  • I like this! U did a great job!

  • yeaaaah it's the song of Thumbelina

  • I love that you put Thumbelina and Ariel together. Both were voiced by Jodi Benson.

  • Beautiful work, you really captured the movement and emotion of the character, keep up the good work!

  • They should have put this in the movie!!!! OMG, SOOOOO GOOD!

  • WOW. This is AWESOME. And I love how you made the last shot, I've always loved that pose and would have loved to see it fit in the original film somwhere. :D

  • This would have been such a touching scene to add to the Little Mermaid film. What I love most is the ending when she goes into that iconic pose. So beautiful. You are gifted.

  • It's beautifull ! I try to do some animations like this but I have a big problem : I don't arrive to keep the "drawing" to the same place so my animations trumble...(I don't know if you understand me...)

  • Just wanted to say I love this video!! I have loved it for a long time it is really cool! Thank you for posting it!!

  • i really like this! even tho "soon" isn't from Little Mermaid, its from Thumbilina lol both of which were voiced by the incredible Jodi Benson! still, so beautiful!!

  • When i watched it the first time, i actually thought that this was a deleted scene from the movie :)

    Nice work!

  • Sir, you amaze me!

  • Absalutelyy amazing !!!

  • Thumbelina!

  • @52wbending52 and Ariel:)

  • the most profesional an clean work!! it's just perfect! BTW i love seeing animations without the final color, this is wonderful!

  • If I could favourite this a thousand times I would ♥

  • Out of all the the fan made up disney movie scenes I've seen before, this is actually one of the few that's pretty damn awesome!! Good stuff!

  • I still love this vid even thought I've seen it a billion times

  • Mark Henn would be proud.

  • very pretty :,)

  • WOW~! That was wonderful! Who would've thought to put a Thumbelina song in a Little Mermaid scene. Nice one! Absolutely nice! (^▼^) ~ ♫ ♪ ♥

  • Wow, this is amazing! I love it! I have a question though... I am also studying animation and am doing a similar assignment. I was just wondering if you got the rights to use a copyrighted song and how you went about doing this? Because my lecturer says that I need to get the rights for the song I want to use before I can use it, but I'm just not sure how to do this. Thank you for your help!

  • @Nirali208 Sorry, no, i don't have the rights for this song (that's what youtube is for...). For some of my movies I paid a composer to compose a special score for the animation, and that is why I have rights for those scores. You have many online websites who offer free music for use for non profit purposes (artists who are looking for exposure offer their work) and also you can contact the song writer and ask him.

  • Wow I am amazed! What I loved most about this was the way you tied in the movie poster at the end. Way to go!

  • I love that thumbelina movie this is awesome how you put that song with the little mermaid

  • How do I do this? What program do you use? If you can you tell me would be grateful!

  • @LOpes4646 Hand drawn on paper, scanned and edited in CTP (old software). Please read more in my article, link in movie info (I can't post links here).

  • Great

  • I Love Ariel

  • if you hand draw it how do you get it on the computer? can anyone tell me please!!

  • @IrishFig Please read the article i wrote (link on movie info, I can't post links here)

  • @lpdisney thanks!

  • HOLY CRAP THAT'S GOOD

  • WAUW.

    WAUW.

    no words.

  • That's amazing! =D

  • this is beautiful , ive always wanted to animate , but where i live in the uk there isnt any animation courses and it really sucks :/, ive kinda just wasted 3 years doing another art course because of this.

  • ugh! I can't stop watching this! Your animation is very well done! It's so professional!

  • @pietruffa Kind of, ya, I guess. I'm doing a bunch of stuff and some of them are animations.

  • Did you slow the song down or no?

  • @mariguingui no, I didn't. but I did cut some parts and re-edit the song so I could have a shorter version.

  • i LOOOOVE this to death <3 i had goosebumps xD

  • @selenitt No, sorry. This is it. And I won't be coloring it in the future. Thank you.

