  • A panoply of song. This is Colin Meloy.

  • He could produce an album made up of six hours of faucets dripping and I would still listen the fuck out of it because he's Colin Fucking Meloy.

  • @riseuplikeangels yeah, I totally know where you re coming from. 'in the beginning God made Colin meloy. And it was good, very good' as we can all see.

  • My favorite modern day group and one of the best songs in forever to be released!! There is great music out there, you just have to find it!! Thank you Colin!!

  • marvellous!

  • lol he makes the funniest face when he says springville hill

  • God bless his voice.

  • The guitar sounds like it was recorded by a 4 Track

  • what the hell is an embling?

  • @bwilburful I believe he's saying "ambling," (a slow, relaxed walk) not "embling."

  • Such a amazing song! Great performance. Can't get enough of The Decemberists.

  • anybody know what key the harp is in?

  • @LoroHunt The key of A I believe

  • @LoroHunt G

  • Magic.

  • I like the guitar tone better on this one too than with his Gibby.

  • I love this. this performance and song has a '71 era Neil Young vibe to it. Even has the fiddling with the harp trap down like neil used to back in the day.

  • The portion from 3:05 to 3:30 gives me chills every time I listen to this. It sounds pure beyond anything I've heard before in a live performance. Grand.

  • @FriedrichWilliamII I feel the same about the part from 0:01 to 5:03

  • Bluegorilla ur correct. Its in a major. Capo 2nd fret makes it an "open" pentatonic, so ur major is a. So.... Ya ur right lol

  • who invited julian assange?

  • @TralfamadorianShoes Oh goodness, yes. Best comment ever.

  • I would say that you guys spend too much time trying to shut down the disliker on youtube. People have their opinions.

The harmonica is A i believe, for that's what I'm using to figure out this song.

  • @BlueGorillaGoes2Camp not to mention people mis-click. I do it all the time after iv'e had a bottle or two of vodka.

  • maybe I'm ignorant but I genuinely do not understand how someone could dislike this. everyone is definitely entitled to their own opinion for sure but I'm completely discombobulated.

  • Seems really difficulty to play guitar and the harmonica at the same time!

I can barley place my fingers on the frets and strum at the same time lo

  • @TheKiddem Keep Practicing! :D

  • @pootubeP90x my thoughts exactly

  • who the hell "disliked" this?!

  • Simply beautiful...

  • A war is being waged between who the greatest singer/songwriter of my generation is--mostly its Ben Gibbard vs. Colin Meloy but there are several other belligerent nations like Win Butler, Scott Hutchinson, Nathan Willet, and a few others trying to obtain a foothold. Who's the best though? I really can't say they're all so fucking good.

  • I turn this on all the time to use as background noise when I do homework. I can't, I hear it and I have to watch him perform. Dammit, Colin. . .

  • this whole damn album rocks my world. but this song and January Hymn are my immediate favourites!

  • This reminds me of the summer breeze in my hair, catching fireflies in the woods, and walking along the muddy Mississippi river. In other words, what a gorgeous new song by Colin. Superb.

  • I'm excited for the new album, but if he were to just do another acoustic live album, I'd be down too.

  • I am too excited for the new album. Colin Meloy, I love you, you do no wrong.
