  • 3 years ago i told you that this video was absolutely amazing and i still think the same about it or even better!!

    You're an amazing guitar player!!!

  • Amazing, sounds very John Sykes!

Feels like traveling back in time whit my Delorean!!

  • @0zzyfan44 Thanks very much! I love Johns playing!

  • Dave, you've got such great feel man. The mark of a great guitarist - you get me into stuff which I never thought was my scene. Inspirational. :)

  • @bufon63 Thanks very much! I appreciate it!

  • Man I love that burst is it a 58-59 R8?

  • @HiOctane62 This is a 2000 model 1959...I LOVE it..

  • @ebealienhead coolness, I have a few 2000 Les Paul Standards. LOL

  • Really really like your playing. Do you have any stuff available on cd anywhere? I hit your YT stuff all the time but would love to have a cd for the car. Thanks!

  • @Guitarlon1 thanks very much! PM me, I have all my stuff on my iTouch, I could burn it for you if you like.

Check out my entry in the Ernie Ball Music man Challenge!

    Dave

  • This reminded me of kind of a Steve Vai/Satriani feel with your own stamp on it. Very dynamic, creative and cool phrasing. And I love that it has a melody and is not just shred for the sake of shred. Awesome job!!!

  • @slashmw Thanks very much! i appreciate it! I'd rather have melody and tone over shred anyday. Although I love all of the shredders I know my limitations.

  • man I want a gibson 59 reissue so bad! How much did yours cost?

  • @guitarlordification Dave here. I got this guitar on Ebay 11 years ago (Its a 2000 model)

I paid $3400. for it, and worth every penny!

  • Hi, very nice ballad, I really loved it :D

  • Hi, you are the best guitarist that i saw in youtube.. I love your style and your improvvisation and your tone... Compliments.......

  • @Steel7108 Thanks very much! Thats really nice to hear.

  • nice tone , nice intro , after that you seemed to get lost just bending notes , this track is not easy to please as many on here seemed to find out .

  • @AshStrat1 lost just bending notes...ok. Did you make it to the end? Just curious.

  • ALL MY STARS BRO ,,,STUNNING ,,SMILES ,GOD BLESS HAPPY HOLIDAYS ,UR BRO

  • @bryanoverturf1 Thanks again Bryan! Glad you liked it! Have a Happy new year!

  • i like the taste this song left in my mouth oh wait nevermind that was the taste of me throwing up my sphagetti o's jk i ate ravioles lmfao but seriously like how you touch that guitar and i say it like that because it sounds dirty keep trying for the dreams are never far from reality

  • @morelandjames Um, thanks...

  • your tone alone is worth the effort man....good job...

  • @gitarxtc Thanks very much! This guitar just sings to me..

  • Dude, I fucking loved you in Roadhouse. It sucks that Dalton laid you off so early on. :(

  • @diabx0r Yeah well, you know..

  • the start was good but had its little flaws, but damn after like a minute or two this got plainly amazing. you should release a cd with such ballads. thatd be awesome to relax

  • @Gigodem Thanks much!

  • Two videos of yours in the last ten minutes has made me a fan of yours Dave, seriously this is world class guitar playing, THIS IS MUSIC from an era when TRUE music was actually made instead of this garbage on the radio today. Truely epic Dave. You sure your not David Gilmours son lol?

  • @LayneCrawford thanks so much! I"m flattered. I agree 100%.

The music industry today is putting out the worst crap I've ever heard in my life.

Thanks god for bands like Dream Theater and the guitar gods who are still around.

Classic rock seems to be the only thing to listen to these days. Lady Gaga, Justin Beiber, to name a couple...are pure Corp. packaged JUNK! Thanks again!

  • Man with a sound like that u gotta be a John Sykes fan am i right?Love that kinda wide vibrato sounds so cool anyways you're awesome:P

  • @hunglikeayak Actually yes, I love Johns playing among several others. But yes, I was "thinking" Sykes when I played this...

  • Hey Dave!

What do you like better? Your R9 or your custom?

  • @PetieFr Honestly I love them both for different reasons...they are both amazing to me...

  • I listen a lot to all kinds of instrumental guitar tracks from famous guitarist from all over the world and I honestly have to say this was one of the most beautiful pieces I've ever heard! The phrasing was simply perfect as you left certain areas blank + the overall playing and bendings took my breath away. I daresay you're a world class guitarist! And that Les Paul has amazing sustain. (^__^)

  • @megatroll thanks very much!

