to fix rebot loops, you have to put the ipod into disk mode.
to put the ipod into disk mode, hold the 'menu' button and 'center' button for about 6 seconds, and then immediately let go and hold down the 'center' button and the 'play/pause' putton simultaneously.
i have a Ipod Nano 5G and i went on the radio and it turned off but the radio was still playing and it wouldent do any thing so i hooked up to i tunes and it tried to restore it but it didnt work now i wont evan read to itunes PLZ PLZ PLZ help i just got it today
What I've discovered is it's most likely an mp3 file name that's too long, like someone wrote lyrics into it or something.
My 5G 30gig video iPod kept doing the boot loop over and over so I synced it to a playlist with nothing in it and it works fine, so now I must go through my library ( of 1200 songs...) and figure which is causing the problem and rename the file.
Hope that helps, I've spent hours on the net looking for solutions this one seems promising.
i have a 5g video but had the same problem...after i hooked it up to my computer, though, the problem was solved, so i would suggest trying that if you haven't already
My ipod also got stuck in a reboot loop (all my own fault though; i was messing around using iPodWizard). What you have to do is put it into "Disk Mode" (there are tutorials around) and then install new firmware :) Don't freak out, it is easy enough to do.
google "ipod reboot loop" and you will discussion of this problem. It is likely a problem with the tags on your MP3s. If the tags are too long (gt 256 chars), or have nonstandard characters, then the ipod may enter this reboot/restart cycle that it cannot exit from. Restarting and reinstalling ipod software will not solve this problem.
Turn it off and when it starts to start up press and hold the middle button and the play button. That will boot it into Disk mode. Then plug it into your computer and go to iTunes and press the restore button. That should fix it.
I don't know, take it to Best Buy and see if they know what's wrong. Hopefully you bought an extended warranty so you can get a new one, if not, you might as well just go buy another. iPods are tricky. I'm one of the lucky ones who bought an iPod that hasn't malfunctioned. Good luck with yours, though =/

Nevermind, you're from France, I don't think you have Best Buy stores over there.
