A person does not need religion, hatred or any kind of phobia in order to acknowledge important, qualitative differences between heterosexual attraction / behavior / marriage / adoption and homosexual attraction / behavior / marriage / adoption.
Homosexual activists, with (complete) support from the media, have succeeded at framing themselves as noble victims and martyrs; it's an effective way to push a social agenda.

You need to realize that the things you're saying are seriously, seriously messed up. @steelvenom2003 There is no one close to me. How can I hurt anyone if I have no contact with men or women? I have no friends. My parents are dead and I wasn't close to anyone else in my family. If all of that is true, then you need therapy even more than I thought because it's starting to sound like you're clinically depressed, and that cannot end well untreated. AFGHANISTAN --Over 20 Afghan Christians have been detained in Afghanistan after high-level leaders called for the arrest and execution of converts to Christianity in the Islamic nation, an advocacy group said Friday, June 25.
Britain-based Christian Solidarity Worldwide said the Christians were detained since last week and added that non-Christians with ties to Westerners have also been targeted for interrogation.

Hysterically funny, poignant, and homespun, totally relatable... even 40 years after MY graduation. I love this lady! Who listens to a speaker at a graduation? I almost passed this up, but how can you pass uip a chance to hear Meryl Streep's creativity. Glad I stayed a while, listened, laughed, puzzled and pondered, and laughed some more.

She's such an excellent speaker. I read her words a little bit in advance on the subtitles and think of the most effective way to say whatever she's going to say, then she says it in a better way. Meryl Streep is great! :)

It's no surprise that most of the people with negative comments are males who either barely listened to enough of the speech to make any judgement, or listened with their bias and bigoted opinions already in their minds. It's 2010: Actors sometimes know more than scientists...while some politicians that speak at other schools know nothing at all. Stop basing the words on the person (though she projected them just fine) and try to be intelligent enough to understand the actual message.

it's up to all of us to take what we can from this... she gave the speech at one location but it is here for all of us to learn from... if this had taken place 10yrs ago not one of us would be able to see or hear the advice she offers but the fact that we live in the age.. yet that we are the first to live in an age where we are fortified the opportunity to witness this profound speach is a gift to all of us.. in short count your blessings, be grateful and have empathy..

Great speach, I find it truely amazing the amount of people who watch a 28 minute long video of a commencement speach so that they can complain!
