike Carney the O-Line will be WAY better that is the reason im taking Jackson 1st pick in fantasy. If only Alex Barron could prove himself we would have a top tier line. As for James Laurinaitis, i dont think he will be the next Urlacher but more like the next Zach Thomas a very smart player, and better leader then maulaluga would ever be
He will help the O-line like crazy. Jackson should be in the pro bowl again without a problem unless hes hurt again. James L. Will complete our linebacking corp. I think hell be alot like Brian Urlacher.
hes ok better than monroe for sure but not as good as andre if it werent for the combine i think andre would be goin very early this guy is good and watching this the things against texas that was orakpo against him and thats the best to go against and did ok
too small....works hard...cuz he has too. and if he was a spread option pass blocker in college. St Louis is going to run the ball until they can't No Mo
No wonder know one heard of him before the combine. He looks like a physical beast, but his footwork sucks. Many times he is getting overleveraged andf falling on his rear. Why is he considered Top 10???
The Lions could have the #1 overall AND the #3 overall picks, and get stafford AND Smith. it would probly cost them the #33, the #20, and their #1 next year. would that be worth it?
you know that there is a "rookie salary cap" that's just for drafted players, right? granted, i don't know the salary cap situation of the Lions, but i find it hard to believe that the Lions would be in too much cap hell, they've been terrible for the better part of 10 years, how much are they paying people?
yes there is, it's not for "each rookie" but there is a 'rookie pool' that each team has, as part of their salary cap, to get all of their draft picks signed into.
i dont know i see a few holding calls in there its true we need major help at on the o line but im not sure we should go that route with the no 2 pick id like to see them go with a big strong rec to compliment averys speed, crabtree would be my pick with the 2
great talent i expect much from him

I was looking for another J.Smith (rugby league) however thought I'd watch the vid. I like this kid, seems very athletic for his size.
What level of American football is this? I watch NFl but dont see any college stuff, will he turn pro?

I'm a longhorn fan who is happy to see this guy leave the Big 12! He manhandled our stud (and 13th overall pick) Orakpo. Congrats Baylor!

Orakpo was injured when Baylor played at Texas. It was a match up I was looking forward to. We will see it in the NFL soon though.

Uh, Orakpo didn't play against Baylor.

No, thats a bad plan. They would then have no money left to pay anyone. I hope they both can play defence if they do that. Worst idea ever.
