Oh, so are you an Iraqi that left as soon as the war started and complain from the safety of a country thousands miles away from Iraq while brave Iraqis actually fight for their country and coalition fight with and for Iraq?
There is only so much the United States can do for you. It's time for Iraqis to stand up and fight for democracy and not allow these gangs to kill innocent people in a battle for power.
@usindependent50 Since when do you know me so well that you can predict i left as soon as the war started? Iv been in the uk for 11 years i know what going on in Iraq because of the amount of family that i keep in touch with, and the deep free minded knowledge that i seek to learn and teach my self. The states done nothing but bring destruction to Iraq. You are a human being like me my friend why are you on the side of big corperations that use YOU as bully boys of the world for empire expansion
Because I know who real Iraqis are and what they stand for. Or at least the ones with some sense of moral values. And I was correct. You can barely call yourself an Iraqi. I'm fighting with and for Iraq. I spent 30 months in Iraq with the United States military. And I have visited it 7 other times in my free time, after the liberation.
@usindependent50 Moral values? please stop talking as if you know me personaly, im probably the most moral person you will know. I know that there are many americans who have good intentions but its sad to see they dont know the real intentions of the whole purpose of the war in the first place. Liberation.. what liberation?? Thaat is nonsence! Thank you for pumping over 100 tons of bullets that each contain 30mm of uranium through all the gulf wars, how can you be on the side of such disgust
dont forget that the americans have killed more iraqis in the war than saddam ever did, and he ruled for 30 years and the americans have been there for less than 10 years
This process keeps going because we're stupid enough to believe our own lies. We want revenge for those people we have lost. Soldiers have lost soldiers. Many americans have died. They want to revenge those deaths. They want to rebuild everything they destroyed. This process probably won't ever end.
Do not believe that killing others will resovle this. Do not resort to harming an american or a soldier. The only way to stop this bloodshed is to stop the cycle of revenge and bloodlust.
Everything they say is just words. They say this was all for the better. But all that comes out is blood and sadness and soldiers on the street.
I do not believe their lies. I am not a terrorists. I am a citizen of the world. I believe we have caused more harm by attempting to remove the saddam regime. We're like a surgeon that went to remove a lesion off the stomach but ended up tearing away several organs in the process. We're in denail. We do not spread goodness.
Bush and Blair should be tried for war crimes and Obama should be jailed for his lies of 'withdrawing all troops' just to get himself into the whitehouse
LIARS LIARS LIARS they are being paid by us to LIE to us
Kike, Kike, weasel-like, Scheming since a hook-nosed tyke, Counts his pennies day and night, Squeals if one rolls out of sight, Promotes a thousand social ills, For which you'll have to foot the bills, Eventually, in love he falls, And weds a shrew who swipes his balls, Soon this pair of whining scum, Will beat their breasts just like a drum, And lie about the loved ones lost, In a myth they call "The Holocaust", Course and pushy, greedy and trite, Beware the Jewish PARASITE!
In Germany, life was this way before the invasion. Though Hitler was bad, life was good in Germany. Everyone said, Not everyone in Germany is a Nazi, it is wrong to wage war with Germany, because we would be killing innocent civilians that have nothing to do with fighting the global war in Nazi. So what did the world do? They stood by and did nothing. Nazi grew and grew, until it was too late to realize that the world made a mistake. Evil succeeds if good men do nothing, God bless Iraq.
Actually Saddam organized the oil for food program to help these children. And what would you want him to do? Tell the U.S that Iraq surrenders and give away their oil and independance? Are the Soviets to blame for the 20 million people killed from Germany. If I punch you in the face would it be you fault?
in iran and north korea have nuclear bombs, united states dont attack them because they are scary, if they attack iran they will get destroyed, united states dont found weapons in iraq, but yes they find alot of oil to stole
Iraq was allowed to sell oil for food and medicine. The left's mate Saddam just used the sanctions as another excuse to control his opponents. The leftie press didn't visit hospitals in areas loyal to him...
It is so sad to see those children with no medicine. And their parents are suffering so much. And think, even if these children did live, which I assume some did, they have only known war. It's a shame.
I know the current Iraqi Health Minister personally. When saddam was toppled he was full of hope in establishing a viable and modern health industry in Iraq. He's been there a while and I bet his hopes are dashed by the endless violence.
DEPLETED URANIUM IS KILLING US...and who's fault is that...ours...so why don't we change the way this world is ran and vote all the people who have been in congress for too long...out of there...just vote the imcumbents out.....vote for someone new....this is the PEOPLE'S PARTY.....let's do something about this
Halliburton is probably doing great in Frankfurt, too. The U.S. consulate has vanished from the westend into the U.S. military base. Triple steelfences have been erected there and pillars around the living areas - to no effect at all in a sleepy city were german and foreign jew-, muslim- and christian-stemming people are mostly busy with parkett-flooring. It's really terrifying to see the once most energetic gouvernment of the west declining from enlighenment into paranoia
Your less imperialistic ancestors used to call it "freedom", now you name it "cowardance" (well, whatever...), little stormtrooper. Hey, come over to Frankfurt, it's not like sweden, but I can still show you how socialism works for the people here and war did not. Try a look from above on google maps - about every house here is new or has been rebuilt. Maybe you'll get just an idea why most people here think of 9/11 as a crime, not a reason for an aimless war making 3000 dead bodies 300000.
Thinton, I am assuming you know that Darfur is IN SUDAN! The name was changed so they could not include the 2.5 to 3 million genocidal deaths during the Clinton years. Would be kinda like you complaining about the California War in Iraq. ???? Yah, George Clooney is an F'ing genius.
Has anyone heard of the Biggest scandal in the 20th Century? Oil for Food? Chirac took 1 billion dollars. Putin 1 billion, Kofi Annan's son 1 billion...Clinton pardoned Marc Rich the biggest broker in Oil for Food...where do you think his 1 billion lays buried? In George Soros back yard to dig up for Hillary's campaign? Oil for Food is why the there were no medical supplies...the above Western Leaders are to blame....they were PERSONALLY enriched per the suffering of the Iraqi children.
GREASEPIG, If there are NO RESOURCES to distribute and the system suppresses the creation of resources, the system is a POOR SYSTEM no matter how well meaning. Socialism has been tried and does not work. I fails to take in to account the need for incentive...almost immediate gratifation humans need to produce...and the tendency of many to slack off an rely on the work of others.
As has been stated before, socialistic arrangements are not forms of gouvernment, but forms of distribution of resources. For example U.S. police or french railways or german "Arbeitslosengeld". When it's about social security and services for all, this works quite well, doesn't it? Britain just resocializes its railwaysystem after bad experiences and I'm sure you wouldn't like Your police-office to be after profit like your lawyers. When I read about U.S. lawcases, it often gives me the creeps.
