  • I could do a backhandspring but now whenever i do it i do a backflip

  • It's just the biggest fear of actually jumping back >_<

  • You know, anyone can do this. It just takes hard work and determination. A year ago I could barely do a cartwheel, now I am working on my round off backhand spring full twist. Hard work will get you far, trust me.

  • HELP IM NOT SCARED BUT I CANT GO BACK I JUMP AND GO BACKWARDS BUT MY BODY DOESNT GO ALL THE WAY BACK FOR ME TO DO IT? :(

  • Can you do one of these for roundoff backhandsprings? I do mine off my elbows and almost hit my face D:

  • In my back handspring I jump back to much! Everything else is perfect what do I do?

  • for soe reason my landing always got my on my face

  • in my backhandspring, i bend my arms to much, and i need help!

  • Great vid, so much more than the usual tutorial. :)

  • I undercut and land in a sorta curled up ball shape :/ I've figured that once I build up my confidence doing them on a flat non-bouncy surface, I can work on my technique, but I don't want to develop bad habits... I'll keep practising!

  • thanq very much joe for dis video.it really throws light on d most common mistakes

  • i Keep Throwing My Head Back And Now I Keep Bending My Legs At The Very End HELP!

  • i keep landing on my knees help!!

  • @carpentercheerleader That's Because You Don't Push The Floor With Your Shoulders Or You Don't Do It As Strong As It Needs To Be Pushed.

  • My coach said:

    Put your arms out

    Do a "Wall sit," motion

    do a backbend, hips moving

    keep arms straight

    land with arms up high:D

  • Mine is the throwing shoulder part...and i keep landing on my toes...i sprained it now :/

  • @lipglossbaby99 --- Did it work? Or did it help?

  • @lipglossbaby99 -- I had the same problem, i thought it was cuz i was to weak but it wasnt i wasnt giving myself enough time to lock my arms after i swung through..........When you dip and swing back you need to give your self time to lock ur arms..... swing through and give ur arms time to lock (you can do this by jumping up more)

  • I KEEP GOING SIDE WAYS!!! ITS PISSING ME OFF!!!!!!! HELP PLZ!!!!!!

  • @celove101 look at ur hands when u go down

  • Hmm this video really helps. I didn't understand what hollow body meant till saw this. Back handspring sideways is definitely my biggest fault. I tend to look over my shoulder a lot because of the fear of not knowing where my body is going. I should get one of those barrels but I'm not sure where to get one. :P

  • i under cut really really bad and these didnt do much idk what to do ... any tips? plz reply if u do it would be really helpful!

  • @naynaw1

if you lean back, make sure your knees don't go over your feet, and whip your arms back a bit further than your ears, you will most likely NOT undercut! hope I helped :)

  • I can do it, but very slowly. It's more like a walkover than a handspring. I just need to be brave and JUMP!

  • I can't rebound:( and I think I under cut!

  • I always go crooked. ALWAYS. Ive tumbled for a while now and ive never been able to go straight. I dont look over my shoulder though. I think i snap my legs crooked. Its weird.

  • @13Chloeee If you go crooked you're more than likely throwing one arm back faster than the other. Make sure your thumbs are in line and look at your hands as you jump back so that your head stays in line.

  • Comment removed

  • what is a pike turn over. I am new to tumbling and have my first lesson in a few weeks.

  • their accents like cleveland form family guy :')

  • i throw it by myself but when i do either my right hands turns in or my BHS goes crroked or its both... :/ idk what to do

  • Comment removed

  • good job, but i think i am a bit better :/ can you do a double backtuck? nope i didn't think so !

  • The Barrell Drill to strengthen your legs would help.

Also, squat thrusts or any exercise to help you build a powerful explosive jump

    Good Luck !!

  • @JoeLangley Also rock And Rolls.'

  • When I do my back handspring, I don't jump hard enough.. I don't get why? >_<

Any tips on how to fix that?

  • @ImaShicopika96 You're either scared and hesitating to jump your hardest, or your leg muscles aren't strong enough. That's my guess.

  • Ugh!!! I always seem to undercut and land on my knees. Im going to have to retrain myself.

  • mine are way to short and imma lvl 7 what sud i do?

  • i do a deep seat but no as much. but i go further than supposed to. i get scared when i do a backhandspring without the deep seat so how can i fix it?