  • Such nice tone and you remind me alot of Steve Vai for some reason :)

  • @SlashWorshipper1993 Thanks very much...Vai? Thats a compliment I will savor and enjoy, lol...Rock on!

  • the start of your video always freaks me out! Its 3 in the morning........

  • @oursonvie Sorry about that! Now get some sleep will ya?

  • hey brother that hit me man! great

  • @renagade12 Thanks very much! Glad you liked it!

  • @ebealienhead HEY DAVE LET ME ASK YOU BROTHER... IN CANADA WE HAVE A GREAT BEER CALLED KOKANEE DI YOU GUYS HAVE IT THERE??

  • @renagade12 Not sure. I will check and get back to you...

  • I knew you were gonna be good just by the way you were holding your guitar. Classical origins usually mean you're good. Nice job..

  • @2jordann2 Thanks so much! Yes, I've had people ask why I hold my guitar this way...I"ve done it this from day one. It just feels more comfortable this way...

  • awesome

  • @celticfrost78 Thank you !

  • Going trough my favorites today i saw this again I've watched it already 6 times today and each time I listen to it still gives me goose bumps, great tone and so much feeling, thank you for sharing, please keep the videos coming. sorry for my poor english.

what amp are you using? and what settings? I cant get any closeto such a great sound.

  • Thanks very much ilovebluessolos !

I play through a Digitech 2120 guitar processor...It's powered by a 50 watt Mesa Boogie stereo power amp...

It all goes through 2 Marshall 4x12 cabinets in stereo...some delay and reverb...

  • Great performance man! And Gibson sound is the best!!

  • Thanks so much rezitaly ! This Gibson is truly sweet!

  • Wow had a major flashback......Miami Vice....Crockett driving the ferrari into the night because someone just killed his buddy...........Great job man.

  • thank you much holmes1978 !

  • Does it take a while to find a good custom shop les paul?

    I've tried a '58 but I wasn't so crazy..

  • Hi Alu122112211221 ! wow..it seems your search will never end...i know how Les Pauls sound in general...for me it was how it looked...i looked online at pictures of 59 re-issues for 6 months before i found this one on Ebay...i like very little red spray around the body (like Jimmy Pages)...as soon as i saw this for sale i bought it...it was new at the time...

  • i just have one more question, and thank you for responding to my other questions. What is the general sound difference between a 1959 Gibson reissue vs. a Gibson 2008 standard?

  • nice

  • thank you clondan1 !

  • Dude!!! Wow.... Congratulations. You're simply the best. I've never seen a guitar solo so spectacular as this. I'm trying to play like you. From Brazil - Santa Catarina

  • thanks so much pressaoneutra ! this was a very inspiring backing track...i'm glad you enjoyed it! A big hello to Brazil!

  • How Much did you pay for your Les Paul?

  • $3400 on Ebay 10 years ago....

  • Is this guitar really worth the money?

And is there a difference between this and the 1957 Goldtop Historic?

  • hi Alu122112211221 ! i think it was worth ever penny but thats me...the only difference would be the looks...they sound pretty much the same....the real sound comes from YOU and your fingers and heart...the amp and guitar are just tools to express it..

  • Amazing Playing! 5* all the way, may i ask where did you get this backing track? do you have a link where i can get it? thanks and again geat job

  • thank you KEMTEN ! send me an e-mail on here letting me know which track (i'll forget, just remind me) and i'll e-mail it to you...

  • YES!!! Bad Santa!!!

  • thank you! i just watched i again the other nite to get in the x-mas spirit, lol....i LOVE that movie...watch my latest clip posting in a couple of days.....another BS reference...

  • DOES ANYONE OUT THERE IN THE WORLD SEE THIS MAN PLAY WITH SUCH PASSION "WOW" SIGN HIM UP !!! I LOVE THE LES PAUL MY SELF I OWN ONE I'AM A GIBSON GUY "QUESTION " ebealienhead WHATS YOUR HONEST THOUGHT ON THE PAUL REED SMITH GUITARS COMPARING THE TWO COMPANYS ???

  • thanks very much indeed holmes1978 !

hmmm, PRS, well, they are made with great care, fine attention to details etc but to be hontest i dont like the looks at all. its just a personal thing. i have nothing against PRS but i would never own one. to me the les paul is such a gorgeous guitar all around...a true classic!

  • what key?