artfart, Socialism does not work. You think you can redefine something and change its realilty. There needs to be something to distribute for the distributing sysem. Socialism CREATES oafs and sloths....and worst despots. Capitalism creates greedy bastards...but at least there is something to DISTRIBUTE.
There's of course always flaws in the system - like the shortsight of a parlament and many more. But there's some states in europe, where democracy with socialist institutions/insurances etc. works quite well. It's a good feeling walking through an unknown city from north to south without fear, because people are at least not too desperate. Of course, one has still to be awake, or the system will get corruptet by any group.
Second, the government claimed Iraq had WMDs. They were never found in any significant capacity. Saddam consistently denied any Iraqi possession of WMDs, nuclear or otherwise. Bush, NOT Hussein, ordered the United Nations weapons inspectors out of Iraq in the days before the invasion. North Korea has CLAIMED possession of and TESTED nuclear weapons. But we went ahead and invaded the country denying possession rather than the one admitting it. I guess honesty scores some points with Bush.
If you want to impeach Bush, I'm with you...for the right reasons. He delayed the invasion of Iraq to ALLOW the WMD's out of theatre...BEFORE the invasion we read about all of the materials going to Syria...Why? Because Germany, France, and Russia were prividing the materials!...Bush didn't WANT to find them...France gets oil for $12/barrel from Iran....What do you think Iran gets in return??
The way I see it, we Americans were presented with two main reasons for this invasion. The first being Saddam's "genocide." If what the description of this video says is true, there have already been approximately 33.3% more deaths in Darfur than in Saddam's Iraq. Why do we care more about fewer people who died years ago than more people who are dying now?
thinton, Why do you care more about the "Darfur" genocide but don't care about the "Sudan" genocide of 1995 to 2001...2.5 milion by the way. Could it be that those were the Clinton years? Or is it because the 1995 to 2001 deaths were mostly Christians being killed. Do Christian women and children being raped to death, burned to death, tortured to death, while the Mulsim perp's families cheered them on seem less offensive to you?
like upbringing and education of children (20 years), Citybuilding, Trafficplanning, public Health, etc.. I think, the democracy/ monarchy of Sweden does a better job there with their "Volksheim"-policy. Of course, one still could elect a king or queen, but that person should still be in charge and have to answer to, when the children have grown up.
Lynch mobs are pure Democracies. A Republic has LAWS to protect us from mob rule. Greasepig, would you advocate that a "Jim Jones" community in a remote area should be able to stone girls to death for Adultry? How about if that girl lived on a neighboring farm, in a county controlled by Jonesies? Our founding fathers did think this through before penning the Constitution.
artfart, It is nice that Sweden does so much for their people. But why is Sweden and the rest of Europe not invaded and taken over by say...radical Islamists? Could it be that the evil World Policeman is the only thing that allows 100% of Swedish monies to be spent domestically? In other words, WHY SHOULD I subsidize your cowardly prospertity? I married a tall Nordic Blonde Beauty ..but hot chicks is not enough!
Sweden has no enemies since no nation thinks of Sweden as an enemy. America has invaded dozens of nations the last 5 decades. Sweden has invaded zero. And Sweden is accepting more refugees from Iraq than the US. Sweden is a nation of 9 million.
Violence begets violence. Not the other way around.
Swedes pay up to 50% taxes for general welfare helping each other out to a top standard of living, health and security. You could very well leave your bike unlocked in most cities there. NATO and Russian vessels are regularly being observed alike by independently developed airplanes as swedes wish to keep out any of our "evil" empires. Unlike Switzerland it was a safe haven for jewish dans and germans and Wehrmacht-deserters alike.
Hallo Graeserig, I've seen and read a little here and I'm really impressed by the steady and open political work done in this discussion. Wow! BUT while I basically like the Ideas of power to the people (Democracy) and common care for everyones BASIC needs (Socialism) I still think, people elected for a few years or thinking shareholdervalue for 8 weeks do not really handle longtimeissues
Fucking bollocks. Brain, obviously how are the people going to afford the medicine if there are sanctions? One area being hit economically will disrupt all other areas. This is very basic economics, take it sometime.
Duh! Reagan took Saddam off the list of alleged sponsors of terrorism in 1984, then sold him WMD despite mounting evidence of atrocities. Of course, Reagan's other buddy orchestrated the 9-11. America keeps paying for conservative fuck-ups.
"Duh! Reagan took Saddam off the list of alleged sponsors of terrorism in 1984, then sold him...America keeps paying for conservative fuck-ups."
Grisflyl, Roosevelt allied with Russia in WWII and 8 years later America was in an enormously expensive arms race with the Russian...Vietnam being the most infamous product of Roosevelts Folly...."America keeps paying for Demowack fuck-ups"!
Learn history. Germany was the superpower back then. Russia did most of the work in the war. Would you have wanted for Russia to have won in Europe on its own? That's the reason for the nukes. America needed to defeat Japan before Russia could claim another (part) victory.
Vietnam was an ally in WWII. They helped defeat Japan. But, yes, LBJ was a monumental failure. He lied to the American people. He was as bad as Bush.
Gris, I will spell it out, since you lack the insite to "get it". Russia was our ally....things change. Roosevelt KNEW the Russians would likely would become a problem...Taking the Russians as allies was NOT a mistake...it was pragmatism. Complaining about what the U.S. backing of Saddam or the Mujadeen is more or less ignorant. Bush has issues...impeachable grade issues...but you don't seem to finding them.
No - really it isn't. I used to think so, but not since I realized they are intentionally killing and sacrificing their own kids and then also using them to manipulate the world.
So you're saying that these mothers intentionally inflicted their babies with cancer, just in the off chance that some guy with a video camera would happen by the hospital and show them on youtube so people would say... poor baby... and thereby manipulate the world.
But not you granitepeace, You're too smart for them aren't you.
AnD.. how does one go about inflicting a child with cancer anyhow. Dance in a cloud of depleted uraninum dust? That won't work, according to the US government DU is .. well, depleted, that is to say that it is not radioactive and not harmful to iraqi civilians or to US troops... of course we would not expose our troops to radioactive dust... of course not. (can you feel the sarcasm?)
granitepeace, I think what happened is that you finally got the numbers right and now you simply cannot accept that your government, and YOUR tax dollars contributed to killing a million children under the age of 5 (according to UNICEF). i read your profile and what you said about people harming children. Why does the US government not have to answer to YOU!!! it should... blindness is not patriotism, do something about it... for example, Stop paying your taxes!
If you want the truth you need to dig deeper there were at least 20 different countries that helped fund the Iraq WMD program. None of the chemicals use on the Kurds were from the USA, but you might want to look into Germany, Singapore and India. We all have blood on our hands find out the facts..
true dat... i know a woman from Iraq, self exiled for 23 years after being in Saddam's torture chambers twice. She said the equipment used inside was made in the USA and in Germany.