  • I can't stop watching this! It's super amazing!!! :3

  • I can't find words for this. It's so beautiful!<3

  • i love this<333 where did you learn to animate because i really want to:D

  • @lilmermaidLov3r I went to an art academy in Israel and studied animation for 4 years.

  • Soon, Ariel will find true love.

  • I know I've asked this before, but, could you color this for fun and see what it looks like and upload it. I want to see a complete version of it.

  • @performingfreak11 I'm sorry, but it's a very old artwork that I don't want to spend time on. If I had free time (which I don't currently) I would work on newer and better things. Sorry.

  • amazing!!!

  • i love this

its interesting to see how it works

  • Haha thumbelina does have the same voice actor as the little mermaid so it works out great.

  • @cutechong you do worse and just take the image mostly

  • This song is from Thumbelina. But it's great for this part. Ha ha.

  • thank you for posting your work! been reading your artical and it has really inspired me to do the same as i´ve always wanted to create my own drawing animation but i just didnt no where to start and how it was done. so thank you so much! i have also bought the books you recomended :) xx

  • the voice strikes me at thumbelina's voice. and the song is fromt hat movie, right?

  • @angelkouari Yep

  • Ah! i didn't know that you did this! XD i follow you on DA. how great this is. it works so well too since it's the same voice actress. I love this little song so much, it moves me. the animation is great too. I noticed some difficulties that you had with her face, keeping it the right size and fitting the words with the mouth properly, but that's nothing compaired to the rest of it! You've done so much other amazing animation work that i'm so fond of. you're a very talented animator. :)

  • 0:51 Aladdin!

  • I'm like speechless...that was awesome..it so fit with the little mermaid, conveniently enough that's jodi singing herself, gotta love jodi, great job on the animation!

  • I love this! Two of my favorite movies ever in one!

And the animation was beautiful. And very smooth. You also did very well with Ariel's mannerisms. :o

    Much love to this~ <3

  • Its amazing:)

  • This animation of yours is beautiful :)

Was it an FMP project? I also did animation for my final major project, I'm going to study Moving Image in september. I love the little Mermaid, always have for as long as I can remember. I thought the voices from Thumbelina and The Little Mermaid were similar, never made the connection though, haha. But I really enjoyed watching your final piece, it really is beautiful. I thought it was especially clever when you used the same voice from another film. :)

  • Oh wow! :D

  • Props in that Jodi Benson voiced both Ariel and Thumbelina. :D Wonderful animation. ^^

  • nice job, i give a clap! i love disney movies ;)

  • i read the article in the description and still dont know what animation program you used please tell me

  • @mew3335 CTP for line test (very old software, won't work on today's windows, you can use TVPaint), Photoshop for coloring, After effects for efffects and editing the scenes, and Premiere for final edit of all the scenes together.

Details about the process are in the article.

    I hope that helps.

  • @lpdisney wich one is for the clean animation how you did ariel singing "Sing your song,Sure and strong and..."

  • @mew3335 I didn't do any cleanup in this movie. My rough is very clean and sometimes after a scan looks like a cleanup. But in general I use photoshop for cleanup.

  • This is too beautiful!!!! You melded everything together so perfectly. I wish this really was in the movie. You have real talent! :)

  • Oh my VERY good you have my respect =)

  • so pretty! and great song!!

  • Gorgeous for a rough! I'd love to see a finished, clean version of this. (:

  • u drew this?!

  • good job ^_^

  • This is very, very good! Love the song too!

  • i absolutely love this more than any of your vids omg its awesome

  • what animator did you use

  • If that was colored, it would make a great alternate ending to TLM.

  • It's so beautiful ♥

  • Wow..... this is sooo sooo amazing. Bravo.

  • omgosh, your a great clever person for doing this, I mean people make amvs, but you brought this to a whole new level, really amazing, i hope you make movies one day

  • aaaaamazing ^^ ... just wondering, I'm a digital design student and I was wondering if I could color this.

