I had two Supras...one making around 550hp @ the wheels...and I have an M5 V10. Trust me, the Supra has nothing on the M5, especially off the mark. Even on rolling start, the Supra might take the lead, but the M5/M6 will kill it top end.

You all have to remember, the M5/M6 is a luxury car, it weighs more than the Supra and it's N/A. Yes, a V10, but N/A. The Supra is a good car, if it wasn't I wouldn't have owned two of them, but the M5/M6 wins hands down in all categories, especially quality

So how much would a rebuild for the m6 be compared to a rebuild for the supra. I can probably stroke my supra and put fully forged internals in it for the price of getting a stock rebuild on the bmw. Now granted that is simply based on my knowledge of the v10 engine in the bmw and the technology involved. But I'd say overall the supra is the better of the two cars. The engine is making better volumetric efficiency and there is a reason why those 2jzgte engines can go for more than 200k miles

Given the fact your pushing more than 200hp per liter your really taking life out of that supra motor alot faster then it was intended to in stock form. Just saying shit happens lol

wow so much supra hate on this video. Yes the Supra lost while inching further away from the M6. Yes the Supra broke something. If you are knowledgeable about cars, and about Supras in particular, then you would know that in stock form the Engine and 6sp transmission can handle globs of power RELIABLY ~800-1khp for engine, and ~1200 for transmission. Which is why the 2jZ is such a popular engine swap. So to say the Supra blew its engine at 650HP is unlikely.

Few reasons why it broke I can think of is probably the driver of the Supra was running too much boost, TBH, 620-650WHP on pump gas from a 67mm Turbo is a bit much. Bad ECU/mapping/tuning with pump gas. Or just something minor such as an oil line breaking. Could be anything but point I'm trying to make is that The Supra Engine should not have blown with proper knowledge, tuning. Maybe the Driver wanted the win badly so he therefore turned up the boost and his plan backfired on him.

if u look closely, since the second race in the previous vid, he was having problems changin gears (if im not mistaken from 3rd to 4th, something wrong with the gearbox) thats the only reason the M wasn't destroyed and crushed like it was before!

Guess what: the rules for this event stated that everybody HAD to run pump gas. Which means the Supra was at a huge disadvantage because it needs high octane to run the boost it needs to produce real power.

Supra was clearly fairly faster, considering the turbo lag and conventional stick shifter compared to M6 quick paddle shifting, and on that amount of power, hes probably on stock internals, if not, he could.

Im not an expert but i believe the Supra problem was caused by bad ecu mapping to the current 'low' octane ordinary pump fuel togheter with high boost causing detonation.