I think all governments have pretty much the same agenda... and , at least, none that i know of, are "for the people by the people".
Jamsie... also i didn't even mention the Kurds or the gas..
It was the sanctions that killed millions, which were led by the USA and supported by enough the UN security council... whom in my opinion should all be tried for crimes against humanity and buried next to their good friend Saddam.
Between 60,000 and 150,000 Iraqi dissidents and Shia Muslims are estimated to have been killed during Hussein's reign. Over 100,000 Kurds were killed or "disappeared". (Mass graves discovered following the US occupation of Iraq in 2003 suggest that the total combined figure for Kurds, Shias and dissidents killed could be as high as 300,000).
300,000 is a lot of people. Exactly the same number i found when i looked. Thank you for the confirmation..
Now look up how many were killed by sanctions. In 12 years (half as long as Saddam was in power)it was around 2 million (that's over 6-1/2 Saddam's).
For this, I think both Bush's, Baker, Clinton, Albright, Powell, Rice, Rumsfeld, Cheney, Kofi, and the entire UN security council should be tried for crimes against humanity. They could be buried right next to their good buddy Saddam.
Grease, Would you put BJ Clinton on trial? He bombed Serbs into the stonage so he could give Kosovo to Albania and give/pipe Caspian oil to the Germans. THIS is why Putin is so pissed. Bush is supporting this also. Clinton turned a blind eye as 2.5 to 3 million Black Sudanese were genocidally killed 1995 to 2001. That is 4 times the number killed in Rwanda over a 10 to 20 times longer period.
You don't even quote accurate numbers - foolish girl. Sadam killed much more than that. How is refusing to do business with a terrorist our fault for the deaths of his people. You commit the crimes - you pay the price
foolish girl? granitepeace... do your homework please.
idaturk was simply quoting the description of this video.
I got the numbers of the best consensus from various sources most notably the UN. Yeah, The sanctions killed way more people than Saddam.
And as for doing business with a "terrorist"...
Sanctions are against the people, NOT the leaders. You can rest assured that Saddam and his family never went hungry or without meds... or a shiny new car for that matter.
Up to 450,000 Iraqi and 730,000 Iranian combatants died during the Iran-Iraq War. An estimated 1,000 Kuwaiti nationals were killed following the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. As many as 200,000 Iraqis died in the ensuing Gulf War.
182,000 people were killed during the Anfal campaign and that chemical weapons were used in an operation that amounted to an attempt to "wipe out the Kurdish civilian population
im not a genius, but america has 2% genius like everyone else. that doesnt protect us from making bad decisions. your government is not protected from bad decisions either, wherever youre from. as a democracy the US will eventually do right or collapse. just like your democracy. we dont want it to collapse and over half of us dont like dubya either. thank you for the video hopefully it will inspire more to help the best way they know how.
This video shows what Saddam did to his own people by refusing to comply with U.N. Resolution 1441 (that the whole "world government" voted on). He didn't. Instead he used the "Oil for Food" money for weapons and his own interests, which didn't involve medicine or food for Iraqis. FRANCE + Koffi Annan know all about it, as they took the payoffs to stop the UN from ENFORCING it's own resolution!
I say WMD or No WMD saddam needed to be trailed for his genocide crimes but,its just hypocrite to not trail George Bush for the same thing.Remeber 9-11...More people have shown me proof that bush Admin is responsibe than some guy in a cave with AOL who we paid and trained and is still doin big business with his family.
Isn't this video PRE-Operation Iraqi Freedom? The video is titled: WMD: Iraq Hospitals (Before the US invasion). Does anyone know a date for this video and why the reporters are there?
no we want the world to have the same kind of freedoms and oppurtunities we have, would you like to live in fear of being blown up or shot everday like the iraqis? i doubt it
but man who told you that we want to live like you in u.s there is racism and crimes and u treat women like sex object...sorry friend but we dont want to live like this keep your way to live for you
America doesnt want to destroy the whole world most americans I know want the world to stop crying to us. Someone is hungry America help there is killing America help. How about you countries start feeding your people and stop letting insane communist and dictators from taking over and we wouldnt have to clean the mess when they want to nuke everyone.
you do realize of course that the USA is the only country that has ever "nuked" anyone...
and you also do realize of course that helping people is the basis in which the USA was founded...
so what's your problem? too many taxes? of course you're right. So how about we stop spending hundreds of billions of dollars on useless and futile wars, which only benefit the oil companies, halliburton, and other huge multinational corps...?
Please give us a history lesson as to why USA is the only country that has ever "nuked" anyone..and why it has never been used again being you brought it up. Was it that no one did anything and one day we just felt like nuking someone? Did we make them for the sole purpose of wiping a country off the map? Like Iran wants to do to Isreal?
WE the USA are the one who invaded iraq... to give them freedom? really? You believe that? Is it worth it to you? hundreds of billions of dollars, 3000 dead troops? Hmmmm... didn't know you loved iraqi's so much did ya?
WE the USA, didn't help their situation as far as getting shot or blown up did we... nor did we help them with freedom... now they can't even walk the streets safe.
but sorry america want to destroy the whole world i want
america to let us with our dictators we dont need your help to get rid of them.. do you how many people had killed in iraq (innocent). just tell me why people blow themself there its only because they are american troops there . and i dont want america to help us just let us alone we live in peace . we dont want our contries to be the second iraq. you have a life there and we have life here.
we (the usa) have enough problems here, we should concentrate on our own problems, crime, poverty, homeless, lack of medical care, schools falling apart, government invasion of our privacy, the systematic undermining of our contsitution, etc... We don't need to look for more trouble all over the world
My question is where are the videos of the hospitals the Americans are building in Iraq, and the courage of the Iraqi doctocs to man the hospitals despite getting death threats from the coward mujahadeen??? All you're seing in the news is the bad (I would know, I was there in the U.S. Army).
There not blowing themselves up cause America is there. The man invaded another country, killed kurds and broke the UN agreement that alone should of been good enough but guess what the USA (you say want to destroy world) we were still just talking to the man after all that. Saddam
It's always a green light to wipe all the enemies out or else there will be another attack to Iraq by US and its allies. We have learned our lessons once!
The USA set a precidence in Iraq... that is that it's okay to invade another country without cause. ANd the UN allowed it. Partly because they don't have the military to stop the USA.
Now, any other country in the world can use the same excuses (basically anything they can think of) to invade any country that they want... because the USA did it...
Although, i think the US actions in Iraq proved that it's not as easy as it looks.
HE could have avoided war by fully declaring what happened to his WMD as was required by UN Resolution 1441.Saddam recklessly invaded Kuwait in 1991, he signed a CONDITIONAL surrender. The war would end when HE allowed "Full and Unfettered Access"(sound familiar?). Since 1991 he didn't ever cooperate. We attacked them every day since & now finally ended Saddam's rule. When u grow up you will understand what the UN did by making empty threats, and why we had to finish what the UN started in 1991.