  • @keniakittykat I'm sorry, no. I don't like other people touching my art. I hope you understand. But feel free to do fan art of my work :-)

  • @lpdisney I understand, that's why I asked first. =3

  • THIS IS INCREDIBLE!!!!! Oh this is soooo good! I'm going to MCAD art school this summer for a came, and I will learn to do this too, I can't wait! I probably will never be as good as you though! This is AWSOME!!!

  • wow your really good

  • wow this is great, you really made the song fit and the animation was really smooth in between the stills.

  • Wow you are amazing! Keep up the good work!

  • Comment removed

  • @sleepysnape Ah, there you go. Thumbelina did have a sort of Disney look, and she was played by Jodi Benson to top it off, but I did find it a little out of place that Rod Stewart composed the music. Haha.

  • @RandellScandal01 it was Barry Manilow actually.. duh

  • @RandellScandal01: That explains it lol. I was wondering if Jodi Benson played Thumbelina as well, thanks for verifying that for me! :)

  • if don't really look like her but still pretty good i wish i could make a video like that some one plz teach me

  • Oh, wow I thought Thumbelina was a Disney film; apparently it's WB. This is cute! I mean, I can draw Ariel a bit better, but I still give you kudos for making an animated short. That's alot of hard work and patience.

  • aww i would love to see the finished animation of this! great job!!! LOVE LADY ICE btw <3

  • i miss disneys cartoons...... i need to watch the princess and the frog lol.

  • Princess and the Frog was okay but Randy Newman isn't the greatest lyricist.

  • I realy like it

  • What program did you use?

  • Please read the article in the info.

  • you did absolutely excellent..... She looks exactly like ariel and the animation looked great. Honestly while I was watching this I thought it was a deleted song that was nearly finished. I read the summary after watching the video lolz.

  • This is really good and you are extremely talented. I love Disney and I think you did their work great justice. Having your work on the internet can hopefully open doors for you. Good job and wish you all the best! :)

  • Dang it!

  • Could you put the finished, colored version of this? I'd like to see it.

  • Sorry, there is no such version. This is it.

  • Ariel's also the voice of Thumbelina.

  • Absolutely beautiful. I would love to work for disney one day

  • Soooo excelllent! Really incredible!

  • this song sounds familiar....is it from...Thumbelina? Jodie Benson did the voice for her too

  • Yes it's from Thumeblina :)

  • @micMAXkey yes it is lolz that was mentioned in the summary

  • Its really amazing :D

  • Wow! Pretty good! You can see a few flaws when she turns her head, and the lips don't match perfectly with the voice. But still, really, really, good!

  • nevermind. watched it on a better internet connection. even better!

  • Hey how many years did you study there? I'd so want to great cartoons. I can draw and I have live madination + I love Disney to :)

  • 4 years. to read more see the article link in the info.

  • Thank you

  • Holy shit, is all I can say. I am speechless. Do you work for Disney?!

  • sadly no. I'm trying to though. this is just a fAnimation.

  • Then why aren't all disney films great then? This 'guy'(she's female actually) is better than disney I think and she should get a chance to work for them, then their films would be great again. But very controversial of you(!)

  • clearly you haven't seen any of his other animations, Cociss.

have you seen Lady Ice? stunning. incredible animation.

do a little research before you open that mouth.

  • @cociss:

you know, i wonder what you think isn't amateur. because i can tell you this: Disney is no better than this. except Disney makes millions off their shit.

i would call Disney amateurs. amateurs butcher stories to appeal to 10 year old kids. professionals make their own shit/take a story and make it appeal to kids without ruining it.

  • @cociss: Prejudice much... O.O

  • @LETHALMISTAKE her*

  • HOLY wowee wow. Loved this.

  • Some advices, if you want they...

Check the arcs and the joints behavior.

Chek out the beahavior of the masses. And some important >>>the spacing: the movements are slowing in o slowing out?

