Not every Shoegaze band sounds like MBV, genius... Slowdive sure as SHIT doesn't!
"Shoegaze" (or any other genre designation) doesn't mean "exactly the same every time"... It would suck if EVERY band just tried to be a MBV clone, don't you think?
dude so if this isnt shoegaze what is it smart ass? you have two other people trying to explain to you its shoegaze as well there genre on every website is labeled as shoe gaze smarty
@TheScott127 wow ok kid you need to grow up seriously. i see you removed your first comment cause you realized how stupid you are. you are the one who said this isnt shoegaze and your calling me a retard fuck off bro and this conversation is over a month old and it took you that long to think of something to say back? just end it child
@TheScott127 and ive noticed you listen to mgmt you commented on one of there videos calling it brilliant. you have no knowledge of music if you listen to the get a life looser
this was off their second album, which stirred slightly away from the shoegaze sound. this is actually a brilliant track, but check out whirlpool and all their early eps if you want to hear them as "shoegaze". they were really the ones who started the scene, mbv were just a major influence on the scene like the mary chain and cocteau twins were @TheScott127
The drummer is really talented. Love his work on Whirlpool. I think he might surpass the drummer of MBV. Then again, two disticcnt sounds cause i think MBV is more punk influenced (at least prior to loveless) and chapterhouse took an already refinedd sound and refined it some more.
While I love the grunge genre I still resent it because of how it kind of pushed Shoegaze to the side and slowed its growth and mainstream exposure. It's like I mention grunge and everyone knows what I'm talking about, but I mention Shoegaze and 99/100 times I get the puzzled head tilt look.
What a great song. Chapterhouse is an amazing band that never really got popular. If the grunge movement wouldn't have pushed them aside, these shoegaze bands would probobaly get very popular.

With Kitchens of Distinction I consider them best of "shoegaze"!

Probably my favorite song of theirs. The emotions are so well articulated by the chords, it's shiver-inducing.

One of my favorite songs by one of the most underated shoegaze bands!

Loved this group & album! Sad they didn't make more music than their two albums & 'hits' album.
augusts1 3 years ago
They have a 2-CD rarities and outtakes album called "Rownderbout", but the last copy I saw went for $400.
pyenapple 3 years ago
Well that was the cd I was talking about when I said 'hits'. I have it if you'd like it.
augusts1 3 years ago
Oh, really?! Because there *was* a "best of" thing, I think...I recall seeing it somewhere. :)

Haha I had a burned copy deep in my cd collection