Keep in mind, so many soldiers joined because of 9/11...NOT because they new in advance about the impending Iraq occupation. I think that if they knew that was coming they wouldn't have been so quick to join. They don't get to choose where they serve.
Mostly they said they didn't mind going to Iraq. Because it was their duty, they signed the contract, and that the rest of their unit was going and they wouldn't have wanted to stay behind anyway.
Yes, that is true...that is why my cousing enlisted...for the education opportunities. What I was referring to are the ones who joined to defeat the terrorists...most didn't assume they were Iraq...they just joined to take care of business wherever it came from. Iraq wasn't the reason. It probably wasn't even a thought in their minds. If they joined for the "wake up call" I assume they thought al Qaeda or terrorists...not Iraq.
I think you're probably right... at the time of 9/11 the enemy was decared to be al Qaeda and Osama... I would think that people who signed up to protect their country thought they would be protecting us against the terrorist... with honorable intentions.
p.s. Of the Marines i interviewed... with the exception of one,(not the one previously mentioned) they all seemed to be good people. People with whom i wouldn't mind being friends.
I don't have all the answers, I just think we need new military heads...we need to catch as many terrorists as possible and we need to protect Iraqi's till they get their own gov. worked out and a strong military. If we leave it like it is...we'll leave them to fail.
I see you are from Iraq. Do you believe the US presence is a good thing overall or bad. As a US citizen, I would really like to know what you think and how you feel, even if you called me and idiot.
They are probably waiting for the Americans to leave. They've seen war before, they have a long history, much longer than our measly 240 years. They've seen invaders come and go....
When we leave, then they can begin to get some sort of government together and rebuild their country.
I think Bush believed the WMD's BUT I think he saw an opportunity to take care of some personal revenge for his father. I am glad Saddam is gone, but wish he was gone years ago when we were there in 91. I think he is truly bad and his sons were worse. But I physically hurt for the loss of innocent lives and the damage that was done. I wish it was done differently.
I don't believe for a moment that before the Iraq war that Americans would have been willing to spend $350,000,000,000 of their tax dollars, and 2800 US troops dead, not to mention thousands maimeed for life... zll to "liberate" the Iraqi's.
I don't believe that most Americans loved the Iraqi's so much, or even could locate Iraq on the map.
The US government wants you to be weak and dependent on them. It makes it easier to get your oil. Not just obtain oil, that's easy, just buy it. But also in control of it, so you can't shut it off. The military depends on oil. Without oil most war machines would be dead.
I also don't believe that Bush or anyone else in the high up US administration believed they had WMD.
The UN inspectors said they did not. The US inspectors said they did not.
And logic says they did not. In 1991 we attacked Iraq and destroyed most of their military, then sanctions for 12 years after that where they weren't even allowed to import pencils because of the lead inside.
How could they have WMD? How could they be a threat to anyone? It didn't make sense then and it still doesn't.
First I want to ask, the americans are pretending to help Iraqis to free them from Saddam's dictatorship. But actually what is the real America's intention behind all of this?
The citizens hope for freedom for Iraqi's...I can't say that is what the government is truly there for. I want the automobile companies to make cars less reliant on oil...if oil had less value I think there would be less fighting and less misconceptions and less cover ups. US people are angry that it has been so long and distructive. We want your people safe and happy. US people are not US government unfortunately...
I think a LOT of Americans would become "insurgents"...
I know i would!
I would like to think that they would not fight their fellow Americans, but under similar conditions as currently in Iraq,... they might. i wouldn't be surprised.
I hope Iraqi's remember who the real enemy is, as i would hope the Americans would remember as well.
That's why I hope we can become less reliant on oil. But the Oil Co's put too much pressure on the auto makers...I think we could have run on other fuels many years ago if they hadn't had so much pressure. The people need to speak up about it more.
Politics seems to pull out the worst in people or the WORST people. GREED is usually at the center of their thoughts. US people aren't generally greedy...we all have bad people in every country. We just want to live our lives, feed our children, see them grow, be free of illness, have families of their own...just like you. PEOPLE want the same things around the world...EXTREMISTS and GOVERNMENTS are the ones who WANT everything to be THEIR way.
I was born an American and you were born not as lucky in not as safe of a place. I do wish you peace. I REALLY DO. I hate the wars of the world. I hate the suffering.
By the way...it's when we are closed minded that we get ourselves in the most trouble. That is the problem with most of our politicians today...they only see one side. That and the fact that most of them take money under the table to take care of the agenda's of lobbyists. Heck...half the time...they take money in plain sight if they think they'll get away with it. How's that for naive?
cont...Peacenow...you are naive, but I never said you were stupid...I hope you will continue your interest in the way the world is today...I hope you will try to figure out ways to solve the worlds problems...BUT, I just hope that you will keep an open mind instead of assuming...like you did at the top of this page...that everything is the fault of the current pres. It isn't that simple.
I have tons of ideas...but they won't all fit in this blasted box! :) First of all, we need new blood...not repeating politicians moving from one office to the next. We need real people who don't care about fame and fortune. Politics bring out the worst people. We need to stop all these perks for polititians too. Do you get to vote your own raise?
Exactly...no perks...then honest people would be more likely to win instead of those that spend millions on a campaign only to earn 6 figures. That doesn't make sense to spend more than your going to make...except hmmm...they make it up from the lobbyists and perks...see its shit!
You can tell extremists that you believe in peace and when you are finished they will still want to cut off your head unless you turn to Islam...that is not ALL muslims...only the extremists. You cannot reason with unreasonable people...you have to fight fire with fire...unfortunately it is messy. But my hopes are to make it a better place as soon as possible.
Sometimes when you are young...too young to see how the real world works...its easy to say things like that. Do you think preaching PEACE is really going to make a difference? Do you know how long people have been preaching PEACE before you? It would be WONDERFUL if that really worked...but its not working now. Believe me...you and I want the same thing...no war. I would like to wish away all the worlds problems, but that would be sitting back and hoping.
More misinformation.
Realistic estimations of Saddam's murders are around 600,000-800,000
Excess deaths caused the coalition invasion are around 120,000-135,000
These deaths are caused by INSURGENT ACTIVITY and SECTARIAN VIOLENCE. NOT COALITION FORCES.
These are also the two things the United States is trying to eliminate.
The reason that these hospitals lack the proper medicine and equipment is because Saddam was spending aid money on palaces and his military.

