I dont know if you have been in the military,

If gear, vichles, weapons or anything else you might get your hands on breaks, disappear. (not good if its a weapon) you will get it replaced. If you are retreating in large numbers, under fire and pressure theres a chance of loosing your weapon. This means that he could get it replaced because of the confusion. The munitorium will never be able to find out if it is true.
