  • Been wanting to join the navy since I was 10, even though my parents don't really support my decision. I've decoded though :) great vid

  • I have been counting down for 5 years until im old enough to join and i only have 4 months left. Very exciting:D

  • No country would dare invade Australia,as long as we are a Commonwealth country and under the British flag umbrella! If anyone did invade us or attack us,the British would put their war machine into gear, then the Americans would obviously follow their British cousins!Sleep soundly,Australia.WE LOVE YOU!

  • Whats a navy?

  • I'm 13 years old and plan on serving in the Australian Navy when I'm older. It's been pretty much what I've been planning since I was like 3. My Uncle was an officer at HMAS Albatross down at Nowra working on the helicopters. My Grandfather was in the US Navy & a Brig. General in the Filipino Army. My Dad served on HMAS Perth (DDG) and HMAS Newcastle (FFG). It's in my blood, and it's awesome (:

  • Any word on when the RAN will start recruiting Boatswains again..???

  • @AussieRedneck09 mate just im gunna be a boatswains mate all i do was just go onto the navy website click on boaswains and click apply

  • I talked to a Submariner who wargame'd with the Aussie Navy.

    Said you boys were scary.

  • @TheSturdyWall

We are the only submariners to 'sink' an american carrier

  • Yeah yeah.. been there done that. The marketing makes it sound so great and you will be important n special n all that. Absolute croc of shit. U'll be treated like shit!!! Hence why they are so desperate for ppl to join.. becaus their sailors are leaving in droves.. straight to the mines!!! Double sometimes triple the money and you're not getting yelled at because you havn't been to sea yet!!! FAGS!!!

  • @tucoselby OI MATE DONT DISS THE RAN CAUSE MY DAD IS IN IT AND MY GRANDFATHER WAS IN IT AND THEY SAID IS AND WAS THE GREATEST EXPERIENCE IN THEIR LIFE AND IM JOINING AS WELL AND THEY DONT GET TREATED LIKE SHIT CAUSE CAVILLIENS CAN GO ON A 6 DAY TRIAL AND I WENT ON IT AND IT WAS GREAT. EITHER UR AMERICAN WHO HAS BEEN IN THE AMERICAN NAVY AND THEY TREAT U LIKE SHIT OR U A PERSON WHO HASNT EVEN BEEN IN THE NAVY. SO SHUT UP.....

  • I think that the navy is the most important ithink The navy is the most important defense force at the moment. Their the guys who are stopping terrorists, drug dealers, smugglers, arms dealers and many more from getting into our country.

Ofcourse in a war the army will always come first but the navy is always active

  • Twenty years serving in this outfit and while I cant say every bloke I've met has been a champion I can say every day has been a privilege because of the champions I have met.

  • to any Australians that might be reading this; dont let a few dipshit Americans curve your thoughts about America, im 18 but currently not enlisting, but if i were to enlist it would be in the Navy, and i would be honored to serve side by side with the Australian Navy, i have very deep respect for the Australians and thank each and every Australian for helping us so greatly through any and every war

-from the heart of a TRUE American

  • @ajmurder I completely agree with you mate!

  • @ajmurder well said mate!

  • @ajmurder id fucking have my head sawn off for the USA and Im Australian

  • hey wat is that song it so lovely!!!!!

  • i served many times with the Australian navy . great bunch of lads , be proud , be very proud . from a heart of oak !

  • What is the name of the sing that was used in this video? I really like it! :)

  • @StortDaYnZ,

The song is called "Hero" by a band called New Empire. They are from Sydney, Australia.

  • What is the name of this song? I love it! :)

  • What is this song called? I love it!

  • What is this song called?

  • Wow, why such crazy things? I served in the US Navy and Aussies were the best when I visited there with my ship, the USS Benfold, in April 2001.

  • The RAN is welfare for idiots who can't get jobs elsewhere. It keeps them off the streets.

  • @SirFinbarr . I would watch my mouth f--kwit,you never know when you MIGHT bump into a Pusser OR Former Pusser.

