it's also probably safe to assume that their armor has some sort of protection to prevent any major casualties, plus, the drop pods probably have special parachutes attatched to the top of the drop pods (like the escape pods in halo 1)

Forgive me if im being ignorant but when coop campaign is mentioned, does that only include xbox live and system link? Will there be split screen?

though halo 3: odst comes with so much new stuff, it is still never the less, an expansion. the split screen (custom game) mode does not exist with odst. odst merely adds onto halo 3 with a new campaign, 3 new maps, and a new multiplayer called firefight. to play the new campaign and firefight, u will need to put the odst disk into the xbox, but to play split screen, u need the normal halo 3. xbox live and split screen exist for campaign & multiplayer in both games. does this answer ur question?

there splitscreen on both the campaign and firefight and the campaign is 10 hours long not including exploring the free roam city and it includes all the released halo 3 maps (the dlc)

it has halo 3's multiplayer and all the maps includins the downloads on a seperate disc.

The game comes with 2 discs the one i mentioned above and the disc with halo 3 ODST stuff which includes the reach multiplayer beta for when it goes live
