The lead singer and Eddie Kendricks have similar sounds - so rhythmic - hard to sing that high, maintain the key, not go off pitch. My daughter thought it WAS Eddie Kendricks - had to school her.
hwaj5300 do you have ( me and my baby are like two love birds in a tree ) i don,t know the group is but this is how the song start pls if you know post it please thank you
I still have it from the sixties it was played in all the great soul clubs up and down the UK in the sixties FANTASTIC RECORD!!!! brings back some really cool memories
It wasn't a hit it was considered quite a rare record, soul clubs in the UK in the sixties played motown and the more obscure and rarer imports on home grown US small town labels although I wouldn't class 'I'm gonna miss you' as obscure or rare as such it was certainly not a mainstream record. And I was more than once offered three or four times as much as what I had oriuginally paid for it
When I first noticed it on another playlist, I had to hear it-immediate chills and memories of back in theday . Yes, I remember doing the "Temptation Walk" 2
This was one of the 'slow' dance records played at the end of the night when you hoped to walk the girl home, the other favourite being "Stay in my lonely arms" by the Elgins. Oh the memories!!
After all these years this song still makes my eyes water thinking about how great life and love were back then. Wow...... thanks for posting this hwaj5300. Nice to add the lyrics. Might be some of the best words written about love and life.............Michael
What Great Harmony and Lyrics and just great soul sound. This is ONE fantastic sound. It brings back such great memories.

There are a couple of re-recorded versions of this song on YouTube, but this one is the original and still the best.

Two and a half minutes of symphonic mastery.
Probably the greatest record ever recorded.
