That's a very nice layout but the sound on this video does not fit at all. The subject is all modern diesels and the sounds effects are some old steam engine recordings.
Back to back as "usual" is not so usual. On U.P., what ever is handy and quickest is what runs. Even on a job that is a flip (out and return), back to back isn't a concern if a wye is available at the turn around point.
Hey you mental midgets ! This was filmed at a exhibition. Ya think maybe there was a steam engine with sound on another layout that the mic picked up ?
the sound kills the video but the layout is great!

My new movies of this layout feature more appropriate sound, along with far superior image quality. Just follow the link in the video responses.

great layout, but I have to ask. why are all your locomotives running "elephant style" rather than the usual back to back?
sd40u 2 years ago
I can't answer that one as I filmed the layout at an exhibition and have no contact with the owner/operator.
PoathJunction 2 years ago
Maybe this layout doesn't have digital command control.

that wouldn't matter

Wow...those cars are extremely detailed. This type of Model rr is what I hope to achieve...
How come there were random steam train noises with the diesels...?
Godzillasam 4 years ago
Steam train noises were at least a bit better than screaming kids at an exhibition noises.