  • @Buck11266 hahaha, yeah at the dole office.

  • this American is a fucking troll.. he doesnt represent shit.. i am in the US Navy.. Americans fucking love Australia (even though most will immideatly refrence Crocidile Dundee or Steve Irwin LOL).. i love serving with the RAN..very professional good humor and can drink like champs! this bitch has probably never been outside the states and just helps to perpetuate the sterotype of dumb red neck yanks.. you know most americans abroad try SO HARD to put a good name for us out then this happens

  • @pakeredditt Hear Hear!!!

  • The RAN is the worst job ever. Leaving was my best decision. Don't join if you are thinking about it.

  • @thetowndrunk1

your comment "The RAN is the worst job ever. Leaving was my best decision. Don't join if you are thinking about it"

    your username: "thetowndrunk1"

Thanks for the reassurance that the high standards and discipline required by the RAN, separate the men from the boys.

  • @chica476

Why would you say such a thing? Australia and The United States are very close allies and have been since World War 1. What you said only makes us Australians stereotype Americans as obese, fast food eating, red neck yanks. So in the interest of your country, I would watch my mouth if I were you.

  • @james1234279

I meant, of course, to say "Social Trash Heap".

  • @chica476,

    Social trash?

There has not been any English convicts sent to Australia since the 1850s. Many of them that were sent here did very well for themselves, they prospered economically and became pillars of society. There were a lot more opportunities here than there were back in England. Why do you think most of them stayed here once they had served their sentence?

  • @chica476 If you wish to insult, make sure you use the correct spelling.

  • @chica476 fuck you too, Australia says, Fuck american trollers...fuck you go back to being a keyboard warrior in call of duty, you piece of shit. -.-

  • @chica476 if i was from the USA i would be ashamed i breath the same air as an uneducated twat like you !

  • @chica476 Fuck you too cunt, burn in hell and stay there!

  • @chica476 fuck you too cunt

  • i prefer air force

  • So awsome! i wanna be a navy medic

  • The RAN is the disabled litle brother of the services

  • @stingrayf5,

There is no such thing as an "AEGIS class destroyer".

AEGIS refers to the combat system. Ships with the AEGIS combat system include the USN Ticonderoga class and the Arleigh Burke class, and the future RAN AWDs.

  • The navy is so poo, join the army then people wont think you are partially retarded

  • what is the name of this song??

  • @1234bonesrules Song: Hero Artist: New Empire Album:Come With Me Tonight.

  • The Australian economy is very strong dollar is nearly one to one US dollars, why don't Australia purchase some AEGIS class destroyers and Cruisers to make its outnumbered navy stronger?

  • @FeelFree3 Becuase we don't need a stronger navy. We just need it strong enough to be the major military force in the region, which means have a better navy than indonesia and the pacific states. Not exactly hard. Besides, the navy has a serious personnel shortage atm, we only have enough people to keep one of our four submarines crewed at any given time. No point buying more ships if you don't have people to crew them.

  • @australianfastbowler But one AEGIS class destroyer have much more defence power than one lower class destroyer that Australian navy is using, so if Australian navy is outnumbered to neighbour countries for example Indonesia than it should choose AEGIS class destroyer, because the same number of crew can bring out more denfence power.

  • Imagine if Australia was ever invaded!Great Britain would destroy the enemy of Oz and be there!Australia knows that if anyone threatens them, the UK would be there totally, then the USA would follow!

  • @QUEENAHIDEKINGFISHER,

I think it may be the other way around. The USA has a much greater military presence in Australia than what the UK has.

I can't even remember the last time I saw a British navy ship in Sydney.

  • @79HZGTS Sydney isn't the only place in Oz!

  • @QUEENAHIDEKINGFISHER,

You are correct, there are several other coastal cities in Australia. But Sydney is home to the East Coast Fleet (larger than the FBW fleet), Sydney is the most populous city and NSW is the most populous state. Plenty of US navy ships come into Sydney every year. Not so many British ships.

