it's "my name" by Lhasa ( de Sele ) on the album "The living road" ( she died recently at only 28 ) There's "Con toda palabras" from her that i like most - the video is probably still on youtube
good work on this but I recommend you to buy an anatomy book to learn where are the muscle at on a human face. That way your head will look more realistic
thanks, if you youtube-search for | mcasual musique | you can see a series of videos i made while trying to get better looking faces - i was never good at human modeling , but some of the "musique" heads came out not too scary :)
why is that sometimes people have polys that look like squares ( [ ] ) and other have a pine through ( [/] ) ??? and how to you switch between... also, how do i 100% reset maz without reinstalling??? (NOT file > REsET)
rosshildick I think sometimes that it is just a matter of choice whether you use triangles([/]) instead of faces([]). The only reason I know why people use triangles is because some games I know of need triangulated faces instead of 4 sided polies.
i find it the easiest to use, but maybe i didnt try other programs long enough. For free you can get modtool from SoftImage, it's a slightly less powerful version of Softimage if i'm not mistaken. Then there's Blender3d which is free, a bit hard to start to learn, but there's tons of video tutorials for it on youtube, and with it you can do everything, a whole movie with special effects.
I Use maya as the first program I ever learned in my whole life and yes its rly to use I use all my tools with my mouse ... u just need to get used to it and learn all tools ....but its an awsome program...at first I was like omg there is way too many tools but with the time ull know them...anyway u can cheak out on piratebay(dot)org I got mine there
the trial will let you able to use it for 30 days. If u are a student and want it for 12months its like 100$ or something like that or if u dont feel like to pay type piratebay on google and download it
hey, i have the trial now so thx for your help but if i din't want to pay i wouldn't use pirate bay i would use rapid library and get a keygen or a crack lol but anyway thx
oh yea, how would i get a pic like that into maya (the head)?
o its ok I used pirate bay for years and never got problem thats why lol
anyway about the head u sould get a real head instead of the head this guy using bec it will improve greatly ur skills
go on google and type 3d head reference
in maya just make 2 basic plane and then make 2 new lambert and double click on it and then put the side view and then on the other lambert put ur front view and then ajust both planes and then u can work ;)
i have been trying maya but can't seem to use it so i had another look at 3ds max (i have the full version) and i actually found it easy. they are almost the same, there are a few differences but only a few :D
Because I had a project with programmers I had to use 3dsMax ._. and I can tell you there is some tools better in 3smax but sometimes ur looking for something rly simple but can only be done in maya ... :/
thanks ! but it's not anim8or but anim8or could get the same results. if you're looking for free 3d modeling programs, there's blender from blender3d..org, it's a bit hard to start learning, but it has everything you need to make movies, search youtube for "elephants dream" it's a short movie done in blender
i tried the mod tool it's very powerful yes, there's a limit to the number of polygons in the scenes you model, but it's something like 60000, so you can create humans and cars with it
the face was done by me but i didn't record the making-of , if you look in the video-responses i have the video "visage" where i model a face, it's not very good, but in the other video "when Valentina and Musique became one" i was able to make a head and body i liked :)
yes it is easyer to make modle in wings but 3dsmax u can do much more it has turbo smooth with smooths your objects and it has simitry so u only have to model half like i can make a car and only model the right side and it copys it to the left
ok just to say blender is not the best no games are made in blender but if you got the money go get 3ds max 2008 not 2009 its not tht great i have it 2008 rocks i love it ive made so many cars and people and even helped on a game
I think games are made with whatever 3d media can export the right files into the engine. I know Elder Scrolls and prince of persia used 3ds max for the animation, but as far as models go, As long as it's exported in the right format (I think it's probably wavefront obj.) it shouldn't matter.
does anyone know the name of that program whitch is like a black screen with alot of little green squares and you basicly connect each of them and move the view to make a 3d model? my friend use to have it but i dunno the name
there's many 3d modelers, here's a few i can remember, spatch hamapatch wings3d milkshape anim8or 3ds max maya lightwave blender bryce - if you google for [ purdydesign 3d ] you can find a list of 3d apps
i did this modeling using maya, so the mouse actions are quite different from blender - i'm not very experienced with Blender but i want to switch to it someday ! :) if you look at blender org you can find the video and web tutorials
That turned out pretty good, not how I would have done it but your way worked great. I would have just made vertices that bordered the face, connected them, made half of the face, and cloned that, but this worked fine.
mcasual..thats good..you're using Maya right..!?that was totally awesome..I'm an animation student..and I really like modelling above any other part animation..I salute you..!
in this video i quickly wanted to show how i modeled the part of the head i'm showing - in the video response i posted a video where i model a face - my human modeling skills are not very good, but i'm showing what i do - so the face was imported then stitched, i had not recorded the making of that face unfortunately - around june 2006 i posted many videos where you can see the face structures

