Awesome band the best ever-no one has ever come close!

  • Loved how the 70s Punk bands did these homages to the classic 60s bands that influenced them.

  • @ebailey140 Did you know that Mick Jones and Paul Simon plays with Gorillaz on their live-conserts? Their next one will be in 2012 :D

  • Who remebers hearing this on The Weather Channel about 6 years ago? I sure do!! Awesome song btw!!! \m/

  • I F**K'n love the Clash. I have always loved punk, but the Clash had more of a twinge to their stuff. You could hear alot of raggae, Soul, Latin,Rockabilly and other forms of music in their stuff after "Givem enough Rope". "London Calling" I think was the beginning to more expression of their influences. I like Booker T and the MGs version too.

  • @MatthewMarkBritton Love this! some obvious singles but hey i love them all!

    1.clampdown

    2.hammersmith palais

    3.washington bullets

    4.straight to hell

    5.guns of brixton.

yeahhh and 30 more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! greatest rock band ever!! represnted us all!

  • has anyone else noticed that the guitar "riff" is very similar to that on Anarchy in the U.K. ,then at about 1:56 we have what sounds very like the guitar intro to Pretty Vacant. I haven't listened to Booker T's original yet but regardless of who is nicking off who The Clash are definately contenders for best band in the world title. As well as being one of most inspirational voices of their generation

  • @MatthewMarkBritton I cant reduce my favortte Clash songs to 5. It would have to be at least 15: Clash City Rockers Hammersmith All the Young Punks Stay Free White Riot Death or Glory Police and Thieves I Fought the Law Complete Control Armagideon Time Career Opportunities Garageland Tommy Gun London Calling Hateful Rudy Cant Fail Spanish Bombs Clampdown Guns of Brixton Train in Vain Police on My Back Midnight Log Washington Bullets One More Time Ghetto Defendant ok, that's 25
  • @MatthewMarkBritton The last two aren't where written by other people.

  • May I recommend the book 'A Concise Guide To Eighties' Music' by Karl Vorderman. The author is particularly fond of this instrumental.

    4. Washington Bullets

    5. Lost in the Supermarket

    4.Rudie can't fail

    5.Straight to hell

  • I heard this version in the Weather Channel.

  • you are correct, it immediately caught my attention. I have this LP, and this is my favourite song on it.

  • Maybe "Anarchy in the UK" sounds a bit like this tune...

  • I cant beleive the clash done this classic ABSOLUTELY BRILL!!!

  • A great tribute to four great Memphis musicians by four great London musicians! OK bambinos, rock esta noche!!!!

  • I like both Booke T. & the MG's and this, The Clash's version. However, I must admit the obvious: this one's a lot more rockin'.

    Excellent cover.

  • Didn't know the Clash had recorded this, not a Clash fan at all, but hey, this is a good version, not as good as the original but I like it

  • I like this version but the original is way better. Jammin!

  • this song makes me wanna learn how to play the saxophone

  • 1. know your rights

    2. should i stay or should i go

    3. london calling

  • My Top 5

  • @MatthewMarkBritton the 5 best clash songs in no particular order are

    safe european home

    stay free

    somebody got murdered

    guns of brixton

    white man in hammersmith palais

  • @meatisburger none were covers like "police and thieves" or "i fought the law"

  • 1.) Guns of Brixton

    2.) Bankrobber

    3.) London Calling

    4.) Police and Thieves

5.) One more Time w/ Mikey Dread

  • 1. Straight to Hell

    2. (White Man) In Hammersmith Palis

    3. London Calling

    4. Rock the Casbah

    5. Lost in the Supermarket

  • the clash ruined this song...dont diss on booker t you punk fag bags

  • @Littlealex49th Eye cannot speak for the incredible Booker T, but I bet he loves the fact that the Clash paid him such a wonderful tribute, so grow up li'l Teabagger.

  • This is a great version of this song. Further it's good because it caused people to go back and hear the Booker T and the MGs version. One reason the Clash were great was because their music had roots. It wasn't derivative, sing songy, dreamy crap of some current bands.

  • I'm sorry, but London Calling, Rock The Casbah and Death Or Glory arent even in the top 20 Clash songs. Maybe they are for some who came to the Clash late, but they all have a way to go before they beat White Riot or What's My Name. You see, the Clash made a couple of records before London Calling. Also, their masterpiece is Sandinista, NOT, definitely NOT, London Calling.

  • oooh, gotta add "spanish bombs" to that line-up...!

  • i love the clash with a passion, saw them twice and very few bands play with such passion, however, all though it is not a bad cover...you can't beat booker t and the mg's...it is their song, mark, x

  • I heard a million years ago that this was thier dressing room warm-up song which they recorded it at some point - anybody confirm that?

  • @bostonirishpunk i cant be sure about that, but i suspect that it may be true when you listen to the nice plodding base line. it is a good warm up. have you listened to the original by "booker t and the mg's". i saw the clash twice..they were excellent

  • @markalotify Hey, ya, discovered that even before this clash released this. The "best band of all frigging time" and i only got to see them once - boston 79.

  • This is a brilliant instrumental. Favourite clash songs should include 'Stay Free', 'Clash City Rockers', 'The Right Profile', 'Know Your Rights', 'The Call Up'.

  • FRESHHH

  • 1. Death or Glory

    2. Tommy Gun

    3. Rock the Casbah

    4. The Card Cheat

    5. I Fought the Law

  • What a horrible version.

  • I had never heard this before.....this is freaking awesome!

  • I think this shows the true soul and roots Joe Strummer and the boys had. They were true to Rock And Roll and true to their on style of it as well. When asked about being a "punk" band He didn't deny it but he just said "we're a rock and roll band with a purpose,ya cunt"...Even though he even mixed in reggae beats he incorporated the 2 brilliantly...... I miss ya Joe ,Rest in peace, mate!

  • The supreme version: LOS PEKENIKES, EL TIEMPO VUELA, please, listen this song, thanks

  • 1. Whiteman in Hammersmith Palais

    2. Magnificent Seven

    3. London's Burning

    4. Death or Glory

    5. Safe Europeon Home

  • It's not bad actually. Better than I thought it would be. It's just not the same without an organ accompaniment though, and the guitar doesn't replace it very well I don't think. Some of the notes are off too.

  • how is bankrobber not on there?

  • its on mine XD

  • I like it .....It's not something I would listen to ...but i listen to allot of 80alterative music :) thanks ..it's alway's good to here to muic

  • nice, never heard it before that I can remember anyway..