  • If you are thinking of joining the navy, don't fucken do it. I'd rather slam my knob in a car door than be in the navy. I can't wait to get out

  • People never join this organisation. Its sick (yes ex Navy)

  • Im joining up Next year as a Bosun

  • shithouse song! join the navy see it for yourself! changed my life for the better!

  • loved the vid...made me proud to by Aussie and to support the Navy...GO THE AUSSIE NAVY!!

  • I was in the US Navy and I've worked with the Australian Navy before. You guys are awesome.

  • @Mondafied aye thanks mate im inlisting in the navy soon.

  • this is whats left after nucleur war. the australian navy, the last fighting force on earth

  • The new uniforms look fucken gay...yeah more practicable than the grey overalls, but just plain fucken terrible to look at.

  • Well done Aussie's. Old US Marine.

  • woo hoo i'm on youtube!

  • Yay they used a song I like! :-) I read an article on it but couldn't find a vid with the song until i found this, thanks for posting online

  • Once Australia sold there last 2 aircraft carriers its a waste of time to join the navy here go airforce or army

  • Impressive !!!!

  • Except for the poxy fucken dayhands, I do have an element of respect for the others working round the clock on these vessels.

  • great piece of australian defence force propoganda there dont say its not because it is. and u no it. but still its nmore subliminal than chinese prooganda

  • read the title of the video. navy promotional video

    key word there "promotional"

and what do companys do when they are trying to promote something?

make it look good. dont think i need to say anymore.

  • @CaptJackHartness, Ok ! Capt Jack, But do enjoy all that wonderful papperwork ( up to your eyebrows !!! ) on your desk in your stateroom, hahahaha - while us " Seamen " get set to leave the ship in Hong Kong, Cheers !!!

  • Who are those guys with the Tartan armbands on, what does it mean?

  • great video :) spent 8 years in the Navy about a decade ago. This makes me proud (lots of fond memories!)

  • Very impressive! Congrats from the U.S.A.! Just dial 911 if you ever need a helping hand!

  • i cant bloody wait until i join the RAN

  • What song is this?

  • I'm a Yank, and if I was an Australian ladd, of 19-years-old, I'd join the RAN, in a heart-beat!!!!! and then walk with pride for the rest of my life!!!

  • I would to.. but only as an officer.. I refuse to be called a Seaman...

  • hope to be a CSO in the very near future...

  • what is the song called? i actually like it and it goes great with the video.

  • God save Spain...

  • Decent regional navy.

  • i want to join the navy but i have a few questions that the site does not cover.

Is the testing different to the Army one like the Apitude test..the YOU session or is it all the same? because i wanted to join the army did the apitute test and i found it quiet hard lol i just wanna know if the Navy one is the same or different thanks in advance for the answers =)

BTW the Royal Australian Navy is the BEST navy in the world. and not only australians says that americans wont cuz there cocky =P

  • uhh... you would have to speak to the people at the defence recruiting places

  • Mmmm fair dinkum mate, the USN would have our navy for brekky and still be starved for action. They'd finish the RAN in about five minutes. Let's not be too cocky ourselves. USN: Over 350,000 personnel. RAN: 13,000 personnel. USN: 9 CVN-68 Nimitz Super Carriers 55+ DDG-51IIA Destroyers 30+ CG-47 Cruisers 20+ FFG-7 Frigates 50+ SSN Los Angeles Nuclear subs 4+ SSGN Connecticut nuclear subs 14 SSBN Ohio nuclear ballistic missile subs. Then there's the Amphib/ USMC support sealift vessels.
  • ur right i look at it this way for our size we are one of the most capable and more than pull our wait and i think we are equal with the usa when it come to training and tactics but not fire power because of our small size

  • quality not quantity. RAN - doing more with less!

