  • this movie is woven into my childhood love these movies! I had no idea that the satos student was called chosen, and i always used to think the nutcase in karate kid 3 was steven seagal when i was kid i don't know why..

  • charlie sheen was asked to be daneil in this franchise

  • @dorourke105: I'm with you, and I'm 13.

  • Dated?!! Hey,Hey 80's music is never dated to me

  • Man John G. Avildsen sure likes to do the "rooting for the underdog" movies.

  • I grabed i beer and i enjoy it so much(3 beers)

  • LOL, wanks off!!!

  • "TNNK is a shit load of fuck" That's how the Nerd would've said it.

  • There is a moment I really like when Miyagi is trying to have a talk with Saito and he asks him "What happened to you?" and Saito remains silent.

  • Honk.

  • 8:51 hit the lights nigga!

  • James there's a fourth movie. You should-NO I CAN'T ITS SO BAD!!!!!!!!!

  • "Karate Kid" is one of my favorite movies.

  • Haha I own and still ride the same dirt bike (Honda) that Johnny Lawrence rides from the first KK, and I love my almost 30 year old bike !!!

  • They made a 4th one starring hilary SKANK

  • Hey everyone Maxcorn is accusing me of being racist! How am I being racist

  • huh, I never knew they made a fourth Karate Kid with Mr. Miyagi. Kinda tempted to find it since I thought he was a cool character/ The newest one with Jackie Chan should've been called "The Kung-Fu Kid" since they say Kung-Fu instead of Karate in the movie.

  • @Golan7 Here in America, Jackie Chan version is still called, "Karate Kid". When they released the movie in Asian countries, they renamed it "Kung Fu Kid" to be more politically correct. My family just calls Jackie's version "Karate Kid" for the sake of time and it has basically the same story as Macchio's.

  • @kurokujira4913 @Golan7

I think,we all know the Western copies of the Jackie version are called "Karate Kid". But, like Golan was saying it shouldn't be called that. "Kung-Fu Kid" isn't more politically correct, it's factually correct. Karate isn't from China. So, why would Jackie teach it? If they wanted it to be "Karate Kid" they should have set it in Japan. If they were so determined to have it set in China they should have changed the name to match the country's martial arts!

  • @kurokujira4913 @Golan7

As a side note, the movie isn't called "Karate Kid" or "Kung-Fu Kid" in Japan; they call it "Best Kid" (but they also refer to the original trilogy as "Best Kid" too). I guess the Japanese felt the movies weren't worthy of representing one of their martial arts.

  • Because of this movie, my teachers made a lot of Daniel-son jokes at me. One teacher even told me to wax on or wax off (talk or shut up, cause I would answer all the questions in class), and also to be strong with something.

  • REVIEW THE KARATE KID WITH JADEN SMITH!!!!

  • LMFAO!!! "Why didn't he kill him??" That's some funny shit. I never noticed that.

  • How the hell did Daniel turn into such a pussy in part 3 and forget almost everything when it comes to Karate just months after he whooped Chosen's ass in part 2? Chosen was Sato's best student and even taught American Military personale.

  • @EastCoastDude99 I agree but the story in 3 is way better than 2!

  • Anyone notice Johnny had a black eye in the dojo the next day after Mr. Miagi whooped them the night before when they were in the skeleton uniforms? Yet he was never punched in the eye. Just a kick to the balls and a chop to the gut.

  • KK1: A classic.

    KK2: Decent sequel.

KK3: Not as good as the first two, but enjoyable.

KK4: ...I can use the words of Roger Ebert's opinion on "North" to describe it...

    Remake: Pretty good!

  • I didn't get the newest Karate kid cuz it was a nigga in china! I didn't lik the gurl one cuz, who wants to see a gurl replace Daniel?

  • @Crushinmueroporti

    yeah, classy comment there, asshole.

  • 5:15 made me LOL! "Why didnt he kill him?"

  • yea not if you count the remake staring will smiths son and Jacki chan

  • Comment removed

  • @WhiteMagicEnygma Cool story, bro. Can somebody else have a chance to comment now, or do you need to write another fucking novel?

