  • William Lane Craig destroys yet again. God has truly blessed him.

  • Very interesting. Both are very compelling, but I find the resurrection hypothesis to be less convincing. Perhaps it is my skepticism of miracles, perhaps my Islamic faith, perhaps my ignorance of the subject matter, perhaps all three. I don't know my heart well enough to cite my biases. Yet, while I may fall on the side that says Jesus Christ was not resurrected, I simply cannot say that Professor Craig, or any Christian, is foolish or 'wrong' for believing. It is an understandable view to have

  • @Fett4 The 'God raised Jesus from the dead' proposition is WLC following Occam's Razor. It is the simplest explanation of the various facts as he lays out in this and many other lectures. I have seen the most wild speculations from atheist camps - and each one does try to deal with 1 or 2 facts, but cannot encompass them all: dead, buried by Joe of A., seen by 530+ people, growth of church, conversion of James & Paul. Me: I lead not with WLC but OT prophecy. It gives context for WLC args.

  • The most damning comment Craig makes on Ally's 'taken down alive' position is his theological attack on Allah. If Allah saves Jesus in the final moments before death, Allah has perpetrated the very lies (to a joyous but bamboozled collection of Apostles) that the early church believed. 2000 years of Allah's dupes, we Christians will be thrown into hell by Allah for the sham that this god perpetrated. Perhaps Muslims are comfortable with a chaotic, deceiving god. I am not.

  • @quakerman7 That doesn't logically follow.

  • @quakerman7 I agree. In my opininion WLC won "hands down" & was no contest. Now as WLC correctly pointed out it makes YHWH into being a liar & deceiver IF indeed Jesus did not die on the cross, as the Koran claims. Also the question then arises, who can then worship a LIAR ? Certainly not me !

Rev 21:8 ..all LIARS, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Silly as it seems then YHWH must also be thrown into the Lake of Fire !

  • i pity shabir... he lost this debate. i think this debate should serve as a warning to the muslims who are trying to distort the historical jesus particularly his crucifixion. shabir was not honest enough to accept that death at the crucifixion is a fact. as i see it, it was not only Dr. Craig who lambasted shabir with a very sound argument but also the students who were giving him a challenging question that shabir failed to answer. and for that, congratulations Dr. Craig.

  • @paxcssr Peace be upon! Jesus was a prophet!

  • @RayKalmNiam I recommend Craig, also Ravi Zacharias, Michael Ramsden, John Lennox. The problem with Jesus being only a prophet, was that he said so many blasphemous things that would disqualify him for Prophethood if he were only a man. He fav title 'The Son of Man' was from Daniel 9. When Jesus explained it to the sanhedrin, they tore their clothes and cried, 'Do we need to hear any more blasphemies than this!'

  • @RayKalmNiam thank you. but islam is a hoax...

  • @RayKalmNiam yes, you are right. He was a prophet, but your religion has the wrong Jesus. Jesus existed with the Father before the world began and is the eternal Son of God who manifested in the person of Jesus. The Qu'ran contradicts biblical prophecy and 1st hand eyewitness testimony. Jesus was called First and Last,Beginning and End, Lord of Lords,King of Kings,Bread of Life, Lamb of God,Fountain of Life,Resurrection and the Life,Light of the World,Mighty God,and Prince of Peace. Amen!

  • He looks like David lee Roth.......

  • This was a really good debate.

  • Shabir could be such a powerful worker of god.

  • @nkdboy2011 Shabir is by the Will of God.

  • @nkdboy2011

    He already is...isn't he?

  • @nkdboy2011 he already is my friend, mashallah, may Allah reward him, ameen,

  • this is really good

  • Acts 3:13 The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus. You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, though he had decided to let him go.

There was Jesus messiah (anointed king) and Jesus Barabbas (Son of the Father) Jesus Son of the Father was let go.

  • Shabir & Craig are both the best of the best! I pray Shabir crosses over one day.

  • Shabir is the best by far of the muslim apologists but even he fails against any decent Christian apologist.

  • i have yet to see anyone defeat craig in a debate , shabir ally fell short and clearly lost this debate , i have respect for ally but he needs to do some more homework ...

  • @mawwa89g

All you did was change my question. Both Christians and Muslims believe In Jesus so my problem lies in the fact that God allowed a lie to go on for 500 years without reason or effect and that Muslims disregard the prophecies in the old testament about a savior. That's kind of important..

  • Dr CRAIG is the Best.

    A.+.Ω

  • ALL Read 1 COR 15 and you will see the implications of the kuran denying the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

  • you should put an orthodox to defend christianity!

  • Did The Word of Yahweh (The True God) rise from the grave? of course!

  • This video was very thought provoking. But my opinion lies here: if the Quran is the word of God why would God allow for the only information about Jesus be deceitful for 500 some odd years? I believe it is true that a "maximally great being exists (GOD)" and the only one given me reason to believe in Him is found in Jesus Christ described stupendously perfect in the new testament!