  • Waayyyyyyyy less, haha. Imagine what the RAN could do with more, like say:

4 Canberra LHDs (instead of 2)

8 AW Destroyers (instead of 3-4)

16 ASW Frigates (instead of 8)

    16 Littoral Combat Ships

16 SSGK submarines (instead of 12 on the drawing board, which is still a major leap

for the RAN. Fingers crossed that the government delivers all 12 with full capability).

& a major recruiting push, with a decent flotilla that might actually attract the crews necessary+ a decent slice of the GDP.

  • Let MEEEE be the Minister for Defence damn it!!!

  • @kaidalen Nuh mate. When you do the Aptitude you qualify for jobs in the army navy and air force. I Did mine in January and qualified for jobs in each. so the aptitude is the same but i think the assesment day is because they ask different questions because as you could imagine navy is alot different from army.

  • @kaidalen Many people in the US navy admit it. In a straight war they would win through sheer numbers, but no naval military has the same level of training that our sailor recieve, and our clearance divers are among the most elite special forces in the world.

  • @ArtisanBlade Clearance Divers are not special forces, however they are an elite force.

  • @kaidalen The Aptitude is a general test you sit for any defence job. Navy Army, Airforce. The outcome of this test which is not a pass or fail, will determine which jobs your suited to. you'll get a print out, Some jobs may need you to be good at puzzle solving for example while others more hands on/technical. depending what job your going for you may need to sit another aptitude test later on. The aptitude test is valid for 12 months

  • @kaidalen we surely are, we prove that in rimpac =) highly recommend to everyone to join its amazing =)

  • @kaidalen Its all the same. You'll do one test and then see the careers bloke who'll tell you what you might be good at or what you might like out of all the defence jobs.

  • @kaidalen

  • @kaidalen I can tell you exactly as I am joining myself.

The YOU session is exactly the same as Army and Air Force. You will find there'll be a group of about 20 people at the same time doing it. Its very simple.

It's after the YOU session that things get different. Depending on the job and position you are applying for there may be extra testing.

  • @kaidalen the questions are the same for all services at the YOU session level.

  • @kaidalen all the same mate, good luck and keep trying :D

  • @kaidalen watch the recruitment vids on the RAN website have watched them my self there is one called YOU session shld help ya out

  • Cool video, apart from the music. I muted it, and played "99 problems" in itunes instead, and NOW i wanna join.

I GOT 99 PROBLEMS BUT THE BITCH AINT ONE

  • iam going for my assessment day soon , is the physical, beep test hard at all.. and wen u go for your medical is it true ur gana hav ur testes examined??

  • I just had my Assessment day mate, you dont actually have the Physical till way later on...........haha and yes you will have you balls cupped while coffing

  • 1000 miles away was much more effective and moving. This one seems like a poor attempt to re-write that one. Although it is a fairly accurate video, even shows a duty watch muster. If only it could depict how much fun 6 hour gangway watches are :)

  • no boydy likes u navy lol armyyyy

  • oooo army aye. arent u a mad cunt!

  • nope

  • Thanks very much for all your help and comments, I am about to do my assessment day on the 18th of Dec (Electronics technician) Can anyway give me any tips?? Is it as hard as people make out it is?

  • Category (job training) school is hard, with a higher than normal dropout rate, but the job is one of the best you can have on a ship, because you don't have to stand night watches.

  • fuckin terribly hard bro u gota do like 500-800 push ups a day and go without for for days at a time. u get lots of water but yeah.

if u mouth of the recruit school instructors will actually punch you its fucked bro

  • Go without what???

  • hahahahahahhahaha malise your full of shit. shut up

  • i am so proud to be australian!! go aussies and forget america we are one but many!

  • BS markflorian, I just watched a USN add and it was a jingoistic glorifying crock. This was much more down to earth and showed more of the human face of the service without glorifying it, like the replenishment in rougher seas footage, etc, but it still made it look appealing. I thought the ad was actually a bit touching.

