@majob There are two types of magicians in Touhou: the human type (like Marisa) and the Youkai type (like Patchouli). While the two share the same classification, they are still not the same. (I watched a Let's Play of the fan game Touhou Mother, where the difference is summed up better than I possibly can.)

Alice knows that she will outlive Marisa. That's why she rebuffs her early on; she's too afraid of losing her to time, as she one day will. The video, the way I see it, is about Alice coming to terms with that fact, and realizing that as bad as that is, it would be even worse for her if she *never* told Marisa how she felt. So she decides to enjoy the time she *does* have with Marisa, rather than live for centuries regretting what could have been.

Youkai are supposed to be stronger than humans, yet Marisa is stronger than Alice. If you think about it this way that would mean that it would be very easy for Marisa to become a Youkai and live longer, since the much weaker Alice did as well.

Good lord, what an abruptly depressing ending to what is otherwise a bright and cheery (or at worst, bittersweet) song. I suppose it's a bittersweet ending, too, but still. Ouch.

@KazuyaRazuKazama Marisa isn't dying anytime soon, youkai or not. The end of the video is a long time into the future when Alice is still fine but Marisa aged to death. But, remember none of this is canon. I mean, the whole relationship is just fanon. But whether this video existed or not, the fact remains that humans die sooner or later. Even if it's extended to a few hundred years in Gensokyo. All we can hope is that Marisa does become a youkai, extending her lifetime. If we even get that far.

Part 4- So, in conclusion, this fan vid could be showing us what Alice dreamed, one. The artist(s) interpretation of AlicexMarissa, two. The whole vid may be showing us her fears and how she thinks she'll react, three. Could be an artistic way of saying appreciate life while you can, four. Or, heaven forbid, this can be an actual happening and Marissa really is dead. That day may come (though it seems Marissa may yet become a Youkai), but I don't think they've reached it yet rather we assumed it
Part 3- (before I continue, I apologize if it looks like I'm spamming. Just trying to get these thoughts out my system(^_^).) I think we've all taken the video to be a series of events that happened over a course of time, while in truth, it could've been just a matter of hours in the night. While it's clear that Marissa is the one in the grave, this could be just a visual of Alice's fear. It might even be just the artist's way of showing us what Alice fears and not something that actual happened
Part 2- ...her admitting to Marissa her feelings, Marissa's eventual death; all these things could just be the result of her fears and feelings, mixing together, creating all these scenarios (or bringing up memories). And at the end of the video, she's awake and gone out, probably to Marissa to apologize, and they're still friends. We wouldn't know if she showed her feelings, but perhaps the dream made her realize that she should enjoy Marissa's company as long as she can. Simply, all was dream.
Okay. First thought- Shes remembering the fight that they had and she's depressed about it, so she goes to the doctor to get some medicine to help (from a few comments I read, they're supposed to help her have sweet/happy dreams). She may have taken the pills, fell asleep, and simply dreamed the bulk of the video. With that said, like medicine in our world, the pills didn't work as they should, a result of Alice's mind weighing so heavily on Marissa. Her and Patchy working together...

@KazuyaRazuKazama You may be able to live bullets, but even yukari cant prevent death of old age. its unavoidable, and marisa is only human, youkai can live forever, which is why you see these figures living up to ages 1000+ but humans like reimu and marisa will die of old age soon enough, reimu most likely since she resents youkai, and most likely wont become one to live forever. marisa on the other hand, doesnt care about youkai... long story short, reimu and marisa WILL die, sooner or later.

For those who didn't get it (don't worry, you are not alone, I didn't get it 1 year ago either):
Alice went to Eirin (girl at 0:32) to get some sort of "medicine" to help her with bad dreams (perhaps) and then she dreamed all that stuff with marisa. In this dream, basically, Alice at the beginning is portrayed in a walk while being at her current relationship with Marisa (which are supposedly in an "acquaintance").
Although Alice secretly does love Marisa, Alice cannot find it in her heart to directly tell Marisa that she loves her. Eventually, Alice tells Marisa that she loves her on their broom ride. However, Marisa is a human and Alice is a youkai, meaning Marisa will naturally die sooner than Alice will. Then Marisa dies and Alice mourns her death.
This is why she can never tell her and avoids her by being tsundere: she knows that she won't be able to hold the pain of her death.
I liked it though. When the starman DX almost killed Alice Marisa completely freaked out and simply killed it with some variation of Master Blade or something. Crazy! X_X

Alice first appears as both the Stage 3 boss and EX-boss of Mystic Square for the PC-98, returns as the Stage 3 boss of Perfect Cherry Blossom, makes up one half of the Magic Team (the other half being Marisa) in Imperishable Night, and is one of several characters you can select as Marisa's partner in Subterranean Animism.
If the end if this video were to come it would be a sad day in Gensokyo... Wait wouldn't this also be the end for several other characters as well? o_o

