Maniac in the deathcrush demo was the perfect vocalist, but if you can hear the freezing moon by Per in Live in Leipzig, you can understand the limit and top of Mayhem career, and this shit starts.

Maniac did horrible in Wacken, I agree.

But overall he did a good enough job on the studio albums after Mayhem reunited. Dead did a good job on LiL, and in Morbid too. But I still prefer Maniacs' old whelpish voice on Deathcrush, and I hold him as the inventor of the high pitched screams used by many DBM/SBM bands today. Even though Maniac is sort of washed up now, I don't think Dead would have been any different if he had lived today. An artists voice can change a lot as he grows old.
