Not at all, he played a fantastic Snape - by far the most interesting character in the movies - anytime he's on camera all eyes are on him. The series itself is difficult to hate - the production did an excellent job of bringing the books to life, and if your concern is with the plot - you remember your critiqueing a summary of a childrens novel right? For better or worse Harry Potter is probably one of the only things that will survive our generation in a few hundred years.

The title was changed to Sorcerer's Stone for the U.S edition, because the U.S publishers thought that a child would not want to read a book with the word "philosopher" in the title.
