  • Page played in in DADGAD tuning

  • not good

  • GRAAAAACIASSSSSSSSSSS

  • @joelcdful You're welcome.

  • Hi! Thanks, it was helpful.. Do you use any effects?

  • Ok, not bad, but you have to put two finger into the introducion . . .

  • & if playing for 30 years and you have to find this easy riff on youtube to learn it.....that doesn't say much about you as a guitarist. sorry man....

  • @ the haters.... there are 4 things all guitarists have to remember when playing under any condition, live, studio, youtube whatever.

    1) TONE - without it, everything played will annoy.

    2) TUNING - without it everything played will annoy

    3) TEMPO - without it everything played will annoy

    4) MUTE - sounding unwanted notes with distortion and at high volumes will really annoy.

if you are not hitting these critical points all you are accomplishing is alienating your crowd/ listener.

  • hey man fuck that retard this was a great lesson.... spot on done page style...thanks for the help....been playing a long time @ that was good for me

  • hey man fuck that retard this was a great lesson.... spot on done page style...thanks for the help....been playing 30 years & that was good for me

  • @teina9 Jie sako, žąsys niekada šypsena, bet rytoj mes mokytis už segmentavimo kaltės tiesa!

  • @teina9 wow whats so bad about it? it sounds pretty cool to me.

  • @teina9 it aint that bad

  • tutorial dude

  • Very nice job!

  • It's almost correct, it just needs the extra D in the 5th string in the main riff but as the D is already being played with the 4th string it sounds almost correct. Doesn't look correct, but sounds almost the same. The 3rd part though seems a bit strange to me.

  • you do realize that your not even playing it right

  • Is this the tab Page originally played?

  • @Barbackablues TAB? What TAB?

  • @Barbackablues no its not originally played this way.

  • @Barbackablues not the original but sounds great!

  • @Barbackablues I didn't know famous guitarists used tabs to get their songs >_<

  • this is all wrong this is not how you play it

  • wow fail here i am looking at tutorials on how to play this and the fingering is insane and here u are playin it exactly the way it sounds doing the easiest version there is... thanx man this saved me time and effort!

  • KOOL! and THANKS

  • Yes its a harley benton 450 i have one just lie it ... very god guitar ...

  • harley benton 450... ?

  • No, it's only a Les Paul Standard.

  • What a brilliant way of showing how to play something. Wish I'd found you years ago. Thanks for the posting

  • Thanks. :)

  • sounds really good dude. only one thing he hits the open e instead of the d, but the e is tuned down to a d. other than that it sounds really good

  • Nice, thanks for the tutorial, it's easy to learn if you put camera on upside.

  • why does it seem like in everyvideo of urs your lying down?

  • do you have tabs for this. I got lost around 3 minutes. during the intrelude

  • Cheers this video helped a lot! And I'm quite poor to be honest!

  • what he said!

  • thanks for this dude , great tutorial .

  • Not a problem, thanks for the comment.

  • hey man great job thanks for the help

  • You're very welcome mate.

  • sounds good easy to follow. thanks

  • You're welcome.

  • Your playing it the cheater way. your totaly skiping the 5th fret on the main riff. but im sure you know that

  • I know, I should have learnt the song before trying to show how to play it!

  • Not bad for a newbie ? Might want to watch that video response. Nice try though.. :)

  • Will do, thanks for the tip mate!

  • cool, thanks dude. you gotta love all the jerks who are critical about everyone else's playing...........jealousy?

  • I've found many more constructive comments than jerky ones. I think that's great in a non moderated forum!

  • cool watch

  • not trying to insult you. This song is so easy to play. And your timing is slightly off. But none the less it sounds good.

  • Don't worry about insulting me, I do it to myself all the time! :)

  • how dyu shoot these? dyu have a camera cap or smn?

  • wut

  • Close... but not exactly

  • Kudos, can I have your hands?

  • Not yet!

  • i have a concert and he plays the main riff by holding onto the 5 string on the 5 fret that way it sounds echo-ish as the same note is played twice...!

  • this is the standars tuning way to play the song. to play the song on how it's meant to be played, you have to drop your tuning to DADGAD.