@usindependent50 I am an Iraqi and your information is false. No Iraqi likes the occupiers of there country. You are a sick supporter of the devil.

Your no more Iraqi than me.

Treckorz 3 months ago
@Treckorz
Because I know who real Iraqis are and what they stand for. Or at least the ones with some sense of moral values. And I was correct. You can barely call yourself an Iraqi. I'm fighting with and for Iraq. I spent 30 months in Iraq with the United States military. And I have visited it 7 other times in my free time, after the liberation.
usindependent50 3 months ago
@usindependent50 Moral values? please stop talking as if you know me personaly, im probably the most moral person you will know. I know that there are many americans who have good intentions but its sad to see they dont know the real intentions of the whole purpose of the war in the first place. Liberation.. what liberation?? Thaat is nonsence! Thank you for pumping over 100 tons of bullets that each contain 30mm of uranium through all the gulf wars, how can you be on the side of such disgust
Treckorz 3 months ago
dont forget that the americans have killed more iraqis in the war than saddam ever did, and he ruled for 30 years and the americans have been there for less than 10 years

The only way to stop this bloodshed is to stop the cycle of revenge and bloodlust.
johan28 1 year ago
Everything they say is just words. They say this was all for the better. But all that comes out is blood and sadness and soldiers on the street.
I do not believe their lies. I am not a terrorists. I am a citizen of the world. I believe we have caused more harm by attempting to remove the saddam regime. We're like a surgeon that went to remove a lesion off the stomach but ended up tearing away several organs in the process. We're in denail. We do not spread goodness.
We spread war.

Did you know WMDs have been found in Iraq?
* 1.77 metric tons of enriched uranium
* 1,500 gallons of chemical weapons agents
* 17 chemical warheads containing cyclosarin (nerve agent five times more deadly than sarin gas)(5/06)
* Over 1,000 radioactive materials in powdered form meant for dispersal over populated areas
* Roadside bombs loaded with mustard and "conventional" sarin gas,
assembled in binary chemical projectiles for maximum potency

Halliburton is probably doing great in Frankfurt, too. The U.S. consulate has vanished from the westend into the U.S. military base. Triple steelfences have been erected there and pillars around the living areas - to no effect at all in a sleepy city were german and foreign jew-, muslim- and christian-stemming people are mostly busy with parkett-flooring. It's really terrifying to see the once most energetic gouvernment of the west declining from enlighenment into paranoia
Arfurt 4 years ago
Your less imperialistic ancestors used to call it "freedom", now you name it "cowardance" (well, whatever...), little stormtrooper. Hey, come over to Frankfurt, it's not like sweden, but I can still show you how socialism works for the people here and war did not. Try a look from above on google maps - about every house here is new or has been rebuilt. Maybe you'll get just an idea why most people here think of 9/11 as a crime, not a reason for an aimless war making 3000 dead bodies 300000.
Arfurt 4 years ago
Thinton, I am assuming you know that Darfur is IN SUDAN! The name was changed so they could not include the 2.5 to 3 million genocidal deaths during the Clinton years. Would be kinda like you complaining about the California War in Iraq. ???? Yah, George Clooney is an F'ing genius.