  • I mean think about it Pat was NO Jacky Chan MEANING he did not know martial arts beFORE the movie (not that I know of if I'm wrong any1 feel FREE to correct me in detail, I'd be glad to hear it!) But that means he rocks even more than I originally thought!! I mean in REAL life he could have beat bin Laden's tail, you know a guy around his age and comparable to him!! Mr. Myagi is a super hero!! I mean think to 3 Ninjas(~!~) You guys know how Grandpa was so OBVIOUSLY replaced by a stung man? Sad!

  • U know looking back it was QUITE impressive how Pat did his own 'stunts' in the Karate Kid movies, I mean as far as I can see he did in ALL of them, you can pan in and pause it ect and its pretty clear that its him unless they did an EXCELLENT job of replacing him with a stunt guy that just happen to be his IDENTICAL TWIN! Nah it was DEFINATELY him, especially in the original. I mean think about it(!!) he prolly didnt' know karate b4 the film. None of the other actors ddi!! He's not Jacky Chan!

  • ACtually the Next Karate Kid is no where near as bad as the disses its gotten since its original theatrical release. If you can get passed the title and the over the top cheap feminist way they replaced Daniel (and a male hero period! I actually remember the trailers and seein Julie's 'boyfriend' type guy or whatever like in that seen where hes tellin Myagi not to let her fight, I actually - from the trailer - THOUGHT that was DANIEL grown up!) Its a LOT better than part 1 remix I meant part 3!!

  • honk

  • Review the newest one with Jackie chan and Jaden Smith!

  • @GooGooGamer OK I will lol. But seriously. Its believable a LOT more believable than the original! Personally I think its better but thats MAINLY b/c the original is SO dated and so insemenated by the 80s that its hard to watch today. I think the argument can successfully be made that lil Jaden is a much better (or @least more impassioned) actor than Ralph - tho in Ralph's DEFENSE Jaden at his age has more experience and was BORN into a talanted acting FAMILY, its in his genes. What say U?

  • Watching this makes me realize how long it's been since I've heard anyone make a Karate Kid reference

  • So, Danielle cheats on his girlfriend?

  • I know right. I think Allie from the original was HOT. I just wish she had had straight hair and not that 80's 'big hair band' curly afro lol. Picture this scene my friend, her in a skimpy 2piece baby blue and white bikini layin on a beach with white Malibu sand on her beautiful milk-nourished beautifully lightly tanned California blonde skin, her blue eyes catching the after noon sunlight reflectively and wavy STRAIGHT sunlight blonde hair tumbling down her shoulders, a sexy smirk on her face

  • One of the things i always loved about this movie was the Father-Son like dynamic.

  • What I never got is how Daniel wasn't able to beat the generic badguy from the third movie from the start. He was recently home from a trip to the birthplace of karate where he fought and defeated a top student from a top master. It always bothered me that he was so defenseless against "Karate's badboy"...

  • @Baktor

Yeah, me too! I think they tried to make the Mike Barnes character like a sort of Ivan Drago. He appeared to be much stronger than Daniel and he was only defeated when Daniel used a tricky technique

  • Another great movie to fall at the hands of LJN

  • Fun fact: John Kreese was supposed to be... Chuck Norris! He turned down the role.

  • @xJoeEDangerouslyx Woah really? If Chuck became John Kreese, that would kill Chuck's good guy image.

  • @kgp8 I disagree. I think a bad guy role at that stage in his career may have given him some credibility that he doesn't have now. Is Chuck Norris a good actor? Well, I don't know. He's never really been given the chance to show us.

But it would have been interesting.

  • @xJoeEDangerouslyx idk, a cold lookin face and a low tone voice wouldn't work for a character like John Kreese. The actor playing Kreese is very good. U actually believe that he's a douchebag.

  • @kgp8 Besides, don't fuck with the Chuck!