  • Cool video,ADF couldn't have picked a gayer song i rekon

  • God damnit

australian recruitment video's are fucking shit!!! this is terrible. we could really learn something from americans

  • I'm reapplying for the RAN in december, and I'll be honest... this video... has just re-amped my enthusiasm! lol had you going there! :p but seriously excellent video! and to whoever said it was a joke(didnt read that far) but dude, kiss my patriotic australian arse! XD God bless australia, we're not perfect, but we're pretty good anyway!

  • lol you were actually in the navy at one point though right? Why did you get out is the time away from home real shit house

  • Explain?

  • Why don't you change countries than? Seriously, changing countries in the year 2009 is easy, that their is no excuse to have to live in one when it allows you the right to leave.

So please, leave Australia, and take your imaginary friend with you (Allah). Don't hit yourself on the way out.

    Regards

  • u know what a joke is??? the Taliban!!!!!!!!!!

  • yes you're right but what's that got to do with me

  • Australia, united with the coalition forces are helping locals in Afghanistan from the Taliban, the ADF also defend people like you and people like you don't appreciate it!

That's what it has to do with you!

  • if you dont like Australia thats fine but to say you hate it on my home soil and to say that our military and navy is a joke then why dont you fuck off out of our proud nation

  • oh i will leave thankyou

  • @Rasverix82 fuck off then

  • @Rasverix82 Ok your address and what state and I should be glassing your face soon :) CUNT YOU LIVE IN A LUCKY FUCKEN COUNTRY AND YOU GOT THE GUTS TO SAY THAT! GO LIVE IN IRAQ OR SOME OTHER FUCKED UP POVERTY COUNTRY YOU FUCK! Bet your a fucken foreigner to!

  • I am new to YouTube. If I wanted to use this clip in a presentation (MS Powerpoint) - how do I cut and paste?

    Scott

  • I am a 33 year old male who is about join the Navy, will be doing an Electronics technician Apprenticeship, can anyone tell me if the Navy is worth joining,.....and at my age???

  • no 33 is too old to be joining

    Good Luck!

Dont let people say you can't man

and yes it is worth joining!!.

Started my application as a Clearance Diver :D

  • yeah the cut of is like 50 being 30 would probably be an advantage i'm 22 and i'd rather work with a 33 yr old than a snot nosed 17 or 18 yr old

  • Comment removed

  • the best promo vid for the RAN navy i've seen

  • lol royal australian navy navy

  • hey is it true rudds buying aircraft carriers!!

  • Sorry, It's not true?

We have no reason to buy one.

We have bought a Amphibious landing craft. but thats for helicopters, Later on down the track although the Navy not considering it now, but there have been talk about the Australian Navy purchusing some F-35s for them, all they will use the RAAFs ones

  • ur right, i am in the air force cadets

  • cool, im gonna do the same thing--10k just for joining in!!!!!!

    whats it like?

  • you don't get 10K just for joining - what planet are you from?

  • who said they pay you 10k to join lol everyone would join if that were the case

  • cadets?

  • omg sweet!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • who exactly are you...your obviously not in the services as no bloke ive ever met has the attitude or a 4 year old like you do

  • Somebody who left the shitbag grey outfit to join a better service... that being the RAAF. And if you dislike my attitude, then eat shit!

  • lol TCfan most probably got discharged because no liked him and he sucked at what he did. and only the Air Force would let him join with special considerations

It's not hard to tell why they hated him lol

  • Just got in - woo

  • god that song is shit ditch the music

  • Can someone tell me where i can get an Australian Royal Navy flag,i want to fly it from my flag pole in England.

  • Royal Australian Navy, maybe ebay lol

  • You cannot purchase the White Ensign. Its illegal to have only commissioned ships and establishments are allowed to fly it.

  • just out of interest how come theres no old guys in the video? If you join as a young guy what happens when your in your late 40's? Do most leave?

  • well i guess you woudn't want to be 40-50 and be a sailor told what to do by a 24 year old Officer, so i guess you either leave or you go for a commision.

  • Navy works hard and are always looking after Australian waters.

    Love the navy.

God bless then and the seas they sail.
