In the Pacific NW, what is the best area to live in for access to drag strips, motocross tracks, and great off-roading areas (that are OK with the police) for anything from 4wd's to 3 wheelers to bikes????
At this point, I'm thinking I'll likely wind up either somewhere near Portland, or up near the Puget Sound. Near a big metro area for work, and the other perks that come with a city. But out as far from the center as I can manage for rural benefits too.
Portland is going to be close to a lot of ride sites, including Washougal. There is a lot of riding in Tillamook Forest, some over by mount hood, plus further away there are other places. Lots of places to go riding legally here, check out my videos I have some trails on video.
Just watched again. Man, I can't wait to get up to the beautiful Pacific NW. Sick of living in the desert. That Maico looks like it needs a little competition! Pretty sure if I can build a bike and get up there, I'd likely do well. Last time I raced in like 89 or 90 I got the holeshot, and only came in 3rd due to fatigue. Didn't ride much anymore at that point. Only brought the bike due to peer pressure. Remember sponsers asking who I rode for. My head was on girls & muscle cars at the time.
Cool clip, real glad I spotted it. I'm actually planning to move up to the NW, and I'm also inching towards getting back into riding motocross. After years of having been out of riding. I also had been thinking of not getting a newer bike, but rather build one for VMX. This makes me want to actually race, and not just ride. Either building a 79' or 80' CR, but with a 480 engine. Or, I might build a 79' or 80' RM, but with a 500 engine swapped in.
Ya, was pretty cool. You should get your YZ together and take it down! Most of what I got was the Amatures and some Intermediate. I don't think I got any of the expert class. That guy on the #21 Maico won Open Amature.
Do it, man! I started riding when I was eight, and I regret not starting a lot sooner. What are you even doing wasting your time reading this, you should be looking for a 50cc Suzuki or something!
looking good.