  • The new one is terrible but has great fight scenes

  • @30seconds2slipknot its not terrible its a great movie

  • I really liked the 3rd

  • @DemwOriginal i know me 2 why so much hating on it

  • @DemwOriginal Is there some irony that James hates some movies that has III on it. He hates Karate Kid III and TMNT III, which is another movie that's not bad. Oh well, I guess it's his opinion and fans like me are glued to them.

  • James you should really review the Karate Kid remake starring Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan that came out last year

  • Michelangelo did wax on wax off wrong.

  • It's just the same as the new one.....

  • Put'em in a body bag!

  • John Kreese and his cohorts in their black karate uniforms (dōgi) strongly resemble the Koenkan from the Virtua Fighter anime series.

  • the 3rd one was just horrible the first one was great the second one was ok but the 3rd was offel

  • I liked the second one the best, but everyone has their own opinion. I didn't think Part 3 was a load of crap, but that it was alright. Don't bother with "The Next Karate Kid," it will make you wish you never saw it. Just watch Nostalgia Critic's review of it just to see how heinously anus it is.

  • @TheMarylandDude Remember the next-gen one?

  • @mamilolu You mean the remake? Yeah I saw that one. Complete verbatim of the original film, no new idea trying whatsoever! That's why it falls victim to horrible remakes, which all remakes are BTW.

  • @TheMarylandDude That's not fair. The Wizard of Oz was a remake. Dracula was a remake. The Maltese Falcon was a remake. Scarface was a remake. The Magnificent Seven A Fistful of Dollars, Casino Royale, (Not the David Niven comedy. There was a straight adaptation which was the first time Bond appeared on film.) The Departed, The Fugitive, The Untouchables, 3:10 to Yuma, Ocean's 11, and the DeNiro version of Cape Fear were all remakes and all legitimately good movies.

  • @xJoeEDangerouslyx That I had no idea on. I was familiar that the Pacino version of "Scarface" was a remake, and it's one of my all time favorite films. However, if I were to change my comment, I would say that all remakes "nowadays" seem to suck. Such as the Peter Jackson's King Kong, the 1998 Godzilla, Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Alice in Wonderland, and Free Willy and Escape to Pirate's Cove didn't hold a candle to the original, but failed miserably.

  • 2:00

"Ralph Macchio was very believable in the role"

you're telling me, he was 23 fucking years old!!

  • 3:41 SAAB 99

  • jennifer from BTTF2+3 8-)

  • Mr. Miyagi lost a daughter... Not a son.

  • Comment removed

  • *is washing a random person's car* Wax on. Wax off. Wax on. Wax off. Wax o- Wait... The fuck was I saying that for? o-o

  • " Jacket On " Jacket Off " What the fuck you doing I meant with your Penis

  • They knew they had nothing to add to Daniel's story, people wanted to see Miyagi train someone again.

I think Chosen tourmented Daniel because he wanted to follow his uncles footsteps, he saw how he treated Miysgi so, yeah...

  • I find the Karate Kid 3 and the Next Karate Kid are the best of the four.

  • @falconvideos01 Can i ask why

  • @thelashers Not to bash Ralph Macchio or anything, but The Next Karate Kid had something new for once. I mean that because I was a little tired of seeing Ralph for three movies in a row that were all about him. The Karate Kid 3 just seemed to have a really good story line and a couple of funny scenes. Plus I thought the action scenes were good.

  • @falconvideos01 fair enough, but to me, like james, the third one is just the first one with more over the top villians, and plus the fourth one didnt make any sense as to why the villians were villians

  • When Mr.Miyagi Honks that guys nose i almost piss myself everytime.

  • When I fart, juice comes out

  • The Evil Sensie SUCKS BALL AND SHIT

  • The less we know about The Next Karate Kid, the better.

  • @CRIMSONK4OS That's true : kung fu and bloody Smith's sonny-boy !

  • did anyone noticed that the other student has a jacet just like scorpion's

  • or mabey it is rocky and the filmers stole the time machine from back to the futer!

  • is that mark hamil

  • @JodyJody90 No it's just one movie that Will Smith forced them to put his kid in.