I hope that it could be a support for you...

And sorry for my bad english XD

  • Nice drawing!!!!

  • A very nice job of animation, even if rough! Hope you got an A.

  • how would he supposed to color it? .___.

and how did he do that?

i want to do that too!!! aaaah~~~

but what program and what tools i need huahahaha

  • a light table, pencil and paper.

if you want to know more read the info I wrote on my lady ice WIP video.

  • uoooooh thank you very much! =D

  • Wow. My goodness. This is great! The minute I saw Thumbelina, I imagined Ariel singing it. Funny that someone made an animation. Which is full of wonderful art work. Great work. I hope that someday you will make more.

  • Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • that must've taken alot of time, nice timing XD GREAT WORK. I could never get the in betweens & timing rt T.T

  • can you make it in colour! it was awsome!

  • Sorry, no. This is an old movie of mine and I've grown passed it.

  • my goodness.. u r really really good.. keep it up..

  • oh boy! what can i tell you? mmmmmm. you realy need more animation lessons!

  • i love it but the songs form thumbellina.....did jodi benson do her voice?

  • Absolutely wonderful. Great job, you really got the emotions rendered on her face, and that is HARD to do, I imagine.

  • Oh my gosh! Amazing job!!!!! Can I ask which software you used for the animation process?

  • can you please read the info I wrote on Lady Ice WIP. If you have other questions please send me.

  • Oh okay! I'm sorry

  • o.O reaaaaaly nice

  • Beautiful<3<3.

    5 stars:)

  • OH MY GOD!!!! This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever ever seen on youtube...beautiful!!! And it would be so so great if you could animated the rest that is in storyboard....

  • You're REALLY good! I love both the Little Mermaid AND Thumbelina.

  • this is awsome! i love it brilliant idea and i fully love thumbelina and for ages i didn't realise that ariel and thumbelina were done by jodi benson :)

  • Really beautiful, such a lovely idea and the part with Ariel looking up to the sky with Eric in the clouds was so heartwarming... Ariel's face looked a tad funny for a couple of seconds of it but what the heck does that matter, it was seriously a beautiful, fantastic job... I love your animations so much! so inspiring...

  • So do you plan to finish it? It looks so good, just as Lady Ice!

  • agreed!! i would love to see what this looks like finished!! It's so beautiful!

  • hi ? I am curious for how long did it take you to make this?

  • A couple of months, but I working on stuff for other classes at the time, so I can't really tell.

  • Nice work. Hope you make it big someday.

  • Great!!! I am looking at ways to enhance my animation portfolio, and this assignment is a great idea! Good luck, and keep it up!

  • Such beautiful work...this almost seem like a rough draft trailer for the movie.

  • that was EPIC!

  • hey, good job, a bit rough in the beginning with ariel's arm movements, but I LOVE her when she puts her arms behind her head to look at the sky, amazing.

  • Great job! :D

  • HOW THE HECK DID YOU DO THAT. that was amazing. But how did you get it to move !

  • It's a hand drawn animation, so it's a series of several different pictures, like a flip book.

  • incredible work! I think you 're really talented! and the choice of the caracter and the song was brilliant

(it happens to be my favourite cartoon song and my favourite caracter- I simply adore her ;) ) congratsulations!

  • Beautiful work. I absolutely loved it and could really see this scene in the movie. You are extremely talented.

  • That was AMAZING. Wonderful Job! You actually made me wish they had put that song into the actual movies. Don't worry I know what its from. Still though, you are very talented great job!

  • WOW... O_O... excellent job!!!

  • So Beautiful!

  • dat was cute

  • Cool! It should be in the movie :)!

  • Beautiful...and clever I may add. ^^

  • AMAZING :)

  • This is wonderful...but tell me..did you made it to your third year? I sure hope so...ur very talented :-)

  • That's what I wrote in the info...

  • VERY well done!! Impeccably recreated! What's the deal with the song?

  • is it alright if i take this cl
