I never owned one of these. I would however go to so many different lots to test drive them. What a fun car to drive! I could not afford one since I was on the way to college.
@FelixTheHouseFreak So interesting. I wonder if you are getting the models that were traded in from the USA? I have not seen one of these in I would say...13 or more years.
@BrentAudi Hi Brent, I'm pretty sure these are Mexican made though there has to be many that came from the US as well. They've been around for ages. Mexico loved Datsun and they still love Nissan. Sadly for us car buffs the recent economic growth within the past 10 years has whiped out most of the classic cars that the lower class still used. They are daily drivers, I see datsun trucks and cars working hard every single day, they look ROUGH but those engines still put around like nothing.
@BrentAudi Oh and no I do not own one. But there are two of these 280zx Datsuns in my neighborhood alone. Interestingly enough just when i finished writing my first reply I heard the neighbors Datsun truck coming home from work.
the 1979-1983 Datsun 280ZX was assembled in
Hiratsuka, Kanagawa, Japan

Nice... same color as my car.
The 5-speed stick is a blast. The 3-speed auto, not so much. The larger differential in the manual makes a big difference.

I hardly ever see these any longer.
Great commercial!
