hmmm. Maybe it's dirty from outside but i don't think it is. Try cleaning it from the outside. If this doesn't work, go to an Apple store.

@petros4225 I took it back to the Apple store this morning after the spot was getting darker and darker. They took one look at it and replaced it with a brand new phone. Thankfully they still had some stock left.