In George Soros back yard to dig up for Hillary's campaign? GREASEPIG, If there are NO RESOURCES to distribute and the system suppresses the creation of resources, the system is a POOR SYSTEM no matter how well meaning. Socialism has been tried and does not work. I fails to take in to account the need for incentive...almost immediate gratifation humans need to produce...and the tendency of many to slack off an rely on the work of others.
armourup 4 years ago
As has been stated before, socialistic arrangements are not forms of gouvernment, but forms of distribution of resources. For example U.S. police or french railways or german "Arbeitslosengeld". When it's about social security and services for all, this works quite well, doesn't it? Britain just resocializes its railwaysystem after bad experiences and I'm sure you wouldn't like Your police-office to be after profit like your lawyers. When I read about U.S. lawcases, it often gives me the creeps.
Arfurt 4 years ago
artfart, Socialism does not work. You think you can redefine something and change its realilty. There needs to be something to distribute for the distributing sysem. Socialism CREATES oafs and sloths....and worst despots. Capitalism creates greedy bastards...but at least there is something to DISTRIBUTE.
armourup 4 years ago
There's of course always flaws in the system - like the shortsight of a parlament and many more. But there's some states in europe, where democracy with socialist institutions/insurances etc. works quite well. It's a good feeling walking through an unknown city from north to south without fear, because people are at least not too desperate. Of course, one has still to be awake, or the system will get corruptet by any group.
Arfurt 4 years ago
Second, the government claimed Iraq had WMDs. They were never found in any significant capacity. Saddam consistently denied any Iraqi possession of WMDs, nuclear or otherwise. Bush, NOT Hussein, ordered the United Nations weapons inspectors out of Iraq in the days before the invasion. North Korea has CLAIMED possession of and TESTED nuclear weapons. But we went ahead and invaded the country denying possession rather than the one admitting it. I guess honesty scores some points with Bush.
thinton 4 years ago
If you want to impeach Bush, I'm with you...for the right reasons. He delayed the invasion of Iraq to ALLOW the WMD's out of theatre...BEFORE the invasion we read about all of the materials going to Syria...Why? Because Germany, France, and Russia were prividing the materials!...Bush didn't WANT to find them...France gets oil for $12/barrel from Iran....What do you think Iran gets in return??
armourup 4 years ago
The way I see it, we Americans were presented with two main reasons for this invasion. The first being Saddam's "genocide." If what the description of this video says is true, there have already been approximately 33.3% more deaths in Darfur than in Saddam's Iraq. Why do we care more about fewer people who died years ago than more people who are dying now?
thinton 4 years ago
thinton, Why do you care more about the "Darfur" genocide but don't care about the "Sudan" genocide of 1995 to 2001...2.5 milion by the way.

Arfurt 4 years ago
democratic socialism is a possible concept...
as opposed to, democratic republic capitalism as in the USA...
Socalism and capitalism is a means of distributing the resources of a nation.
Democracy and monarchy, or dictatorship are forms of government.
Power to the people, and care for the people, at the same time. This would be a nice concept. It is possible. Is it realistic??? who knows.

"Duh! Reagan took Saddam off the list of alleged sponsors of terrorism in 1984, then sold him...America keeps paying for conservative fuck-ups."

He was as bad as Bush.
grisflyt 4 years ago
Gris, I will spell it out, since you lack the insite to "get it". Russia was our ally....things change. Roosevelt KNEW the Russians would likely would become a problem...Taking the Russians as allies was NOT a mistake...it was pragmatism. Complaining about what the U.S. backing of Saddam or the Mujadeen is more or less ignorant. Bush has issues...impeachable grade issues...but you don't seem to finding them.

(can you feel the sarcasm?)
greaserig 4 years ago
granitepeace, I think what happened is that you finally got the numbers right and now you simply cannot accept that your government, and YOUR tax dollars contributed to killing a million children under the age of 5 (according to UNICEF). i read your profile and what you said about people harming children. Why does the US government not have to answer to YOU!!! it should... blindness is not patriotism, do something about it... for example, Stop paying your taxes!
greaserig 4 years ago
If you want the truth you need to dig deeper there were at least 20 different countries that helped fund the Iraq WMD program. None of the chemicals use on the Kurds were from the USA, but you might want to look into Germany, Singapore and India. We all have blood on our hands find out the facts..
Jamsie567 4 years ago
true dat... i know a woman from Iraq, self exiled for 23 years after being in Saddam's torture chambers twice. She said the equipment used inside was made in the USA and in Germany.
I think all governments have pretty much the same agenda... and , at least, none that i know of, are "for the people by the people".
greaserig 4 years ago
Jamsie... also i didn't even mention the Kurds or the gas..
It was the sanctions that killed millions, which were led by the USA and supported by enough the UN security council... whom in my opinion should all be tried for crimes against humanity and buried next to their good friend Saddam.
greaserig 4 years ago
Between 60,000 and 150,000 Iraqi dissidents and Shia Muslims are estimated to have been killed during Hussein's reign. Over 100,000 Kurds were killed or "disappeared". (Mass graves discovered following the US occupation of Iraq in 2003 suggest that the total combined figure for Kurds, Shias and dissidents killed could be as high as 300,000).
granitepeace 4 years ago
300,000 is a lot of people. Exactly the same number i found when i looked. Thank you for the confirmation..
Now look up how many were killed by sanctions. In 12 years (half as long as Saddam was in power)it was around 2 million (that's over 6-1/2 Saddam's).
For this, I think both Bush's, Baker, Clinton, Albright, Powell, Rice, Rumsfeld, Cheney, Kofi, and the entire UN security council should be tried for crimes against humanity. They could be buried right next to their good buddy Saddam.
greaserig 4 years ago
Grease, Would you put BJ Clinton on trial? He bombed Serbs into the stonage so he could give Kosovo to Albania and give/pipe Caspian oil to the Germans. THIS is why Putin is so pissed. Bush is supporting this also. Clinton turned a blind eye as 2.5 to 3 million Black Sudanese were genocidally killed 1995 to 2001. That is 4 times the number killed in Rwanda over a 10 to 20 times longer period.