  • I think you're confused. ;)

  • yeah sorry, i was a little drunk when i posted that comment haha.

  • LOL! That's more than fine with me, not need to apologise mate. ;)

  • I snapped one of my strings playing this on my Cyclone.

  • Rarely have I used the same set of strings for my whole life.

  • all ur vids are amazing!!!

  • Thank you very much!

PS Even the logic gate ones? :-)

  • you rock this out thankx

  • Cheers!

  • mate, this kicks gluteous maximus. Great job

  • Thanks!

  • you kick ass as hell

  • Thank you.

  • do you need to string all the 6 frets?

  • you shouldn't need to, to do the main riff, but that will just lead to sloppy habits later on

  • this song is the coolest ringtone eva

  • nice job

  • i play it different, but yeah, it sounds good. keep it up

  • Hell Ya it does!

  • Kick ass

  • And donkeys and zebras too!

  • great teach me dude

  • Do you have tabs for this or please say what strings your are strumming?

    Thanks.

  • you are the first intelligent person that puts the camera in that position. it´s too much easy when you are learning a song

    good video =)

  • I'm glad you like it!

  • lo yea it's about 2% correct

  • LOL!

  • Post a video of you doing better.

  • its not really a tutorial but still vary good

  • Cheers.

  • bad ass song great tutorial!

  • Thanks, but check the comments below for more accurate information. This video is not 100% correct.

  • yeah i can tell but u still did a great job

  • awesome!

  • your tutorials are absolutely brilliant.

Some are great players, some are great teachers,

    you Sir, are both.

  • UR A MONSTER

  • Yes, but don't tell anyone!

  • hahaha dittydum dude...UR A MONSTER ! hahaha

(this guy leaves the SAME comment on MANY clips! Hilareous!)

  • i dont like it

  • do you use your left hand thumb for pressing the E-string in this video?

  • No.

  • hey dude i can only read tabs could you please tell me which string=what? thx =)

  • No.

  • not bad, just a little boring because your using only 1 finger....

  • true. dude is totally forgoing the triplets. (which IS in FACT how Pagey composed and plays it)Nothing personal amigo. However you, as well as many others miss notes during the "A chord" part. Try hitting the "A" as you do THEN instead of just hitting the A again..put 1 of your fingers down on the third (D) string on the FOURTH fret..THEN back to the A. I play then next "chord" (it's not really a chord) like this..first finger-3rd strng-7th fret with third fingr-4th strng-9th fret. C if U like ?

  • Thanks for clearing that up mate, I will try it first chance I get!

  • aww heck amigo, it's nothing special or new, man...I figured you probably knew it already anyways, and were just simplifying your video for the sake of beginners..i just threw it out there for what it was worth. I'm logging out right now, but I'm going to check out some of your other stuff next time around. I'm sure it's really good playing. Slainte!(cheers)

  • Hey, good Job. Your tuning is correct. Jimmy Page used that tuning and others quite a lot. Good lesson. LOL. I'm not sure what closer to the chest Mean't from Steamystreeb, but you did a great job

  • A more lazy way but still very good thx.

  • lol you play it the lazy way but it still sounds alright

  • im pretty sure your fret more then one string...

  • dude i used my fender chromatic tuner to tune my electric guitar to what the diagram in the beginning said and not only is the diagram a little screwed up (even if you're a left handed guitarist, the big E is closest to your chest, you put the diagram to where the little e is closest to your chest) but when i tuned it to what it said i did the same exact frets and it sounded nothing like kashmir.

Im sorry but I dont see how you guys got it

  • dude

  • DADGAd... its a pretty standard tuning man

  • I learned how to do tune it by heart a day after I said that

  • kick ass

  • Well... I didn't knew we have to change tuning, I just found a way, lol... Well I just have to tune the E string all the way to a D note and I'm clear... I play it like TABS:

    e:X->

    B:X->

    G:2_2_2_X_2_2_2_X, then 3rd fret, 4th, 5th, and 7th!

    D:0_0_0_X_0_0_0_X

    A:0_0_0_X_0_0_0_X

    D:X_X_X_X_X_X_X_0

    (X means nothing)

That's how I played the main riff... basically I can play the whole song in that tuning... It's the same tuning (Lower E to D) for the song Moby Dick too... So... cool!

