This song is really helping me right now. Can't get it out of my head. To me, as of any true gamer or anyone who knows fantastic music, this is a truly unique and powerfully deep midi track and to be able to be taken from a video game from the 1990s and still to this day be something that people find as good. Well to me that's a masterpiece. Just another example of how a game could have been SO much more and yet was depressingly short
It was criticized because people needed something to blame for japanese games not getting exported. I like Seiken Densetsu 3 as much as the next person, but seriously, it's delusional and stupid to say "we didn't get it because of this game".
Because yes, most of the critics I've seen of this game are simply angry at their "Secret of Mana 2" not going overseas, nevermind other games don't either.
This game was made by an small and relatively new at the time group, so it's a little nice thing.
This is quite easliy my favorite video game of all time. I remember playing this as a kid and I still hold it far above any other game ever created. So amazing.
This game had its flaws (really BAD glitches that could end your game), but it's not a horrible game. I think it's got a great soundtrack. It's not necessarily all 'music' but some of the nature sounds really pull you into the environment. The forest between the castles in Gothica was one like that.
Yes it was similar to Secret of Mana in some ways, but it had its own charm to it. The only thing is, I wish SOE was multiplayer.
I know Jeremy Soule from playing GuildWars; check out "Land of the Golden Sun" or "Theme of the Norn" . . . and "Crystal Desert"
I started looking into him and realized he did Morrowind as well, which made me gasp a bit - the music there fit, but didn't overwhelm, which was just perfect.
wtf??? I remember when this game came out. it was so heavily criticized, including the soundtrack. why?! this music is beautiful! I never got around to playing this game. but I will defanitely check it out now.
oh yeah. it was criticized. but i'm only refering to a couple of reviewers who I cant stand anyway. I tend not to pay too much attention to reviews until I have played the game, anyways. but i'm sure you're right. I mean, this soundtrack is amazing. i'm sure most gamers really enjoyed it. and thanks man, i'll defanitely play it. keep posting!
Yay, that's nice, and yeah, I'll try to post more, I really want, but I hardly get time to do anything and when I do, I'm so tired... But next time I surely will
@traviesolocke it was criticized because in some ways it was weirder than typical RPG's were and felt and looked like it was going to be identical to Secret of Mana, but wasn't. The plot is definitely interesting, the characters are interesting, the music was fantastic, the game mechanics were different because instead of having mana or magic "points" you had to purchase/obtain ingredients for spells. IMO it was a different but GREAT game.

the music made this game. that and the geeky main character's references to movies that don't exist.

The critized was good, but this game was compared with Secret of Mana, infortunatly.
I prefer Secret of Evermore, for the originality of the story, and the ambiance.
