  • I do like Malcolm McDowell so very much!! What a babe and a perfectly fine actor.

  • what a montage!

  • Lol Malcolm McDowll is crazy in this film xD

  • God save the Sex Pistols.

    Wonderful.

  • Excellent montage!

  • Quite unsuitable music until Missa Luba appears at 5:20.

  • Quite unsuitable music until Missa Luba appars at 5:20.

  • A reminder that those psychos at Columbine weren't even being original.

  • @Gmackematix There had been other school shootings before Columbine such as the Texas tower shootings by Charles Whitman. Also unlike Columbine the victims didn't get a chance to shoot back as they did in this movie. But you are right they weren't original just psychotic.

  • Iconic film - great montage

  • Iconic film

  • what you talking about! this is a great montage!

  • I dont understand that movie.

Maybe when i grow up i will, but i just cant even understand how can i come into understanding it.

  • @Carthsting: I like to call this "If", If it had a plot, if it had some meaning. It doesn't, I am now 40, I was 20 when I first saw it. It really doesn't make sence.

  • great movie . fuck i just wish they would release it down under . all we get is crapy john wain shit

  • It's just a coincidence and a bit of a stretch but this piece of music was also used in Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey the same year. Putting that into persective Stanley did put the star of this picture in his most (in)famous role. Again . . . a bit of a stretch but I couldn't helpt but notice.

  • @NeverAloneForever I think you mean Kubrick's "Dr Strangelove" and not "2001: A Space Odyssey" don't you? Also "We'll meet again" is played only in this montage, not the orginal film. Apart from that, it's a fine observation!

  • @Gmackematix I meant the Blue Danube Waltz. Nothin' else really.

Oh yeah, "We'll Meet Again". I should have noticed that.

  • filmed in cheltenham!

  • WELLER FOREVER!

  • What the first sonf please i don't recognize

  • I've always been a little confused with this movie. Do some of these scenes happen in their imagination? And if yes, is that why it is called If..? Like what if we attacked our school?

  • @beccagirl15 I actually agree with that, I think the last scene definatley is their imaginations, I mean who doesn't sit at the back of the class saying "Y'know if we found a big box of maxhine guns we could gun down all our enemies and run this joint!"

  • Hi guys, I'm from Italy. I'm looking for this movie for three years, but I can't find it. Do you know where I can find it on internet? thank u so much!

  • @PennyCute - You can buy it from Amazon.com

  • i am doing about "if" for my film subject, i was just hoping anyone could help me out on all the theams in it? thanks

  • ah yes. lovely. too bad the english have become the ass lickers of the USA.

Even so, one must admit, they are darn good at it.

  • When I first saw this in the 60s, the homoerotic nature of the film completely escaped me.

  • A great tribute to a fantastic film

  • 'Your hair's too long'

The story of my life...hell schooldays......

  • I love this film. very very erotic and funny

  • Fantastic tribute-love this movie!!

  • Nice tribute to a classic British film......keep hoping someone might post it online.......btw Christine Noonan was top totty.

  • @whitekudu

The English have a long history of taking over other peoples' countries. Its about you got a taste of your own medicine.

  • I think you mean the British,it was a British Empire, that includes Scotland and Wales too.

  • shut up you sniffling inferior little fag seems we are still kicking other peoples ass hahahaha

  • Well said!

  • Why do so many of these comments have to be about race and nationalism the thing to ask your self is it a good film was it a good film do you enjoy the clips to me the film was about a young mans fantasy it is not true

  • Is anyone aware that during their punk phase, the group ADAM AND THE ANTS used the theme music to "If" - "Sanctus" - to open their set with on the "Zerox" Ant Tour back in July / August 1979 ?

Although "If" is always very watchable, it still has an air of pretence about it , also

I can never really take upper middle class Public School 'rebels' seriously and it all comes across as a bit of a storm in a tea cup. I find McDowell's character in "A CLOCKWORK ORANGE" far more plausible.

  • Why dont you just grow up?

  • Sorry deported AND killed! lol Bit of a waste of money to deport them first if your just going to kill them when they get wherever your sending them haha.

Obviously you have a very well thought through and informed opinion :)

  • Lol yeah damn if only there wernt so many chinese, russian, african and arabic students at the famous english public schools your 'plan' might work... :P

Seriously though wtf? lol I take it your joking.

  • Beautiful-I loved this-cheers!

  • Beautiful movie, a true masterpiece. Amazing performances. One of my favourite movies too!

  • I'm not gay, but that bobby philips boy is so dam gorgeous. Mmm, he's like an angel, just beautiful.

  • ...golden reams of hair.

  • @xtallyx1 hahahahahahahaha

  • One of my all time favorite movies!!!!!!

  • Sorry but I go to an English all boys boarding school and I can assure you its not the greatest education system the world has ever seen, far from it. Also If.... was made in Britain not America.

  • @dalisback1 Do you really go to an all-boys school? There aren't many left. You should change your school if you're not happy.

  • @dalisback1 How do you know it's not the greatest education system? If you attend an English all boys boarding school you don't attend another type of school,so you don't know if it's better or worse, unless you're willing to take someone else's word for it.

  • I remember staying up late one night in the early 90's and watched this film. Since that night onwards it has always been one of my all time favourite films.

  • Just like my Public School in the late 60's, I was a rebel too.

  • Sadly this film is very true to the boarding school I went to in the 60's.

  • What's the name of the song at the end of this nicely well made montage?

  • £Well meet again" sung by vera lynn

  • Epic. I want to see it now. BTW have you seen Zero for Conduct. That film served as inspiration for this one.

  • would you belive i've never seen this movie? shamefull, isn't it? a good copy has just never crossed my path. but it IS on my 'must watch' list. great montage, by the way.