  • I just realized, the Karate Kid with Jayden Smith and Jackie Chan is just the whole trilogy combined into one movie.

  • @JodyJody90 Given that Karate Kid 1 and 3 are virtually the same, ya.

  • KK3 was the shittiest endings ive ever seen in a movie no joke

  • Terry Silver always reminded me of Robert in Art of Fighting on the Neo-Geo.

  • lmao ive been to oki and it kinda sorta alittle bit looks like that :p

  • honk ^__^

  • They cut off the "balls kick" at the apartment fence.

  • @tvtimetravel I KNOW! when I first saw that i lost a little respect for Miagi, laughed a bit...but then i saw the rest of the movie and gained the respect back

  • Also Daniel and Rocky kinda look simialer.

  • i can't believe you failed to mention that the song "You're The Best" was originally planned for Rocky III

  • "Wax on, wax off... Wax on--".

    "Mouth off!".

  • 9:00

  • @tthomaselli2 ooooooo!!!

  • 'You're The Best, Around' played at a party I was at, just recently & I gave crane kicks to everybody who tried to start shit with me.

  • 3:15.; Agreed.: :)

  • I just put 30 people are in a body-bag.

  • yay.my name is daniel!im not lying...

  • In Karate Kid 1 Daniel was fighting for respect

In Karate Kid 2 Daniel was fighting for his life

In Karate Kid 3 Daniel was fighting... well just because. Not to mention they turned Daniel into an annoying arrogant prick in the third one

The third film should have come in the middle. Also I thought the new Karate Kid with Jaden Smith was actually pretty good

  • @natedoggcata I agree but I like the 3rd Karate Kid I like the remake but I like them in this order

    1 The Karate Kid 1984

    2 The Karate Kid Part 2 1986

    3 The Karate Kid Part 3 1989

4 The Karate Kid remake 2010

5 The Next Karate Kid 1994

Mr Miyagi is way better then Jackie Chan in my opinion and Daniel was more of a wuss in the third Karate Kid

  • Sax on. Sax off. Jax on. Jax of- uh.. I better stop now.

  • Mike Barns kinda reminds me of the main villan in Rocky four, can't think of his name, he is the big white dude. The fact that Mike Barns was Daniels toughest oponent and the dude in Rocky 4 was Rocky's toughest oponent. Anyway, the Karate Kid trilogy will live on in our hearts... :D

  • The most important thing you can learn from these movies is: You never piss Mr. Miyagi off.

  • Me personally my favorite of the Karate Kid movies (Not including the remake) is; Karate Kid II, with Karate Kid a close second.

  • I actually thought III was better than II.

I also thought the next karate kid was pretty decent, but not as good as the first three.

  • The next karate kid sucked balls and I love the first 3 nice review

  • @koltinsrocks while you do have the rights to you're own opinion, (and i'm not trying to start a stupid Youtube fight) I think The Next Karate kid was actually pretty good. People were mad because Daniel wasn't in it, but many people have said it themselves, when Karate Kid part 3 came out, it was like they ran out of ideas. I think the makers of the karate kid movies thought fans would like to see Miyagi train a new student. :)

  • The next karate kid was a better remake than the new one

  • we hate new one and how justin beiber is in it

  • Not only does it share the same director as "Rocky," it was "Rocky 3," that nearly got "Your the Best" as a training montage rather than "Eye of the Tiger"

  • Not only does it share the same director as "Rocky," it was "Rocky," that nearly got "Your the Best" as a training montage rather than "Eye of the Tiger"

  • hey james. did you know that they originally planned on toshiro mifune (a favorite of kurosawa's movies, though i'm sure you know that!) to be mr miyagi in this movie, but they turned on the idea because he would have made it too dark? fuck, a part of me wishes they used him </3

  • I didn't know THE KARATE KID HAD A FUCKING SEQUEL!

  • Friggin classic movie series! =]

  • Daniel's nickname throughout the series should have been "timex"... cuz he takes a licking & keeps on ticking! XD To be fair, tho, he WAS kind of a mouthy lil' punk in the first movie.

