  • Australia was/is a backwater and they were/are so racist.

  • Thanks so much for this film ! I was looking on Youtube to see if there ere any documents about this period at Kings Cross which is a place where Jay didn't seem to go much. I lived there with the bohemians (hippies, etc) in the 60's ; the place where you could meet "everyone" was the Village Centre. Photos on a web site (Bâtisseurs d'Utopies"). Nostalgia too, for, as Jay says, everyone was congenial and there was always something intelligent going on !Hi ! Jay ! I don't think I met you then !

  • @enspectateur Hi there. Thanks so much for watching and for the info. I would have loved to have been in Kings Cross back then :)

  • One thinks Miss. Jay is being asked too many questions 6:26, 7:23 & 7:50 & 9:53 All of the things Miss. Jay says were good in the old days were also good in the old days in every other Anglo-American country too. . Even Steptoe and Son is a nice life to have missed. The Castro, before the gays moved in. Cheers. from, del-boy P.S. Big boo boo, Uncle William, got it completly wrong 14:50 (not listening.)
  • @YesYouKnowYourStuff Lol glad you enjoyed it :)

  • Is that Germaine Greer? she has got awfully slight.

Must be the Queensland rainforest workout.

She shouldn't bad-mouth Seidler; he was a worker.

    Cheers.

    from,

    del-boy.

  • @MoilAndToil I think there are a lot of things that could be said about Seidler :)

  • nice video

  • Thanks so much :)

  • hey um can you kensington tell your friends and people about my vid cuz i need help

  • @kensington25

yeah, i wish she was my grandma ! :3

  • Mine too :)

  • Luv this 60s cool

  • Hehe :) How are you Char?

  • I am fine

  • Always great to hear :)

  • I have a strained relationship with Germaine Greer too.

  • Lol don't we all :)

  • What a wonderful monologue. I contrast this woman with my grandmother and regret how repressed and religious she is. Jay is my ideal grandma!

  • Though slightly saddened to hear an original "beatnik" longing for more repressed times.

  • I did find that strange I have to admit :)

  • Jay is awesome isn't she :)

  • She is a amazing woman, Very prim and proper

  • Lol very true. I do love her. She has a certain innocence.

  • Very interesting and sweet woman. Enjoyed your chat with her.

  • Thank you so much for watching :)

  • is that a real person or is that fletcher?

  • Doh!

  • What a lovely charming lady. I think I agree with about 85% of what she says. Harry Siedler did destroy the soul of Sydney, including the famous Marble Bar which was world famous, which was under the current Hilton, and so many beautiful buildings. They saved the Queen Victoria Building as Harry Siedler wanted it to be a high rise car park. Imagine how ugly that would have been! I think it was "Cahill" who decommissioned the trams. They named the Freeway after him. +++

  • Yes, even since I first came to Sydney in 1995 the sky line has changed. A very fast changing city and when I look at some of Harry Seidler's legacy I despair. She certainly is a charming and lovely lady :)

  • WHAT! I never knew that. A high rise car park? Sheesh.

  • People's firsthand recollections of other times and places are always interesting to me... Thanks for posting this!

  • Same here. They always fascinate me :)

  • I can't Imagine Sydney with trams or Melbourne without them.

  • Neither can I hehe :)

  • Great interview, watch it all.

  • Thanks so much Greg. You are a star :)

  • Wow seeing as i'm only 18 it's quite amazing to get a point of view from an era between 20-30 years before I was born, great stuff mate.

  • I love hearing peoples histories. Thanks so much :)

  • San fransisco!

    awesome :)

  • Awesome city :)

  • Thanks Moomay. I love San Francisco. I bet you must have so many good stories and anecdotes :)

  • AWSUM interview!

    swingin' 60's.

    Mooz
