  • @mmthisisatastyburger Daves got a different style of playing. You really just have to listen to the song and get the rhythm down. It took me about a month to get a really strong rhythmic strum down but now its second nature in almost every song i play

  • ok do you down pick everything in this song? or do u strum upwards on some of the notes in the beginning riff??

  • @mmthisisatastyburger I definitely pick out the first 4-5 notes then it's more of a strum to get a fuller sound.

  • ok ive been trying to learn this for like over an hour now and i just cant get the right strumming.

  • idk if you will agree with this or not but its just a thought. for the part at the end of main riff you should try adding another A note with your pointer finger (on the 5th fret of the E string.) idk if u got a reason for not playin it but just a tip i guess haha

  • You are the man...I've been told it's difficult to teach dave songs but you killed it!

  • wake forest? you a NC boy? quite a small world... been using your vids to help with some of my fav. dmb songs... thank you!

  • man, thanks, for real man, me and my aunt love dave matthews, so when i learn a new song for her (all lessons from you) we both sit outside and sing and jam together man, and that good feeling brought to you be mastamef00's lessons! your love for music makes you post vids up to share the love i respect that, keep lovin my man. and good luck to the deacs man

  • Anyone have any tips for the strumming pattern? I just can't seem to get it down during the intro/verse. It's like he's hitting the right notes/chords and throwing a mute strum in there at the same time...

    Any tips?

  • Thank you so much! I've been having a hard time figuring out how to play the chours!

  • dude its so much easier to learn dmb's songs from your videos than the tabs

  • thanks!

  • I love the hell out of you right now.

  • Very helpful, thank you very much.

  • thanks for the video..you make it look easy

  • nice post's bro...have gotten a good handel on Dave's stuff......thanks for posting!

  • thank you for your instructional videos. very clear and concise teaching method. well done man.

  • Hands down my Dave go to guy. Thanks for the great instructionals, best instructionals compared to any I've seen on youtube. Keep it up man, I'm gonna have the entire Dave repertoire down thanks to you. By the way, took about 20 minutes for me to get this down and only been playing for about 9 months, so props man.

  • hey it's perlljamm made a new acct and I was wondering about the studio version after the first time when you go through everything, do the hammer on with the e chord and then restart, you go through the verse and chorus and, then in the studio version there's this weird kind of solo, can't really put my finger on it. Thanks

  • best instructional vid i've seen in a while good job, got the song down in 10 minutes thanks, and i was wondering if you had anything about the little solo thing that goes on after one of the choruses

  • that dave plays or tim?

  • @PerllJamm ya same here, its on a couple of his live trax, golden gate and Portugal i think...

  • Hey, I was hoping you could specify the strumming pattern for the D-F-D-C part of the chorus, I'm having a lil bit of trouble with it =P

    thanks pal

  • i have some of my own stuff but i'm a bit lazy when it comes to writing the lyrics. eh hee is a weird one for me. seemingly easy but a little difficult in application. i'll upload if i get it down. thanks for the comments

  • DUDE.... you are the man... i havnt seen anyone play dmb songs as accurately and as well as you... and ur a pretty damn good teacher too.... so thanks a hell of a lot man, and keep putting up some vids ;)

  • You are such a bro! Not only can you play jimi thing like Dave himself, but you also attended Wake Forest (greatest school ever). This made my day thank you so much.

  • gotta hold it down for the deacs! As for your comments, you're too kind my friend.

  • Yes indeed, my friend. Class of '02. GO DEACS!!!!

  • I really like your guitar a lot...i've been looking for a cutaway for a while, what's the make?

  • hey man, it's a breedlove AC25/SR+ which has been replaced by breedlove with the C25/SR Concert. Best that i can tell, the main differences are that the new one has laminate sides (mine has solid wood sides) but the top and back are the same (sitka spruce and rosewood). The pickup is different as well (was fishmann, now LR Baggs). You can probably still find mine at guitarcenter stores or on ebay. It's a great guitar. Excellent tonal balance, easy to play - the youtube vids do not do it justice

  • Thanks for the feed back!

  • man i was trying to look all over youtube for this song in a video lesson thanks a bunch, your lesson really helped, and im curious if you could possibly post a lesson on "So Damn Lucky," and thanks for your lessons there awesome

  • should be able to get that for you. I was a little busy watching basketball over the weekend (including watching the pathetic effort of my deacons). I'll try to upload something soon.

  • thanks a lot appreciate it
