i7 is 2.7ghz which is crazy fast for a laptop. My dekstop has 2.8 and it can chew more than I can handle.
The graphics card is an intergrated intel 3000 hd but the media dock has a 6650M radeon which is good enough for gaming. The hard drive is a 256 solid state drive (these are very fast, the difference is greatly noticable) and you get the idea. There are fact sheets like these all over the internet. He is just supposed to advertise to the average consumer.
horrible laptop guy do not buy it. I have a VPCf137FX I bought in January. Since then I've spoken to 50 Indians. It had replaced with a new one the third day because the battery failed. Few months later it happened again and they replaced the mother board. In the mean time the fan sounds like an airplane engine. If you Google Sony f series recall it'll show there was a recall for f overheating. They didn't correct it. and don't expect to take your 20 lbs overheating airplane engine in public.

@jordanfrazierful I think mac should be better, and Mac is cheaper than this one, I didn't notice any additional graphic cards on this model, on the other hand, Mac pro has intel i7 and AMD 6750m.
@MylesC1234 The Vaio Z wouldnt able to handle those without that seperate graphics card connected, whereas the m14x would easily handle that those games at medium to high graphics. the m17x is an overkill for those games and its big and heavy so i suggest not getting it. If i were u id pick the m14x, its cheaper and relatively portable and came play those games without lugging that dock around. The Vaio Z is meant to be a full on business machine.
I seriously don't understand why someone would pay so much for this laptop. An Apple MBA would cost much less and you can run Windows in a VM if you really need it. If a portable gaming machine is what you want then look to Dell Alienware.
@iApna few things, this uses a regular laptop core i7 processor, instead of MBA's core i7 ultra low voltage, which is way less powerful, this has a way better screen than the MBA and also the fact that it has a plug in graphics card included in the price is also a huge plus. Dont get me wrong, id still prefer a MBA as i prefer iOS and all its benefits, price wise its more affordable too.

Great looking laptop but not worth the cost. I am waiting for new MacBook Air to land and hopefully its beefy enough to run Parralles on it. At least this way you get best of both worlds.

Not that Windows hasn't been leaning towards that assumption as well, but I've always felt the Mac OS crosses the line in limiting what I can and can't do with it much more often. if the price came down abit, this would be a great laptop, the 7 hours battery life would last me a full day of college, and the power media dock would allow me to play all my games when i got home on pretty high res, what more can you ask for apart from a lower price?

It's not that the people buying this laptop have the money to do so, it's just that they have disposable income and will waste their money on this machine. I'm not hating on The Vaio Z, it's a decent computer but you're forced to buy it with the PMD. WIthout the PMD this Z isn't worth what Apple is asking for their cheapest Macbook Air.

It has a 1080p screen...raid ssd...carbon fiber...and it still lighter and thinner than anything apple has to offer. If you want the best, you pay, what's so hard to understand?

@koolaid20100 I don't think it's hard to understand at all since I use the "best" and I pay for it. Apple computers are the most targeted by PC users saying you can get so much more for less. Problem is in the PC world, the "less" isn't better and most PC laptops don't come close to Apple's. I'm mot taking anything personally. Did you see me trolling the Sony Z? NO. It's a nice computer. Problem is you're paying too much for it. Sony forces the customer to have the PMD which adds to the cost.

Over-priced means that you're charging people a high price for inferior or slow components...and that's what Apple's doing. Besides...most of apple's laptops are below 2k...they're not even up to the same league as sony. The max config for the Z can go up to like 4k$ with raid ssds.

@koolaid20100 The Vaio Z is NO GAMING LAPTOP. Wake up Mr. Delusional. The PMD has a decent GPU but it's more for doing CAD work or professional editing. Check out the reviews online but you better smoke up a joint first. The Z gets low marks for constantly getting overheated and down-clocking when trying to play games at even medium settings. All ultraportables are shitting gaming machines. Just deal with it, the Macbook Air is better. Sony is no longer a big player.

Sometimes I'll see Thinkpads but I hardly ever see anyone with a Sony Vaio no matter how cheap they are. Just deal with it, Sony is not a big player anymore. No matter how much Apple's products are people are still buying them and are satisfied. Sony is just the opposite.
