we should NEVER have colonized those teritories in the first place, we should NEVER have exploited and enslaved others, it's our dark pages of our discoveries saga.
@Valtyful One should never judge history with the eyes of today. By that prism, humanity should have never existed - because men are made of both good and evil. We need to live with it and learn from our falls.
Colonial empires had a reason to exist. And in the Portuguese case was because we didn't have natural resources to explore in their national territory. Plus, they were landlocked by a more powerful Castille. I could go on... but I believe you can catch the drift.
we used a portuguese made replica of the g3 machine gun usually good for use in africa terrain, the commies made a coup in lisbon thats why we left africa ppl wanted more freedom speech and didnt know much what was going on in africa they were lied by the commies, in fact the country was going its most prosperous times with 9% years increase in gdp since 1950 to 1974 ppl were told economy was falling apart because of the oil shock of 74 thats was the commies biggest card to fool the ppl
@ukusapillage The GDP was actually rising in continental Portugal, or in the African colonies? Honestly, I hardly believe GDP was rising that much just in Portugal - about the colonies, it's easy to guess what were the reasons - such as the arrival of soldiers (who would spend money in the colonies), the development of war industries, the natural development of urban centers, etc.
Yes, Africa had prosperity when europeans arrived, but go back and see the prosperity before europeans came. That is why they came. In fact the entire continent wasn't as fragmented as it is now; Europeans invaded Africa's land mass and prostituded for their own goods. What we see today is the aftermath when a people colonize another people for selfish gain, changed their culture, language, identity, and way of living. Now are left to live a life thats not their own. What a tragedy.
good quality and rare photos. good job indeed, africa was such a prosperous place before the revolutions, when white people stil lwere there... look at it now, misery... war.. HIV... without all the millions of dollar of umanitarian help from the same whites they fought africans would be starved to death from years...