Not a bad method if it gets the job done although its possible you may be doing extra work. Check out Arild Wiro's page for a great tutorial on how to get that edge flow while modeling the whole head and face.
welcome, i once saw a pro start with a 3d model of a skull, he quickly built a head around it, then he pretty quickly turned to z-brush to complete it
If you prefer for the animation creation go for Maya.
If you like to create CG try to go for 3Dsmax.
Note1 : In 3Ds max, user can create pothorealistic in very less time and a few setting !... Maya abit difficult. But the effect rendering still same with both !
Note2 : You can download the trial version for 3Ds max 2009 in Autodesk official web abot 900++ mb. Trial for 30 day !
not bad at all, good low poly head. you use blender? never was good at using the interface. whered you get the actual face tho, i have a hard time modelling that.
thanks, in other videos i model a face, search youtube for "mcasual visage" . my methods are not too good, just take them as examples of amateur studies. in the series of videos titled "valentina" i was able to make faces that were not too bad :)
not bad at all, good low poly head. you use blender? never was good at using the interface. whered you get the actual face tho, i have a hard time modelling that.
nah i did "visage" later. the faces in my tutorial videos are not very good. but in the "valentina" videos, after much work i modeled a face that was kind'of nice :)
is it maya you're trying to learn? If you want to make 3d images or 3d movies, the fastest and free way, is to go at daz3d dot com and get daz studio, its free and you get a few characters with it, one of which is Aiko - to learn maya correctly the best in my opinion is to get a thick book about learning Maya and read through it.
Thats what i did, i'm going to learn maya now and 3d studio max later, but i got this nice book called "The Game Artist's guide to MAYA". It takes you through 1 character project and the cd has alot of stuff on it. I haven't had the time to play with it yet but later this summer i will.
Oh' you forgot to mention the learning student version of maya is free, and is it just me or is image blender down?
Oh that is very nice... I'm getting back into using Blender, used to be somewhat ok with it. But after a year, I've completely forgot everything. xD One thing I want to do is sculpt for Second Life :P hehe.
hey people im making video tutorials for maya for free 100% there going to be published on march 30th please leave messages on my page stating what tutorial you need doing and ille do it for you. subscribe to please.
bummer. thout you were gonna show how to model the face as well xD Cool technique though. Have you have tried the "box @ 45 degrees" technique?? You create about a 4x4x4 poly cube, turn it 345 degrees and make a diamonds for the eyes, nose and mouth using the split polygon. Its an Ok method, but I'm still looking for others. Thanks.
in another video - the one in the "video responses" 3 inches above what you're reading - i show how i modeled the face - the result is not too too good, the face looks like a mask - later on i worked and reworked a face and ended up with a good result - thanks for the comment!
incredible, you got a different way from others, cool, im teaching myself, maya., very tough ,but im making progress, i think im ready to pull off this if i had voice while creation, with a little detail about things and the couple of tools u use!is there anyway you could re edit with voice instructions while video is going, even the first 45 secs of it,then i could refer back to the original, once i get that far!
thank you for the comment :) i used mostly edge-extrude - i made a video titled "Valentina, a 3d low-poly modeling test" on youtube i think you would like to view it -
i think the best way to learn fast and well is to get a thick book about learning Maya - other than that, there's "the gnomon workshop" and digitaltutors who make video tutorials - at .digitaltutors dot com they even give some tutorial videos for free - then you can google for "maya tutorials" - there's a few videos about maya on youtube
im just starting on maya and i have no idea what you just did lol, but id like to thank you for the post just seeing what this program can do fires up my imagination, thanks so much! really apreciate it
Nice face extrude and vertex merging but please tell me this is advance framing, If you can model that fast I have a project for you that pays huge money in florida for a music video, only concept started but once the process begins its a tight tight deadline
thanks!the video is probably played 5 times faster than in reality - i'm not very advanced, it's just a hobby for me - people that learned in schools and want to make a career of it are better - you could look at turbosquid dot com - and find good modelers and/or links to other sites where modelers hang out :)
So you just pop in a pre-made visage. The hardest parts are the eyes, the nose, the mouth, and what about the ears. So basically all the heads you make look the same?
i have other videos where i do the face (titled "visage"). but for this video i just wanted to show how i did the head - normally i'd do the head and continue building the face - i also have the valentina/musique videos where i build a body and shape and reshape a face

later you can select 2 vertices and do a
'edit polygons / merge vertices'

I think human models are not being done correctly.
The left side of the human body is not identical to the right but every 3d character is really symmetrical. I guess they want to idealize it.

