I remember getting stoned with my friends and one of them just got a tape of Dropdead (album with a mad monkey on the cover). When he turned it on we had a biggest laughter of our lives with the other friend :D from that time I keep coming back to Dropdead. They're fucking GREAT!
DasWolfsBlood Ha! That's what I first thought about the drummer when I saw Dropdead live in Albany, NY circa `98. Now I live in Providence and I see the guy around town. These days he has hair that's below his shoulders and totally grey! Funny how things change...
what is that ur escuse for not having anything good to say?
you lost, apperently you dont know what ur talking about if you cant even make up your mind on the type of genre of music of a band and music you supposedly know soooo much about.
although wikipedia isn't exactly factual, its edited by a number of users and fans, and dropdead posts a link on the myspace that THEY themselves run, and well, maybe you should read it and see how many times PUNK is mentioned.
You just don't know. You've never seen them, you've never met them, and you obviously have never been to any hardcore shows, because if you did, you would know that it is the DIY PUNK ETHIC AND COMMUNITY that fuels them and their music.
your right i dont know much about dropdead because i dont like them. besides like 2 songs.
but ur completly wrong about the no shows thing.
haha i just saw Lewd Acts, Graf Orlock, DAngers, And Total Chaos 2 days ago.
and I know those arnt this type of hardcore but its still punk and diy.
and besides that ive seen Dead noise, Germ Attak, Subhumans, and tons of other bands that reflect hardcore punk and hardcore punk people involved in the crust and anarcho scenes
regardless of their rep and genre afterwards, they still were the first to use an ACTUAL blast, in the context of aggressive song-writing. you can't argue that.
yeah, but i wanna hear the songs wen they did blasting. im not trying to prove you wrong or argue, i just wanna hear them. i only got the Dealing With It album. but ive heard alot more, just not with blasting before other bands did it,
sorry for the delay. i looked up the link then totally forgot about this, until messrocks89 posted about asocial. but yea, DRI - Makes no Sense. it's on youtube somewhere.
thats a thrash beat. although faster than anything else at the time (i would assume) that's no blast! but yes, very, very relevant! props for bringing them up!
he is right it is powerviolence and also everyone know that grindcore comes from punk as does powerviolence look up bands like spazz charles bronson and u will see good power violence
@ESmaniak Also the fuck grindcore thing is a reference to when Crossed Out played with Dropdead and Los Crudos and they were all incorrectly called grindcore (the flyer said "Grindcore night!") and the singer for Crossed out said "fuck grindcore" because they weren't grindcore.

and when did "punk" bands do fuckin blast beats????
menospeakyenglish 2 years ago
are you kidding me. lots of punk bands especially hardcore punk bands do blast beats. blast beats aren't reserved for metal bands.
oh yeah and this is fastcore/pv. No grind whatsoever.
zachbresl 2 years ago
ok tell me a real punk band that does blast beats?
and not just in one song.
menospeakyenglish 2 years ago
haha well dropdead for one.
there are thousands.
off the top of my head: his hero is gone.
dropdead is a punk band. im sure of it. they are punks. they play punk. just because they don't have 10 inch mohawks doesn't mean they aren't punks.
zachbresl 2 years ago
haha fashion doesnt matter at all man.
dropdead has some punk songs but the majority arnt.
and i thought u just said dropdead was powerviolence and fastcore?
but now their punk?
make ur mind up.
and if theres thousands why havnt i heard any? ive been into punk for a long ass time and ive never heard a real punk band do blast beats.

dude? DRI invented the blast. ...i'm a metalhead and i know that.
detulid 2 years ago
and how many punk albums did DRI have ? 1 or 2? and then tons of other crossover metal albums.
you know what that means?
that means there not real punk if they didnt stick with it.
menospeakyenglish 2 years ago