  • you are seriously tellented

  • A lot of this isn't played correctly, but it still sounds good. For the entire main riff, you should have a finger on the 5th fret of the A string.

still sounds good and will help teach people though, which is what anyone posting videos should be for! gj

  • nice job, just a little refinement..

  • still great job man just work on that d and ull b great!

  • fyi this is not correct....ur so posed to play a d on the fithstring...... for everysingle 1

  • Sounds OK but I don't play it like this. If you listen to Kruelwanderer you'll hear the authenticty. This is how Jimmy plays it. Still onstage, most punters wouldn't notice the difference.

  • in the main riff he plays the the low d string you're doing it pretty close nice playing :)

  • will you do me a favor and tab out the riff from 2:31 to the end. its a bit hard to follow along, and i'm quite lazy :p thanks

  • No. I'm lazy.

  • this is no way close to how its actually played but still a good job

  • kick ass

  • is great how people makes their own unique version of songs It sounds great to me In my band I'm making a song and I wan ted that riff in but I didnt know how to play it but now I know

  • not rite but its still goood, great camera angle btw

  • THIS IS GREAT!

  • Thanks for your tutorials, very helpful man!

  • That's great to read! Thanks for the comment.

  • no problem, i am a beginner...i dont care if its the "Correct:" tab,lol..i just appreciate the tutorial...i can look up the tab,lol..but it helps to have a visual =)

  • This is how NOT to play Kashmir. He is half assing through the whole song.

  • Who cares? If you want to hear the original listen to the album, it's much better when people play their own versions.

  • thanks 4 tellin me how to play it!!

  • thnx man

  • the camera really helped this way

  • Very nice, like how you had the camera made it very easy to see what you where doing

  • thx! now i know how to play this wonderful song!, im a newbe :P

  • i have a question. ur really good in the 1st place

what frets are you playin the notes with

  • u can just look and see?

  • ur wrong intro its ( a 5 g 2,a 5 g 3 ,a 5 g 4,a 5 g 5 , a 5 g 7) my lesson teacher taught me.

  • Oh yeah! That would really give it a better sound. Thanks for the info, I'll do it that way from now on.

  • what you were doing until now was play just the D string and the A string but by adding the G string you are playing the D note twice giving a fuller sound

  • you don't have to hit the A. It makes the same sound as an open G.

  • I mean the A5 sounds like a D

  • actually the intro a2 g4, a3 g5, a4 g6, a5 g7, a7 g9

  • thanks

  • Good job...excellent lesson,I've been doing it slightly different, but your way is not only better ,but a little easier. Thanks Nick...Rock on buddy.!

  • epiphone?

  • Gibson.

  • yo, im gettin a guitar tomorrow and this is so the first tune ima learn, this shit is bomb ass big!!

  • umm yeah this might be pretty hard for yer first song i would recomend just some easy scales then maybe learn somethin easy like seven nation army or something like dat

  • first you better begin to learn what a tune is...

    :p

  • very smooth, nice job

  • i got a problem.. how can i drop D tune a guitar whit a tuner that only see the standard tune? pleas help!!

  • You can tune to the open D string.

  • im not that good but:P i can try.. Thx:)

  • APTuner for your PC works well too...

  • Thanks!!!! the video was great!!!!

  • is the end of the guitar just out of sight on the left, or is there another fret?

  • The last 'dotted' fret you can see is the third fret.

  • where did u get the tabs for these i think this is a simpler version of this song

  • If I'm doing it, it MUST be simple! :-)

  • you make it look so simple

  • gud

  • lol wohhh i swear this sounds like james bond

  • I always wish I had learnt to play the Guitar. Looking at this Video I don't think I ever could.

    Awesome. Well done.

  • Go for it, it's easy, I've been playing a ½ year and I do this easily

  • That's not the way the song in played by Jimmy Page. Many wrong notes. Check LZ dvd

  • good job!

  • i love cat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • AWESOME

  • at last a correct version!

    i owe you a pint sir!!1

  • who wears watches these days? haha j/k

nice job, I can learn something from it I'm sure

  • so wait starting off on the verses do you mute the b and e strings?