  • how come you don't have turned in hands? that's the problem i have. I just threw mine yesterday and the problem i have is turning in my hands or not jumping back enough. Although i did do it right a few times, the majority is me either not jumping up/back and/or turning in my hands. how should i fix this?

  • @flyingvfactorchick same with me. i just threw mine today and i can get over sometimes and not others.

  • @flyingvfactorchick omg those are MY exact same problems too! but nobody tells me how to fix them!!!

  • @thepeacegirls1234 oh well i recently fixed it. before you start, when they do the 5678, squeeze your bum and hands in blades on your sides. then when you sit back release the tension. I also bought wrist braces for both wrists so they dont turn inwards, and they help A LOT!

  • dude, i used to think a backhandspring was just a backflip with your hands. this is gonna be a lot harder than i thought.

  • I can't stop undercutting!!! My back is really flexible, so in the BHS my back just gives in, and my hands go where my feet were D:

  • Ok, so this is about my 4th time watching this video. I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice. Last week I was pretty close to getting my BHS, but tonight I was landing on my head. I think this was a combination of my arms collapsing (due to 2 1/2 hours training before) and possibly not travelling back enough. Are there any drills that anyone knows of that I could do to help strength, or any tips? Thanks a lot :)

  • @Ainkara Just lock your arms to avoid landing on your head. If you're not traveling back enough, you can get a tall mat, that comes up to about your mid thigh, and practice jumping back on it like you're about to do a bhs, but just jump back. Our teacher makes us do these :)

  • hey can some one check out my back handspring video and see if im doing it right cuz ppl sayin im doing it wrong

  • When I do my back handspring I either stop on my hands then snap out....or walk out...HELP! I don't know how to stop it!

  • My coaches said that I'm not jumping enough, so my legs come over too slow. Is there anything I can do to fix that, drill wise? I was thinking just practice straight jumps at home, but if anyone else has pointers, that would be great :)

Oh, and fantastic video by the way, this and the other back handspring one. Love them. :)

  • @Ainkara I had the same problem when i started and the only thing that helped me was thinking about hitting the handstand positing. When your hands hit, you should be in a handstand, therefor if you arent jumping enough, you wont hit that position. My problem was, when i threw the skill i focused on the landing. not everything else.

  • Ii can't throw mi self back. its really har. PLease help. also I am a beginner at home without a spotter

  • I use to do the looking over the shoulder thing but now i drop my chest in the swing back. I usually dont realize im doing it but if my coach tells me im doing it, i can fix it...

  • uhh my legs never go over i always just jump up

so annoying that i cant get it

  • i tryed doing it on a bouncy castle and i landed on my back EVERYTIME i cant do it :(

  • Ugh... I can't do it right, and these girls can INTENTIONALLY do it wrong!! The world isn't fair.

  • You can do it right if you continue to work hard.....DON'T GIVE UP

  • I do the "look to the side" thing... But I intend to fix that...

  • LOL NICELY :))) SO PRETTY

  • my arms always collapse =( help

  • i dont arch my back

  • I'm so lucky. I never had these mistakes. This is a good video for a beginner though

  • yeah i always bend my arms

  • so sexy

  • i like deep squats

  • I can't stop undercutting!!!! Its so annoying, what can I do? I really need to stop, my hands end up in the same place as my feet are!

  • @Joscelynsgymnastics Eyes follow hands. Hands search(slam into) for the floor as soon as is possible. Helped me loads.

  • @cheerleadaJM

    omfg!

    your so dumb!

    hahahhahahaa!

    don't you understand English??

this is the height of dumbness I've ever seen.

good luck with your amazing journey of dumbness.

  • @cheerleadaJM

hehe u proved that your dumb now.

    good luck..

  • @cheerleadaJM

they r showing the mistakes dumb-ass

  • what should be the cause of bending hands when i land on my hands?

  • you may not be jumping high enough. Next time try to jump higher like yuor rebounding. I kept doing that today, but i jumped higher and it helped, but don't sit back more or you'll squat too much

  • hows that thing at 3:09 called??