  • Hi gagoshitcazzo ! not sure...i"m in standard A440 tuning if that helps...

  • Thanks man! yes, that was a look of relief! i was not feeling well at all during the recording of this take...i had done quite a few passes, each one a little different...when i played this one i was like"yes, got it...i can rest now", lol...

  • thanks so much MrLukernr ! actually i'm working with a new ballad backing track...

keep watcxhing...better yet, subscribe and get updates!

  • can you give me the price for the guitar?

  • HI elemental212 ! well, i got it new on Ebay in 2000...it was a no reserve auction. i paid $3400...when i recieved it i had it appraised by Mandolin Bros. in NYC. they say they would have sold it for $5800....that was almost 10 years ago..its gone up in value i believe...

  • Man that tone!!! What rig are you workin with?

  • thanks very much B2Rockin ! its a Digitech 2120 guitar processor, powered by a 50 watt Mesa Boggie stereo power amp, through 2 Marshall 4x12's in stereo..

  • Man that tone is some ear candy, thanks! Keep up the good work!

  • thank you B2Rockin! i appreciate it!

  • Very nice!

It's good to see such a great guitar in the hands of someone who actually knows how to use it :)

I liked how you kept it really toned down most of the time, and just used that massive sustain, saving the fast licks for the buildup at the end.

  • thank you Scalibq ! yes, i felt this one needed some breathing room...the sustain is all les paul...

  • Great Work, Better Than Santan would do it!!!!! I Great Melodic!!!!

  • thank you Acoustix4 ! glad you enjoyed it!

  • i wish i had a cd or album of yours to just sit here and listen to all at once. that way i wouldn't have to come out of my trance to get to another video of yours up. i don't know how you could be more soulful in your playing, keep em coming!

  • thanks very much zepfan1248 ! thats very nice to hear...contact me through the mail here and i will get you a CD of the stuff in mp3 format...

  • Mate, your playing sends chills through me. You have a profound sense of melody. Can't get enough of this.

  • thanks very much samdathi ! thats nice to hear...i'd rather be melodic than fast...i try to do a little of both....so glad it moved you!

  • Simply outstanding feeling conveyed through the guitar. Standing ovation chap.

    Fantastic talent.

  • thanks very much LokoZerg ! i appreciate it!

  • Loved your playing, and must say that the sound of that guitar gives me goosebumps.

  • thank very much Forsmannen ! this guitar is very goosebump worthy, lol...

  • amazing playing man and Les Paul's are definately the way to go :)

  • thank you Jmorgasmic ! agreed...although i just bought my first strat and i'm loving it!...check out my new clip!

  • See this is what modern artists lack, a profound emotional connection with the notes that they play. there is no emotion in their playing, this on the other hand was fantastic. You are by far one of the best guitar players on youtube.

  • thanks so much cuddles103 ! i agree..people need to slow down some and feel the notes...i love the slow bend and sustain just as much as shredding...maybe more...

  • Kinda reminds me of bucketheads electric tears album

  • thank you t2t80 ! i've heard that comparison twice now....i'm not familiar with Buckethead...perhaps i should look into it, lol....thanks again!

  • Yea go check him out. Stay away from the GnR stuff, they just wanted someone to emulate slash. But I would suggest population overide, electric tears, colma.

  • Wow, I'm amazed! Great tone, great playing. You play one highlighted solo and another one and another one... More than most "Guitar heros" could ever think of!

  • thanks so much juppheidi ! more on the way!

  • hey men, you make it very nice.

do you have the backing track? can you send it to me plis?

  • thanks very much guillermomateos!

i'll never remember to from here...send me a e-mail to remind me, i'll get it to you.

  • wow best iv seen so far... nice runs with emotion

  • thanks very much d3188p !

  • beautiful playing beautiful guitar

  • thank you lespaullover13 !

  • hey great tune you made out of that dude. i know it was a while ago but do you know what artist or whatever this backing track was categorised under ? i wouldnt mind coming up with something on this myself

  • its under Jam tracks bro

  • thanks for that dude

  • hmmm, yes, i belive they are right...jam tracks....if not let me know...

  • i couldnt find it, there was one called rock ballad and i tried that, but there was nothing called 80's something or anything like that, it might have been taken down by now like

  • I can't even find links on that site, but I wouldn't mind getting my hands on this backing track too.

I've heard quite a few people use this backing track, but this vid right here is easily the best of them all....
