Charlotte's Web - that's where I first heard Corky. I've been trying for sometime to rmember the name of the place! I wonder if it is still around? i was only 16 so they stamped an angel on my hand to make sure that I wasn't served any drinks.
Correct that...Corky was performing by himself that night in Rockford. I first heard the band, omg, 40 years ago, at the Shimer College gym in Mount Carro
Way back when I was about 17, (early '70s), I had the 'Say Siegal-Schall Blues' album.
My buddy & I wore out that fucking album...lol..the only white 17 year olds around then doing that. I remember blowing a joint & then listening to 'Slow Blues in A'. lol.....whew! ...we just loved Corky's harp playing!....and Jim's most excellent acoustic blues licks.... good to see they is still kicking around......
I first heard Corky in a club in Rockford, IL (I believe it was off State Street) in '75 or '76. I literally wore out a cassette tape I had of him. This was after the Siegel-Schwall days. The person who I went to the club with had been following them for years.
Some of his classics (that I still remember the words to) are: Idaho Potato Man, Midnight Radio, On the Rebound, Southwest Coast Blues, Since I Told You, Goodbye California, Just a Little Piece, Oh Emy Lou, & Half Asleep at the Wheel

My God, Charlotte's Web! Yeah, I heard Siegel-Schwall there, too, circa 75-76. Some of the people in the crowd were drunk, as I recall.

Corky is a great musician and the most technically skilled blues harmonica player alive.
