@Traveldoctor00 From the intro which sounded like a Harp, played throughout the song... the distinct sound of every instrument that was used, blending with the harmonies of their voices,-- created magic for me! I grew up listening to beautiful music fr. Mario Lanza, to the Beatles up to the present -- but my all time fave song remains Girl Blue by the Main Ing. Stevie W. co-wrote it and sang it too. @Odawg96 You said it sooo beautifully!!! I get so sick of these people polluting the boards saying oh I like the other version better...blah blah blah..just be quiet and appreciate the music!!!!
@Odawg96 well I am from old school and old school artists had a way of taking an original song and make it their own..remember what Luther Vandross did for the Carpenters Superstar or Dionne Warwick A house is not home..Folks Ony remember His covers.
@Odawg96 Yea, your right. I was b71, & even though this is kinda a little b4 my time, I sill like this style of music. I don't really listen to much newer "music". Basically Classical, Jazz, & oldies (50-s -early 80's) Anyway, in the 60's & 70's it wasn't uncommon for multiple bands, of different genres, to be performing & recording the same songs simultaneously. 1 example, CCR & Ike & Tina Turner - "Proud Mary". You don't see that today. You don't have different bands doing "Poker Face".
@gjc82071 Believe me, I'm with ya all the way. How about The Doors and Jose Feliciano's version of "Light My Fire"? or Glenn Campbells re-tooling of Allen Toussaint's "Southern Nights"? or Vanilla Fudge's version of the Supremes' "You Keep Me Hanging On"?or Isaac Hayes and ANYTHING written by Hal David and Burt Bacharach? Yep, those were great musical times. Between a crappy music industry and crappy artists, musical imagination appears to be a thing of the past.
@gjc82071 lol at poker face. now that made me almost fall out my chair laughing. yea these youngsters think soulja boy is the best artist of all time really? I wouldn't usae his cd for a coaster for my beer!!!!
@mormana Honestly, I've never even heard of soulja boy. Your right about not using a CD as a beer coaster, but for another less obvious reason. I wouldn't even want it in such close proximity to my beverages. It could taint the flavor & after all, I gotta actually drink'em ya know? Actually, shitty CD's do have a purpose, & in a sense can be "recycled"! They kinda make a decent, neat, shiny, "Frisbee" (having roughly the same aerodynamic properties & all). So, not a total waste. {:o)
@gjc82071 trust me you aint missing nothing. I like the frisbee idea. I wouldnt waste the money on it tho. I will stick with the original frisbee!!! LMAO
@Odawg96 Definitely agree with you. Far too many youngsters these days that don't understand what real music is like. Real music is so good that many different artists can put their own spin on it, and it's not "copying". Of course, what can you expect? This generation is listening to Justin Bieber and Keisha, they can't possibly understand.

R.Kelly's ummer Bunnies & Will Smith's Summer Time... During the 1st week of July..along with the summer tune frim Porgy & Bess...Lady Day also did a memorable tune relating 2 Summer Time...
See the curtains hanging in the window In the evening on a Friday night A little light shining through the window Lets me know everything's alright {Summer breeze makes me feel fine Blowing through the jasmine in my mind} (x2) See the paper laying on the sidewalk Little music from the house next door So I walk on up to the door step Through the screen and across the floor {Summer...}

They are all great within the context of each
artist..
We use 2 mix the Isley Bros. version with
R.Kelly's ummer Bunnies & Will Smith's Summer Time... During the 1st week of July..along with the summer tune frim Porgy & Bess...Lady Day also did a memorable tune relating 2 Summer Time...
We were big on music for particuliar themes..

Sweet days of summer, the jasmine's in bloom
July is dressed up and playing her tune
When I come home from a hard day's work
And you're waiting there, not a care in the world
I See the smile a-waiting in the kitchen
Food cooking and the plates for two
Feel the arms reach out to hold me
In the evening when the day is through
sorry.. I couldn't paste link here...
