  • how do u get this tone??

  • @brewjake It is just the D6 clav patch. If you have the RD-700GX I will look the tone number up if you like.

  • As they say, "Less is more". Also, "A few words well spoken will be long remembered. Too many words will be soon forgotten." Keep on groovin'!

  • Well done. Most of the videos out there are pathetic at best. Too many people play wrong notes and add notes that take away from the groove. Thanks for being true to the music!

  • @mandopiano Thanks for the great comment! I honestly think that I play this like a total rookie, but your comment is appreciated!

  • play it white boy!!!

  • it's a simple song. use a lot of fourths in right hand.

  • For those wanting to learn this "just like Stevie played," do realize that there are several different versions of this when he did it live, all played with different notes. The studio version has multiple tracks laid down, as said before, so don't try to do it just like that......get the feel of it, and make it your own. :)

  • @JJJJerm Exactly. My "breakdown" video response has the other Clav parts playing with me (trying) to play the main riff over the top. It is simply not possible to make a solo performance sound like the recording as there are at least 3 Clav tracks all playing at once.

  • @rhinowjb There's 8 tracks. There are only 2 different parts though. The 1st 5 tracks are the first groove with 4 different eq's, and then one track with in-tempo delay. The other 3 tracks are the 2nd groove with 2 different eq's and delay.

  • that is fucking AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!

  • @skatethehouse999 Really? It's quite amateur, but I appreciate the comment

  • I Love YAMAHA S90 XS, is the best !!!!!!!

  • @jamesteck1 Ok. Congrats.

  • Hello - I love that! Any chance you could do it dead slowly for both hands close up - I am trying to learn it for my band!! Thanks.

  • Stevie's clavinet part can never be reproduced live exactly as the recording since the recording is actually 6 parts layered together- but you did a nice job!

  • @raku217 Yes, the recording of Superstition has more than one Clavinet part. My video response has me trying to play the lead part over the "secondary" part (taken from some multi-track masters). Thank you for your kind comment.

  • - Hi Rhinowjb. With RD-700GX, If i need to record the song with multipletrack, what I need to do ?

  • @tuyentube Hi. You will need to use a sequencer (Sonar, Cubase etc.) to record multiple tracks: either midi or audio via an interface. The RD does not have on-board recording facilities.

  • @rhinowjb : Thank you. I will try to do what you say.

  • this is awesome!!!

  • @lety22 Cheers :-)

  • Dude, learn to take a compliment - it sounds good.

  • @CrocodileRocker Kind of you to say, thank you for the comment.

  • Yooo!!!Funk it up man!!! Great play over there!!

  • @GeorgeK10gr Timing is off, but thanks anyway :-)

  • amazing! Did you learn it by ear, or music sheet?

  • One of the very few people to play it right. Good job! A lot of people forget that the main riff is played on the bass cleff.

  • @frogca Kind of you to say, but I can hear all sorts of errors lol

  • dude! this is so BA. great job!

  • @NerdBoy001 Ha! I'll keep at it!

  • @ccwonder23 It is the original recording, played from the piano, via a USB key. My attempt to keep up with the Clavinet part is played over it. Thanks for the comment, I shall check out your video also :-)

  • dude thats sooo sick

  • @raiderhaiter43 Thanks :-)

  • @raiderhaiter43 It's not played very well, but thanks anyway!

  • @rhinowjb it is played very well

  • @raiderhaiter43 :-) Thanks

  • left hand lol?????!!!!!!!

    w i c k e d !!!

  • :-) Left hand? Thanks!

  • im trying to play the left hand part but no way!!

i guess its a matter of lack of experience :)

and recently ive broken my wrist so i shouldnt be very demanding and ambitious...:(

  • Maybe the awesomest cover of this song I've seen.

  • can do the tutorial of this song? please please please it's importantXD

  • Thanks for the comment. I don't think I play this well enough to do my own tutorial, and there are plenty other good ones on YouTube. I don't have the first idea which notes I was hitting on this video anyhow, was just bashing away within the chord shapes :-)

  • any chance of an over head view?

  • I'll try. At some point along the way I aquired the original Motown masters, so maybe I do another video with the lead D6 part muted so you can hear the notes I'm hitting.

I must admit, I'm very surprised at the number of responses/comments thus far: in my opinion my playing is very ordinary and does this epic track no justice what-so-ever!

  • @rhinowjb the problem is. you're not an african american. 50% of the funk from there

  • Pretty rockin' man.

  • Slight originality in every one i hear. By far the best though.

  • The first video to this topic I see on youtube I can take serious!

    Congratulations!

  • one of my favs xx