Marisa is an "Ordinary Black Magician". She's a human with magic skillz. She's not a youkai or anything....
.....YET. Marisa is uber powerful, I'm sure she'll become a youkai first instead of dying of old age like a human. She's just too epic not to. (Although, the idea of a Youkai-Marisa kind of scares me... )
She'll probably face the same fate as any other super popular character like Cloud from FF VII or Goku from DBZ: Eternally young and milked (not literally) by her creator untill she will become obsolete old character like Mima or Shinki, kept alive only by touhou wiki and die hard fanarts.
@gamezila1987 in touhou 11, you dont exactly PLAY as a youkai, but you can choose between marisa or reimu, and three youkai/kappa/magician assistants from the surface. you get to play AS youkai in touhou 9, imperishable night. you can break a team and play as the youkai on it's own if you 1cc on normal+
This path can be avoided. If Alice used to be human but trained herself to become a magician. Marisa could totally follow the same steps, and then we would have a happy ending :)
They just had to throw that in the end, huh? Now I am the sadness.

By it's title, translation would be Alice Turns Sweet, right? And she says, "Make me Sweet". Afterward, she tells Marisa she loves her. It looks sad, but it's really not. It's about accepting reality, finding happiness in what little time we have with our loves, and cherishing those memories. Enjoy life with d 1 u love. You Go, Alice(^_~).

Part 4- So, in conclusion, this fan vid could be showing us what Alice dreamed, one. The artist(s) interpretation of AlicexMarissa, two. The whole vid may be showing us her fears and how she thinks she'll react, three. Could be an artistic way of saying appreciate life while you can, four. Or, heaven forbid, this can be an actual happening and Marissa really is dead. That day may come (though it seems Marissa may yet become a Youkai), but I don't think they've reached it yet rather we assumed it

Part 3- (before I continue, I apologize if it looks like I'm spamming. Just trying to get these thoughts out my system(^_^).) I think we've all taken the video to be a series of events that happened over a course of time, while in truth, it could've been just a matter of hours in the night. While it's clear that Marissa is the one in the grave, this could be just a visual of Alice's fear. It might even be just the artist's way of showing us what Alice fears and not something that actual happened

Part 2- ...her admitting to Marissa her feelings, Marissa's eventual death; all these things could just be the result of her fears and feelings, mixing together, creating all these scenarios (or bringing up memories). And at the end of the video, she's awake and gone out, probably to Marissa to apologize, and they're still friends. We wouldn't know if she showed her feelings, but perhaps the dream made her realize that she should enjoy Marissa's company as long as she can. Simply, all was dream.

Okay. First thought- Shes remembering the fight that they had and she's depressed about it, so she goes to the doctor to get some medicine to help (from a few comments I read, they're supposed to help her have sweet/happy dreams). She may have taken the pills, fell asleep, and simply dreamed the bulk of the video. With that said, like medicine in our world, the pills didn't work as they should, a result of Alice's mind weighing so heavily on Marissa. Her and Patchy working together...

There's two ways to look at this. You know... if I go by that ending.... and if I'm understanding correctly (that youkais live for a very long time, if not, forever)... did Marisa die?
...I agree with TheDarkSwampert down there. This vid made me happy, sad, laugh, saw awww... and then cry a little. You'd think by existing Gensoukyou, death wouldn't be such a difficult thing to avoid.

@KazuyaRazuKazama You may be able to live bullets, but even yukari cant prevent death of old age. its unavoidable, and marisa is only human, youkai can live forever, which is why you see these figures living up to ages 1000+ but humans like reimu and marisa will die of old age soon enough, reimu most likely since she resents youkai, and most likely wont become one to live forever. marisa on the other hand, doesnt care about youkai... long story short, reimu and marisa WILL die, sooner or later.

For those who didn't get it (don't worry, you are not alone, I didn't get it 1 year ago either):
Alice went to Eirin (girl at 0:32) to get some sort of "medicine" to help her with bad dreams (perhaps) and then she dreamed all that stuff with marisa. In this dream, basically, Alice at the beginning is portrayed in a walk while being at her current relationship with Marisa (which are supposedly in an "acquaintance").

Although Alice secretly does love Marisa, Alice cannot find it in her heart to directly tell Marisa that she loves her. Eventually, Alice tells Marisa that she loves her on their broom ride. However, Marisa is a human and Alice is a youkai, meaning Marisa will naturally die sooner than Alice will. Then Marisa dies and Alice mourns her death.
This is why she can never tell her and avoids her by being tsundere: she knows that she won't be able to hold the pain of her death.

Alice first appears as both the Stage 3 boss and EX-boss of Mystic Square for the PC-98, returns as the Stage 3 boss of Perfect Cherry Blossom, makes up one half of the Magic Team (the other half being Marisa) in Imperishable Night, and is one of several characters you can select as Marisa's partner in Subterranean Animism.

.....YET. Marisa is uber powerful, I'm sure she'll become a youkai first instead of dying of old age like a human. She's just too epic not to. (Although, the idea of a Youkai-Marisa kind of scares me... )

@gamezila1987 in touhou 11, you dont exactly PLAY as a youkai, but you can choose between marisa or reimu, and three youkai/kappa/magician assistants from the surface. you get to play AS youkai in touhou 9, imperishable night. you can break a team and play as the youkai on it's own if you 1cc on normal+