This video shows what Saddam did to his own people by refusing to comply with U.N. Resolution 1441 (that the whole "world government" voted on). He didn't. Instead he used the "Oil for Food" money for weapons and his own interests, which didn't involve medicine or food for Iraqis. FRANCE + Koffi Annan know all about it, as they took the payoffs to stop the UN from ENFORCING it's own resolution!
jmurphy914 5 years ago
1441 was for Saddam, "a final opportunity to comply with its disarmament obligations"..
in June 2006 the US administration reported "Iraq unilaterally destroyed its undeclared chemical weapons stockpile in 1991"
therefore Saddam had complied with 1441... But the sanctions continued.
I think we agree on the UN. Koffi and the entire UN security council should be tried for crimes against humanity.
They could be buried right next to their good buddy Saddam.

There not blowing themselves up cause America is there. The man invaded another country, killed kurds and broke the UN agreement that alone should of been good enough but guess what the USA (you say want to destroy world) we were still just talking to the man after all that. Saddam
is the only one to blame.

America has condemned us to become their enemy since the first place they attack on us!
P3NT4G0N 5 years ago
It's always a green light to wipe all the enemies out or else there will be another attack to Iraq by US and its allies. We have learned our lessons once!
P3NT4G0N 5 years ago

When u grow up you will understand what the UN did by making empty threats, and why we had to finish what the UN started in 1991.
jmurphy914 5 years ago
America is the one who started the war so let it be that way until one is prevail!

Keep in mind, so many soldiers joined because of 9/11...NOT because they new in advance about the impending Iraq occupation. I think that if they knew that was coming they wouldn't have been so quick to join. They don't get to choose where they serve.
jwade26 5 years ago
I don't know the exact stats... but i've interviewed about 20 Marines... all but one said they joined for education opportunities.
Only one said he joined because, in his words: "9/11 was a wake up call"
greaserig 5 years ago
Mostly they said they didn't mind going to Iraq. Because it was their duty, they signed the contract, and that the rest of their unit was going and they wouldn't have wanted to stay behind anyway.
greaserig 5 years ago
Yes, that is true...that is why my cousing enlisted...for the education opportunities. What I was referring to are the ones who joined to defeat the terrorists...most didn't assume they were Iraq...they just joined to take care of business wherever it came from. Iraq wasn't the reason. It probably wasn't even a thought in their minds. If they joined for the "wake up call" I assume they thought al Qaeda or terrorists...not Iraq.
jwade26 5 years ago
I think you're probably right... at the time of 9/11 the enemy was decared to be al Qaeda and Osama... I would think that people who signed up to protect their country thought they would be protecting us against the terrorist... with honorable intentions.
p.s. Of the Marines i interviewed... with the exception of one,(not the one previously mentioned) they all seemed to be good people. People with whom i wouldn't mind being friends.

