what is the meaning of the fact that she rewinds the tape, appears to press play midway through the rewind, but in the cutaway then has to press play again to make the music happen? What is the meaning of the delayed/redundant instigation of the musical element of the scene? Does this indicate a level of repressed intention on the part of Mia? Or does it imply an element of importence, the inability to "go through with it?" Or something else?

An increase in norepinephrine from the sympathetic nervous system increases the rate of heart contractions. When a person heart stops in the ER, doctors give that individual norepinephrine (adrenalin) which can cause the heart to begin beating again. That's what this scene is attempting to depict.