  • 9:00

  • Anyone notice Johnny had a black eye at the Cobra Kai Dojo the next day after Miyagi whooped them the night before when they were wearing the skeleton costumes? Miyagi never even hit him in the face. Another Rocky / Karate Kid link is Bill Conti who does the music for both movies like Fight Night in Karate kid and just about all the Rocky music. I also remember when KK3 came out, people were claiming Terry Silver was Steven Siegal, lol.

  • the second one is my fav

  • Miyagi is the best of all

  • can u chop a tree mr miyagi '' i dont know never been attacked by tree

  • I liked part 3

The Next Karate Kid is an abomination

  • @RNC200711

'The Karate Kid: 2010' is an even bigger abomination.

  • Great review!

  • 30 people prefer 'The Karate Kid: 2010'.

  • As far as AVGN's line of 'The Karate Kid' basically being a re-telling of 'Rocky' with the same director, there's another thing I think he left out:

'The Karate Kid' & 'Rocky' also had Bill Conti doing the original score, respectively.; Coincidence???

  • wish the train would had hit them and sparred us-classic

  • 05:04 HONK! LOL!!!!

  • The one with jaden smith technicly doesnt count since it doesnt mention any of the characters. Its more of a remake.

  • I'd like to know on what James thinks of the recent Karate Kid movie that stars Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan. Thumbs up if you agree.

  • @MrWaterwatcher i think he doesent want to because its not often he doess remakes, and plus it was allready covered by the nostalgia critic.

  • @NoMorePopMusic True. But you never know.

  • @MrWaterwatcher imo i hated it...with a passion cant beat the original

  • @slipknot9476 I respect that because everyone has their own oppinion on it.

  • @MrWaterwatcher whats yours?

  • @slipknot9476 I liked it. I actually think it's better than the first. Mainly because of that Jackie Chan is in it, and he's my favorite actor, and I like the fact that the kids are younger.

  • @MrWaterwatcher i think it has to become a classic for him to throw his two cents, well that s my opinion ,but it would have been cool if he mention it in this segment oh well.

  • @sumaran72 I don't think it was out yet when he did this.

  • Here is how I rate them from favorite to least

    Karate Kid part 2

    Karate Kid

    The Next Karate Kid

    Karate Kid part 3

  • @AshXXMayftw

You seriously put 'The Karate Kid 2' over the original 'The Karate Kid'???... Really???...

  • @tthomaselli2 Yes because in my opinion it was better. First off the stakes were higher in the fights, second I really could see that Daniel and Myagi was becoming more like father and son, and the characters had more character development

  • I believe part 2 shouldve been made as part 3 because he fought Chozen to the death.

  • GETTIM A BODY BAG YAAAA

  • @Furymuh holy shit, did you have to reply with 3 huge paragraphs?

  • The Karate Kid will be awsome films for ever becuase it shows a age freindship, triumph and its awsome.

  • Any kid who has ever been bullied has to like these movies, it shows that with hard work you can overcome anything.

  • shouldn't of just skipped the 'next karate kid' sequel, it's pretty good, way better than the jackie chan movie anyway

  • The new one (the one with the little black kid) was ok but wasn't anything like the original first one.

  • @TheKentuckyCATz U mean Jaden Smith? Ya, i have to agree that it's not really the same as this one

  • Is James affiliated with Spike?

  • @wolf0805 he freelances for cinemassacre which is an affiliate of spike

  • i hated the karate kid. he won by default. he gets his ass kicked for most of the tourney and gets in ONE lucky shot.

in the remake, the billy zbaka wannabe was even more vicious and jaden win. hell no.

  • @reh629 Just shows that with determination and belief can overcome anything :D

  • the next karate kid is pretty good

  • Love these movies.

  • i love the first karate kid, one of my favorite movies from the 80's

  • Although i've only seen the first one,The Next Karate Kid is an obvious attempt to promote female power and not come off as being sexist rather then an attempt to make a good movie
