esta cancion hace mencion a una cancion de Vera Lynn especificamente a We'll Meet Again chequen en youtube la letra de la cancion de Vera Lynn... muy evocadora por lo demas...
@DaNiElRyNeMaRiN Vera Lynn was a singer who was popular during world war 2 and had a song called We'll Meet Again. and ive heard a couple meanings for the song 1 being that she often sang about the troops coming home and stuff such as that and for Pink he felt the promise of meeting again for him and his dad never came true because he died in the war. the other meaning i have heard is that he mentions the song We Will Meet again because as the wall is completed he doesn't think he will.
@alexbeathaloreach yes, but maybe his term of crying is something different than shedding a tear. Interpretation, and then again, it could be with tears, its not a matter of strength he could probably last being kicked in the balls, but cry to this, a weak spot.
@6wewib I'm 17 now. I relate to you and your world of what could've been. I fell in love with a girl who happened to be my best friend. She sees me only as a friend
this song makes me think of good times gone and wonder if anyone else sees the world getting more bleak. rodger put an abstract feeling into words perfectly
@chrisredfieldjm It's really beautiful. Its melody is fantastic. A couple of days ago I bought The wall movie DVD. I've neve paid attention to the lyrics before. But after that I got curious about the ideas behind other albums. So I'm listening to the other albuns carefully now.
@swverausc214 Thanks. Actually I was listen to the song when I wrote this comment and I confused myself becouse of the first part of the lyrics. Anyway, thanks.
I get goosebumps at " Does anybody else in here feel the way I do?" every single time. His voice cracks a little as the strings come in.....amazing. Saw Roger do The Wall a few days ago and was literally moved to tears.
@jong649 ah me too, my sister and I cried when this song came up, especially with the footage they were showing on the wall with the soldiers returning home to their families.
This song is extremely underrated. More people need to hear this song. It's just a huge mood-lifter, to me at least. I love Pink Floyd. Their work is flawless.
And by the way, he references to vera lynn, a popular singer during WWII. The song we'll meet again is the song he references to at about 0:33. The song is so beautiful i wish people who listen to soulja boy would understand this music like we do
The feedback when roger waters sings the part "we would meet again" is what really caught my eye in this song. You can tell by the placement of the noise, that meeting the person, or his father, never actually happened. It creates a sense of dissapointment, anger or possibly depression. His father being MIA was just another brick in the wall
Tell me I'm not the only one who thinks that this song would fit perfectly in a war movie, right after the main protagonist gets shot, crawls over to a corner, leans on it, and pulls out a picture of his wife.
It wasn't until recently that I just started listening to the individual track to The Wall, and I have to say, I'm amazed by the emotional powerhouse that these guys had in each and every song. There will really never be another Pink Floyd, and I think that's a good thing. They were just that good that, if there was somehow a band like them, it would be taken up by all the modern "music" folk.
in such a short song, its amazing how it makes life times of memories and stays in your head and heart...pure sorrow, pure art...when music was rel and authentic, and non beibered.
who needs verses and a chorus. I feel these short tracks are best appreciated when listening to the whole album in one go. The fact that it's short makes it more poignant and powerful. If you tried to turn this into a separate 'song' the effect would be considerably diluted.
@wildfire5610 Indeed, some people just can not swallow the fact that some albums are complex pieces of art composed of interconnected songs that are meant to resonate within some context. The culture of singles in which most songs are just dispensable ballast is really damaging to the understanding of art as an idea.
@moismirnoff It's perfectly fine being 1:34, it's transitions into a big peace about war and overshadowing family ties and connectsions, really the 2 songs need to be played together atleast.
@moismirnoff This is what how all the "real" albuns should be like. It's not supposed to listen just one song, or the first and then the fourth and the last. Coming right out from Roger's genious mind, this was all planned for us to listen from beggining to end, no stops. But i know what you mean...it's a sad thing that a song like this is so small.
@CostaStrat i totally agree with you, listening just to this song feels like having a puzzle of Monet, and your staring at just one piece. its a cool piece.. but you know..
It was myself, george mcchesny, rob mills and my brother john hill. Timeless music!!!! I used to trip my nuts off back in the day listening to floyd.... GOD BLESS THE WALL!!! trippin in the late 80's and early 90's. this album helped the ride.
@PsychedelicRockFan1 Vera Lynn, born Vera Margaret Welch in 1917, reached the height of her popularity as a singer during World War II. Much beloved by the European forces and especially by the British, Vera's optimistic songs provided a ray of hope even in the bleakest times.
@kennyscotten I totally agree with you. I think that emotion is what made all these bands from long ago so great. Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, even Creedence and The Eagles. All could emote so much through their music. I listen to rock and roll today and I just cringe at how bad it all is. Every song by every band sounds exactly the same. this song is about vera lynn a singer back in the 1940's sang a song called "we will meet again".This is such a good song i love the emotion that is put into this song.
"Remember how she said that we would meet again some sunny day?" & "Does anybody else in here feel the way I do?" especially with the guitar in the background. Beautiful.
Amazingly poignant song. You can hear the emotion in his voice. This was, imo, the last great Pink Floyd effort. We owe you a lot guys, even if most of your music was depressing. At least it is honest.
the person "Squadron Leader Canfield" (Michael Caine) who speaks there , he says : Where the hell are ya SIMON?! - simon -> a pilot part of his squadron who disappears for a second. and then comes the airplane descending sound and then the crash.
oh , forgot to mention the main thing -> It's from a movie The Battle Of Britain -1969. you should all watch it it's a nice one..
Thanks. Well, I think it's gonna be one of those songs (like "Look mummy, there's an airplane up in the sky") where people will argue what they hear. I dunno. He makes an A sound almost immediately for the word. I'll leave it up to everyone, Simon or Sergeant 0:03.
Vera Lyn was a very popular singer during World War Two. She kept up the morale of the soldiers with such songs as "White Cliffs of Dover" and "We'll Meet Again"
The string swell in this song right after "What has become of you?" is my absolute favorite moment of recorded music.

KMAakaKat actually you have a little mistake :
the person "Squadron Leader Canfield" (Michael Caine) who speaks there , he says : Where the hell are ya SIMON?!

Vera Lynn - Over the White Cliffs of Dover < great song.

Vera Lyn was a very popular singer during World War Two. She kept up the morale of the soldiers with such songs as "White Cliffs of Dover" and "We'll Meet Again"