  • A barrel i think.. Sounds like he says that anyway

  • but this first girl does it wrong...

    she jumps way to high

  • thats the point

  • A damn good video!Telling faults and mistakes done by beginner.Good video ( =

  • great video(:

  • My coach told me that I move the weight of the leg too early so I "close" myself....

    help

  • sometimes i under cut and sometimes i dont but most the time i dont

  • i bend my legs

  • i undercut bigtime. big problem

  • i do the looking over my shoulder backhandspring but i dont know how to fix it no matter how much i try to go straight back i go sideways

  • ok like im working on mine. Instead once u go to leave the floor follow your arms and look inbetween them once u get off the ground. Should get u striaghter. I still go slightly crooked. Possibly if u try to lean opposite the direction taht u go it might level it out? I unno just ideas

  • thanks im gonna try it next week

  • the real objective which i see to gain speed is to go back. Most people not afraid of doing a backhandspring going higher, but going back makes people feel like their gonna hit their head when in truth thatd only happen if u didnt jump up and back. What i noticed about these bhs's that i tried yesterday and in one of them i got ALOT OF MOMENTUM it was scary.

  • Start off straight, swing arms up and down to get feel. Attempt: Stgart arms forward, Then swing arms back, bend knees and throw arms back while going back and looking back. Your trying to stretch to let your hands touch the ground in the shortest amount of time possible to get you over faster. So if you lok back and try to follow your arms you should just go back. Try not to jump high up youll see the difference. Going back instead of up feels cleaner. Ill make a tut sometime for help =]

  • BAD

  • I undercut.. Im really trying to fix it.. But when i do my back hand spring it seems like im doing it right. And i end up undercutting.

  • question- if you have really long legs ( i'm 5'9) is it better to bend to a 90 degree angle? 00:35

  • nah, just make sure you REALLY push and get a lot of power out of your legs, the leaning back is important, but rememeber to lock your arms or they'll collapse in the middle

  • Comment removed

  • wow that was an awsome lesson

  • This is helping in understanding the mistakes that I am making. Who cares about the music?

  • this video wasnt made to teach a back spring, it was made to help people improve or fix there backj handspring.

  • ...or horrible commentary. :P

  • jjjejoajeo

  • haha lol. the music sounds like itø's from some sort of horrible computer game from the early 90's :D

  • Terrible music

  • Comment removed

  • that helped alot bc i always pike in my back handspring

  • is it possible to traduce in french?

  • what is this deepcut he is refering to ?

  • means that you don't travel enough in your 1stt flight phase, causing bad arching of the back (no neutral handstand position), and making it impossible to give power to a 2nd flight phase... well, from what I understood.

  • i used to do back hand spring side ways :L :P

  • whats the difference between a backhandspring and a standing backhandspring?

  • there is no difference, there is more than one way to attempt a backhandspring. just standing and doing a backhandspring as shown in the video. or round off into a backhandspring which is easier and helps with momentum

  • I double bounce in the set for my backhandspring, i don't jump forward like the girl in the video did though, i have tryed to fix it but i feel like i get more power double bouncing

  • I think the most commom mistake is go sideways, like I do, if I just could correct that, I'd already be doing rigth

  • i used to undercut but now mine is as long as i am... im not sure how i fixed it but i just did!! this thing helped w/ bent legs!

  • LOL my firend kierstyn is undercut and bentlegs!! :P

  • you are so mean i have got millions of long mirrors in my house gold, silver and i do not believe in it any way , i sleep on a bunk bed .

    so, haha

  • wat r u talking about

  • i undercut alot..

  • Great video, I still bend my legs for some reason =(. Also, they are apart.

  • omg same! my knees ALWAYS bend and go apart and i don't know how to fix it :( lol

  • I DO THE SAME THING!!! i have bent legs arms and knees and they seperate and i dont know how to fix it =(

  • that explains alot about mine!

  • lol who would even squat that far r0fl

  • is it as hard as it looks

  • no. its really easy once u lern

  • Thank you so much!

  • thankss so much. (:

i can do uncountable back handsprings

    because of this. (:

    but my coach says...

that i have problems with bringing my arms

up to my ears fast enough.

but i have no idea how to fix it. helpp?!?

    [its harder than it looks]

  • can you please do one one how to strengthen arms and how not to bend them. mine are perfect except i bend my arms and i collapse on my head. HELP ME!!!!

  • i kno me too i was highly pissed as were my coaches they were like if u bend ur arms one more time i'm gonna make you do frog jumps (pain to the fullest).

  • haha thats kinda mean :P

  • That's the exact same problem I have!!!

  • practice handstands with or without the assistance of a wall if you can, this is good conditioning for the back hand spring. Aim for straigtness and good form

  • wow this helped so much. can you do one on bending arms?

ps: when prople double jump they jump backwards. at least i do

  • omg, this helped sooo much
