No but common sense makes you understand that if they found airplane pieces just about where contact was lost with the plane, chances are the plane crashed in the sea... and if it did, chances of survival are unfortunately very small...

I obviously agree that death shows us how meaningless our lives are, and how all in all, we don't control anything at all and are "slaves" for death. But what do you want to do about it? What if you know it, but don't want to think about the fact all you do is vain and useless, and that everyone will have forgotten you shortly after your death... That's what religions are for, give a meaning to people's lives. You can be religious and materialistic and the same time, can't you?
