The human shield tactic worked before against Israel and it will probably work here too. The drops of leaflets before the bombings, the text messaging, etc means nothing compared to the pictures of dead and wounded women and kids. In a world where most nations are already predisposed to oppose Israel, I see Israel losing any attempt at justifying its actions.
Everyone should do all they can to prevent the suffering of children. Hamas have deliberately brought this on their own people. They fired missiles into Israel which could serve no goal except to invite retaliation and they deliberately site terror installations near hospitals, nurseries etc to reap the propaganda benefit when bombs fall. The Israeli action is wrong, but joining in the ill-informed demonisation of Israel only increases Hamas' profit from destroying their own people.
These deaths were the inevitable consequence of Israel's indiscriminate and disproportionate bombing. In spite of Israels claim that they did not want them to come about THEY DID IT. Nor can responsibility for these DEAD CHILDREN be offset by any prior atrocities committed elsewhere. To the contrary, it is WICKED SOPHISTRY to describe them as causally resulting from the actions of those Israel claims to be targeting. Does being in the wrong place at the wrong time make a child a fair target? SA
NOTHING makes a child a fair target, and nothing can justify putting children in the line of fire to win publicity points. I agree the Israeli response was wrong. But what Hamas has done is to fire missiles at civilians in order to bate a response which can be used on TV at the cost of human life. Saying that one side is responsible for protecting children does not free the other side of responsibility - it's an obligation that comes with membership of the human race.
This is kind of sophistry is intolerable, a bit like the wife-beater exclaiming, "officer, but she made me do it!". No, these latest disproportionate and indiscriminate outrages were COMMITTED by Israel. An end to the offensive and withdrawal of Israeli troops is what UN 1860 now demands. SA
Does innocent children were also terrorists? Cowards¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
