I loved the reading and it seems you read with passionate interest (it shows). I'm still in the middle (too many holiday distractions). I have browsed through Ellison's Essays and those are also outstanding. Thanks for posting, it's just an important (understated) American novel.
There may be red clay out your window but this town has many unseen beautiful spots. They are not spoke of because there are a lot of disrespectful people who will destroy or deface the site. We are proud but yet guarded. We love our home and our heritage.
OK! I watched you reaction to that video, and then I saw the video. Ew ew ew. I could only sit through the first 10 seconds. Ick! Having fun in Japan?
Maybe I should do a read as well. Invisible Man was a great novel, and the Rineheart section was one of my favorites.
Have you read Juneteenth?

I'm almost ashamed to say it, but I had never read "Invisible Man" by Ellison, until I picked it up and started reading it, this week.
I'd heard about it, mind you, (I'm fifty-one) but had not had it in my hands.
Thanks for letting me see that I am not alone in my appreciation for Ellisons' book.

Yeah, it was pretty sick. Japan's great, that's why I have a hard time taking time to make videos...well that and I've been sick for 2 weeks :P
