I ran this rapid in a 14-foot Avon with five people at class 6. The falls swallowed the whole boat. Absolutely no buoyancy. Does take more guts than skill. This boat made it because the water is very high. The drop is twice as high in low water
went over it by accident. I thought this was farther down from Galice? Well, all we remember is waiting to
surface. By the time we surfaced we were way down stream. Anyway, we had a great time after the accident. He talked about it for years. RIP Bullard! It doesn't look like much, but
it will literally suck your whole 16' older raft down. I want to go down the river again, but need some friends that are willing to go.
Props, "dininelbourne". I like to see a few people out there keeping the big talking in check. There's plenty of whitewater in the world that makes rapids like this one seem like a massive 4... and no more.
Not that it makes it any easier. Just need to keep the numbers in check. At least once a week I have a customer say they went on class 5 or above. BULLSH#T!!!!
From what I've read this rapid seems over-hyped. I mean it looks fun as fuck but I think the only reason it gets rated V is because of the size of the drop. Virtually no technical maneuvers nor consequences should you flip.
I don't see a strainer but then again this is just one video. But trust me dude, I respect a river. Been rafting in Northern California since I was seven and guiding since I was 14. Just looks like a big drop form this perspective. And on some rapids that is enough to warrant it a class five rating. You ever done Cherry Creek on the Tuolumne? Now that shit is fucking nuts.

This was a 6 when Bruce Bullard and Dan Dunphy
went over it by accident. I thought this was farther down from Galice? Well, all we remember is waiting to

There aren't many things as annoying as people talking about the ratings of rapids that they've never even seen before.
