That's sad about the Twin Towers. New Yorker's love their city even with its flaws. NY people are really talented, smart, and street. We are more laid back here in Southern California.
Had to leave Brooklyn, NY and am now stuck upstate, there will never be any place quite like New York. I miss it everyday and wish I were back. LOVE, LOVE this video, the music, lyrics and the musicians. Thanks so much for letting me have something to go back to to watch when I am feeling homesick.
@Siempre819 I know how you feel! Don't know where in upstate you are, but last fall we got a round-trip ticket via Amtrak from Syracuse for $110 - right into Grand Central - or maybe it was Penn Station. Wanted to do it again this year but some family health issues intervened. Love this cover and have been listening/watching for quite a few years. There's nothing quite like New York City....
@cqsallie And I thought I was the only one who keeps watching this video. I have it on my wall on fb and won't delete it. I do hope you get to visit NY again, it's such a vibrant city in every season and no matter where you go crime is everywhere, even in upstate NY, (i'm in Ithaca). Hope all is well with the family.
use 2 live in (hemsted long island) new york. long long long time ago maybe 30yrs ago . that hole town was on welfare. the first part of the month we all get the welfare checks. have house partys ,drink, smoke pot, fight , play cards . and when the money runs out . everybodys friends again. borowing money from each other . a vicious cycle.
WOW I'm not into rap but this song really blew me away as well as the original tune by Odyssey. Have these talented young men recorded anything else? And regardless of what's happening in NYC, it is true..."There's nothing quite like NYC"!
I know this song from the old days, but these brothers have taken it to another level.. Please someone produce this so I can download it on Itunes!!! Mad Love For NYC!
I agree with brkcityfg9, NYC is fucked up now, no longer fun. yeah you dont have to worry about crime but now its boring as fuck ! 42nd st is now disneyland
Hi my name is Lisa & I was born & raise in Brooklyn. Yo I play this song everyday because it is all about the true of being a Native New Yorker. This guys need to get out there & make some more song like this. This one is POWERFUL it make me cry it go straight to my heart . I just love it yo call them & get the word out
This is a superb track and truly lovely version of this classic song. Release it in the UK now and make yourselves a few quid. Seriously. We've got the Alicia Keys thing going at the minute and this would be a great follow up. DO IT, you can't go wrong. I wish I had 10%.
much love this song put happiness tupac siad he dont care but as long as he touch one person n you did im 18 n i remeber this summer much love forreal im bx native peace
Yeah NY is one of my fav spots in the world. u gotta love that city. Some of the best ball players, actors, and the best rappers in the world came out of there.
@dlabram Stay where you are....born and raised in this city my family has been here since 1873.....There are too many of you transplants here aleady, us natives cant afford to live here anymore.....so fuck off
@dlabram come to ny but come to the real part where real ppl are block partys in the summer n all dont b a tourist cause the "mayor" change it to disney land but life to short u come n b family
We need more tributes to NYC natives, because too many heads take us for granted.
The following movements were largely born out of / invented by native NY'ers
HIP HOP.. SALSA/Latin Jazz...PUNK ROCK..NY HARDCORE..FREESTYLE
Aside from that, the amount of character that native NY'ers exhibit shines through in crisis, and shows in so many amazing ways. Gentrification/Sex and the City bullshit scored a few heavy blows, but we'll bounce back--It's the NY Spirit, reinvented with every generation.
I stumbled on this and was about to change it but got sucked in !! This is FIRE !! I'm only sorry I never heard it before and that it ain't bumpin' all over NYC right now!!
NYC used to be the shit. Fooliani and 911 fucked it all up. Now its so goddamn expensive and the NYPD makes it like an SS police state now. Clubbing is a chore now. Imagine, they want to raise the verrazano toll to $13 bucks! What the fuck are working people to do?
@BrkCityFG9 Growing up in NYC in the 70's and 80's was great. When 42nd street started becoming Disney Land I knew it was over. NYC sold to the highest bidder and forget the working class that made it great. Trying to charge tolls on Bridges into Manhattan? Parking Meters in the city that are getting just as expensive as the garages, police breathing down your neck for laughing too loud. Rampant corruption. Better places to live.
Yeah..this is a great cover. Not many many know, but this is actually a cover of the most successful advertising campaign of all time combined with an Odyssey song... I Love NY
The video and remix is great. I shared this link in my facebook account. Not to mention that it was shot before the twin towers went down. Great job!!!
They are a couple of unknown Brooklyn Musicians that were friends of mine when I lived in New York. Fantastic produced this mashup and you see him rapping, while Stripes sings the hook. This video was played on MTV Direct Effect, but that was it's peak. I haven't talked to them in years, so I don't know what they are up to.
@rosssebek I came acrossed this by accident and its the shit! better than the original.I cant believe it was never produced.GREAT talent hidden from the world.

Cool fusion of Barry White's "Love's Theme" and Odyssey's "Native New Yorker"!
Sound advice: Polish the lead vocals, get some sistas (Three Degrees style) to sing the backing vocals and chorus, and you have a hit!
Very creative, though.