who tells you US didnt attack themselves? Gov had much to win out of this...
ariskar 5 years ago
The question i would like to ask is, now that we have invaded Iraq, and the situation is.... as it is...
What do we do now?
PeaceNow23 5 years ago
I don't have all the answers, I just think we need new military heads...we need to catch as many terrorists as possible and we need to protect Iraqi's till they get their own gov. worked out and a strong military. If we leave it like it is...we'll leave them to fail.
jwade26 5 years ago
Protect them, you mean like a peacekeeping force? That'd be cool too...
how come the politicians don't mention these kinds of ideas?
PeaceNow23 5 years ago
Because they are dumbass polititians...they can't think...with their thumbs up their ass, it puts too much pressure on their brains.
jwade26 5 years ago
What they do in Iraq is waiting for something, idiot!
j3h0v4h 5 years ago
Sorry...don't get what you mean? Waiting for what?
jwade26 5 years ago
I see you are from Iraq. Do you believe the US presence is a good thing overall or bad. As a US citizen, I would really like to know what you think and how you feel, even if you called me and idiot.
jwade26 5 years ago
They are probably waiting for the Americans to leave. They've seen war before, they have a long history, much longer than our measly 240 years. They've seen invaders come and go....
When we leave, then they can begin to get some sort of government together and rebuild their country.
greaserig 5 years ago
Ah, so americans are really know nothing about what is happening in Iraq and I'm truly sorry to be rude to say something like that.
j3h0v4h 5 years ago
I think Bush believed the WMD's BUT I think he saw an opportunity to take care of some personal revenge for his father. I am glad Saddam is gone, but wish he was gone years ago when we were there in 91. I think he is truly bad and his sons were worse. But I physically hurt for the loss of innocent lives and the damage that was done. I wish it was done differently.
jwade26 5 years ago
I don't believe for a moment that before the Iraq war that Americans would have been willing to spend $350,000,000,000 of their tax dollars, and 2800 US troops dead, not to mention thousands maimeed for life... zll to "liberate" the Iraqi's.
I don't believe that most Americans loved the Iraqi's so much, or even could locate Iraq on the map.
greaserig 5 years ago
We are losers now, but justice will prevail someday!
j3h0v4h 5 years ago
I don't think you are loosers yet... you have proven yourselves to be stronger than the American military. That's an accomplishment.
Please don't fall into civil war, you will just be playing into the USA hand.. It's what the USA government wants... (as you already know)
greaserig 5 years ago
I just don't get it, what is it that US Government want from us? What will they get from us for being into a civil war?
j3h0v4h 5 years ago
The US government wants you to be weak and dependent on them. It makes it easier to get your oil. Not just obtain oil, that's easy, just buy it. But also in control of it, so you can't shut it off. The military depends on oil. Without oil most war machines would be dead.
Oil is power.
greaserig 5 years ago
Civil war:
If you are killing each other it makes it easier for the military. They don't have to do it, and they don't get the blame for it.
Civil war makes you weak. The US wants the entire region weak. That was why USA benefit from the Iraq/Iran war.
greaserig 5 years ago
I also don't believe that Bush or anyone else in the high up US administration believed they had WMD.
The UN inspectors said they did not. The US inspectors said they did not.
And logic says they did not. In 1991 we attacked Iraq and destroyed most of their military, then sanctions for 12 years after that where they weren't even allowed to import pencils because of the lead inside.
How could they have WMD? How could they be a threat to anyone? It didn't make sense then and it still doesn't.
greaserig 5 years ago
It's not rude, it's the truth, at least for many Americans.
PeaceNow23 5 years ago
First I want to ask, the americans are pretending to help Iraqis to free them from Saddam's dictatorship. But actually what is the real America's intention behind all of this?
j3h0v4h 5 years ago
The citizens hope for freedom for Iraqi's...I can't say that is what the government is truly there for. I want the automobile companies to make cars less reliant on oil...if oil had less value I think there would be less fighting and less misconceptions and less cover ups. US people are angry that it has been so long and distructive. We want your people safe and happy. US people are not US government unfortunately...
jwade26 5 years ago
Your government has destroyed our beautiful land, what would you do if you were one of us?
j3h0v4h 5 years ago
I think a LOT of Americans would become "insurgents"...
I know i would!
I would like to think that they would not fight their fellow Americans, but under similar conditions as currently in Iraq,... they might. i wouldn't be surprised.
I hope Iraqi's remember who the real enemy is, as i would hope the Americans would remember as well.
Please Iraq's, stop fighting with each other.
greaserig 5 years ago
In the world we live in today, it has become a CURSE to live in an oil rich counry...
greaserig 5 years ago
That's why I hope we can become less reliant on oil. But the Oil Co's put too much pressure on the auto makers...I think we could have run on other fuels many years ago if they hadn't had so much pressure. The people need to speak up about it more.
jwade26 5 years ago
true dat!!!
and there are MANY options... (ps: hydrogen isn't one of them. It's a energy carrier not an energy source)
greaserig 5 years ago
You tell me, what if Iraq invaded US for Iraqis benefit is that a good thing for US citizens?
j3h0v4h 5 years ago
Politics seems to pull out the worst in people or the WORST people. GREED is usually at the center of their thoughts. US people aren't generally greedy...we all have bad people in every country. We just want to live our lives, feed our children, see them grow, be free of illness, have families of their own...just like you. PEOPLE want the same things around the world...EXTREMISTS and GOVERNMENTS are the ones who WANT everything to be THEIR way.
jwade26 5 years ago
Lucky for you to live under America's government not Iraq's.
j3h0v4h 5 years ago
I was born an American and you were born not as lucky in not as safe of a place. I do wish you peace. I REALLY DO. I hate the wars of the world. I hate the suffering.
jwade26 5 years ago
By the way...it's when we are closed minded that we get ourselves in the most trouble. That is the problem with most of our politicians today...they only see one side. That and the fact that most of them take money under the table to take care of the agenda's of lobbyists. Heck...half the time...they take money in plain sight if they think they'll get away with it. How's that for naive?
jwade26 5 years ago
They do get away with it don't they?
PeaceNow23 5 years ago
They get away with way too much stuff. There should be a government to govern the government! AAHHH!!!
jwade26 5 years ago
cont...Peacenow...you are naive, but I never said you were stupid...I hope you will continue your interest in the way the world is today...I hope you will try to figure out ways to solve the worlds problems...BUT, I just hope that you will keep an open mind instead of assuming...like you did at the top of this page...that everything is the fault of the current pres. It isn't that simple.
jwade26 5 years ago
ok, so impeaching Bush wouldn't help.. probably not.
Do you have any suggestions? The question remains.
PeaceNow23 5 years ago
I have tons of ideas...but they won't all fit in this blasted box! :) First of all, we need new blood...not repeating politicians moving from one office to the next. We need real people who don't care about fame and fortune. Politics bring out the worst people. We need to stop all these perks for polititians too. Do you get to vote your own raise?
jwade26 5 years ago
That would be cool.. if we could find such people who were willing to run for office. Then get elected, and not become corrupt afterwards.
Stopping the perks would be cool too, then the greedy people have less motivation to run in the first place.
Do you think the answer lies with the Politicians or with the People?
PeaceNow23 5 years ago
Exactly...no perks...then honest people would be more likely to win instead of those that spend millions on a campaign only to earn 6 figures. That doesn't make sense to spend more than your going to make...except hmmm...they make it up from the lobbyists and perks...see its shit!
jwade26 5 years ago
You can tell extremists that you believe in peace and when you are finished they will still want to cut off your head unless you turn to Islam...that is not ALL muslims...only the extremists. You cannot reason with unreasonable people...you have to fight fire with fire...unfortunately it is messy. But my hopes are to make it a better place as soon as possible.
jwade26 5 years ago
This is not a forest fire. It's a war... and more fighting simply results in more dead bodies, and more suffering.
Yeah, war is "messy"? I think thats a serious understatement.
Your hopes??? I don't think hope is a good solution. You can sit back and hope, while the world burns down around you.
PeaceNow23 5 years ago
Sometimes when you are young...too young to see how the real world works...its easy to say things like that. Do you think preaching PEACE is really going to make a difference? Do you know how long people have been preaching PEACE before you? It would be WONDERFUL if that really worked...but its not working now. Believe me...you and I want the same thing...no war. I would like to wish away all the worlds problems, but that would be sitting back and hoping.
jwade26 5 years ago
Actually i wasn't preaching anything... i was asking a question.
The answer i got from you, an adult, is basically:
I'm too young to understand. I should stop trying and just hope things work out okay....
Ok... maybe i'll go watch some tv...
Thank you for your input, i will consider it.
PeaceNow23 5 years ago
and you call ME naive??? wow...