is it maya you're trying to learn? If you want to make 3d images or 3d movies, the fastest and free way, is to go at daz3d dot com and get daz studio, its free and you get a few characters with it, one of which is Aiko - to learn maya correctly the best in my opinion is to get a thick book about learning Maya and read through it.
mcasual 3 years ago
howdy,
Thats what i did, i'm going to learn maya now and 3d studio max later, but i got this nice book called "The Game Artist's guide to MAYA". It takes you through 1 character project and the cd has alot of stuff on it. I haven't had the time to play with it yet but later this summer i will.
Oh' you forgot to mention the learning student version of maya is free, and is it just me or is image blender down?
lard444 3 years ago
blender3d dot org is still up
mcasual 3 years ago
it was down earlier today when i tried to go***
:)
lard444 3 years ago
Oh that is very nice... I'm getting back into using Blender, used to be somewhat ok with it. But after a year, I've completely forgot everything. xD One thing I want to do is sculpt for Second Life :P hehe.

It looks like a helmet rather than a head. I advice using the box modeling techinque.
TheodenN 4 years ago
bummer. thout you were gonna show how to model the face as well xD Cool technique though. Have you have tried the "box @ 45 degrees" technique?? You create about a 4x4x4 poly cube, turn it 345 degrees and make a diamonds for the eyes, nose and mouth using the split polygon. Its an Ok method, but I'm still looking for others. Thanks.
a9l5f 4 years ago
oh that's an interesting method i'll try it :)
in another video - the one in the "video responses" 3 inches above what you're reading - i show how i modeled the face - the result is not too too good, the face looks like a mask - later on i worked and reworked a face and ended up with a good result - thanks for the comment!
mcasual 4 years ago
incredible, you got a different way from others, cool, im teaching myself, maya., very tough ,but im making progress, i think im ready to pull off this if i had voice while creation, with a little detail about things and the couple of tools u use!is there anyway you could re edit with voice instructions while video is going, even the first 45 secs of it,then i could refer back to the original, once i get that far!
gralien 4 years ago
thank you for the comment :) i used mostly edge-extrude - i made a video titled "Valentina, a 3d low-poly modeling test" on youtube i think you would like to view it -

can ya help me out a lil in maya 8.5?
kyle2120 4 years ago
i think the best way to learn fast and well is to get a thick book about learning Maya - other than that, there's "the gnomon workshop" and digitaltutors who make video tutorials - at .digitaltutors dot com they even give some tutorial videos for free - then you can google for "maya tutorials" - there's a few videos about maya on youtube

Very nice. You have talent my friend. I've never tried 3D animation myself, but that looks like it took you a while, good job!

lol, looks crap!

I don't think it matters what software you use as long as you can produce something as creative and nice as this.
Good job. =)

Flow could be a bit better, but nice method.

Really cool man, I tried cinema 4d, but I actually sucked..
Can you help me? haha :D
Roythaboi 4 years ago
I think both Maya and max have been superseded by progs like modo and silo for modeling speed and efficiency, which sucks cos I trained in both.
I don't know about wings but it looks fairly decent, at the end of the day its what you make of it that counts and not the tools you use.
kimstockton 4 years ago
fak you wings3d is one of the best
darkdonkeygraphics 4 years ago
haha, i dont know for sure but i think max is the best,
qwertymac93 4 years ago
where do you find those images to model it around i use ac 3d and use i a 2d image to model it round but that works much batter

im just starting on maya and i have no idea what you just did lol, but id like to thank you for the post just seeing what this program can do fires up my imagination, thanks so much! really apreciate it
EDGARPICO 4 years ago
its basically extruding edges from a starting polygon. Whats tricky is getting the proportions right. As always lol
ChewySatisfaction 3 years ago
Lol this is Maya you noob not Max.

Nice face extrude and vertex merging but please tell me this is advance framing, If you can model that fast I have a project for you that pays huge money in florida for a music video, only concept started but once the process begins its a tight tight deadline
hexalot03 4 years ago
thanks!the video is probably played 5 times faster than in reality - i'm not very advanced, it's just a hobby for me - people that learned in schools and want to make a career of it are better - you could look at turbosquid dot com - and find good modelers and/or links to other sites where modelers hang out :)
mcasual 4 years ago
Your good at what u do but your taking the scenic route in my opinion...Modeling heads can be approached in a much easier fashion.
mattpink2273 4 years ago
in my video titled "42 quads" there's a base head where i was trying to find a more simple start shape
mcasual 4 years ago
So you just pop in a pre-made visage. The hardest parts are the eyes, the nose, the mouth, and what about the ears. So basically all the heads you make look the same?
gonzo1275 4 years ago
i have other videos where i do the face (titled "visage"). but for this video i just wanted to show how i did the head - normally i'd do the head and continue building the face - i also have the valentina/musique videos where i build a body and shape and reshape a face