  • @pntblnguitarists

The problem of the Quran here is that it describes quite clearly that God only made it appear to the people who crucified Jesus that they killed him doing so.

So, in deceiving everyone there, God himself (!) started - according to the Quran - this "wrong" faith Jesus' followers so strongly believe in. He didn't just allow it - he actively did it himself.

    That's totally illogical..

  • @mawa89g

Hold on a minute... there were many many Christians who did not uphold to the present predominant dogma of Jesus being God. Trinitarianism as a plausible ism of many isms was much disputed, and many prominent people upheld differing theological contentions. There is strong evidence to suggest Unitarianism survived till as late as the 5th century AD.

Truth has always been shadowed with great darkness, but it only takes a little light to illuminate a room filled with darkness.

  • ALLAH Almighty promise Muslims in the Holly Quran that( the Destiny of Islam to come over all the Religions to supersede them all master every religions never mind the unbeliever might not like it and Enough ALLAH is witness of this fact )

  • @revo1974 come answer the owner of this Channel asshole !

  • Watch real documentary about Chechen fight.

    For ADULTS ONLY!

    h t t p : // u z e v a t e l . r u / ? p = 1 3 6 2(wihout spaces)

  • Here we have two men debating mythologies. What a waste of energy.

  • @revo1974 Yes, they should debate the mythology of "everything came from absolutely nothing" then, I guess. Anyway...

  • @drcraigvideos well said.

  • @drcraigvideos Actually, there is a nice 1 hour video on youtube by Lawrence Krauss explaining how the universe could actually come from nothing(watch?v=7ImvlS8PLIo). Perhaps theists should watch their steps before claiming that science has a blank page on how the universe began.

  • @riceball242 LOL! Maybe you should try listening to the video yourself. Krauss doesn't believe the universe came out of literally nothing.

  • @drcraigvideos Which is precisely why saying "everything came from absolutely nothing" is just a strawman target. There is probably no such thing as "nothing." The laws of cause and effect break down at the Planck quantum level. Subatomic particles can pop into existence at random, then disappear, then reappear again. If the laws of cause and effect no longer apply at the Big Bang, then there is no need to enquire into its cause. Hence, no need for a god or goddess or pantheon of gods.

  • @nyscholartist Uh, yeah, so I guess nobody should complain if a horse just pops into existence then. So, people should be scared that a tiger might pop into existence any time now. Man, you're smart!

  • @drcraigvideos I must interject here. He is saying that individual particles can pop into existence at random. That a whole tiger would pop into existence is very unlikely to happen, much less the whole universe poping into existence. But, with enough time, the chances of anything happening, even a nearly 0% chance, will occur (this includes the big bang). What "nyscholartist" says is quite correct, and no god is neccesary to explain the origins of the universe; one can assume the absence of one

  • @garyGjenkins LOL! Uhm, okay, then you STILL think something can pop into existence out of nothing, like a tiger or whatever. Thank you for conceding my point, smart guy. You're too fast for me.

  • @garyGjenkins You need to learn what the definition of singularity is. If/when the universe was such, there was no "time" that could pass and thus gradually increase the probability of anything.

  • @drcraigvideos never knew Dr. Craig debated muslims.

  • @riceball242

you cannot get something from nothing, even the most well know atheists know that. either it was certain gases in the right combination or thermal pools with particles. they are something

  • @AudiAMGBMW actually you can create something from nothing, God created everything from nothing =)

  • I think we all can mark our own conclusions by figuring the following question:

Question: If Jesus and Muhammad would've met, who would've had God and who would've been the one deceiving? In other words, who was God and who was Satan between the two?.....

  • Satan wants us to be confused about God and his treaty w/ manhood (sinners). Through Jesus, God deals with the gentiles (non-Jews)... There i ABSOLUTELY NO OTHER treaty, not through Muhammad nor any prophet, but Jesus... IF you don't believe this, then I can't help you any more. Only God can help you.

  • Craig: 4:26 "I'm not going to treat the New Testament as an inspired, and therefore, inerrant book"

Ally: 2:03:30 "I start with the Quran and I ask what can the Quran allow for"

Those two statements reflect the difference between Christian and Muslim Scholarship when it comes to history.

  • shabir ally understands the bible better than the most christians. Its amazing, he can quote from any of the 27 revised bibles I think its 28 maybe 65 god knows how many bibles there are, its so distorted it from the truth. It used to be about worshipping 1 god, and now they worship 3, and some how the 3 is 1. man son and holy ghost or the father. I have no idea how you christians believe in this stuff. Honestly. Satan took over you religion and he laughs about it. Satanic symbols and crosses.

  • @yankeemoe "Its amazing, he can quote from any of the 27 revised bibles I think its 28 maybe 65 god knows how many bibles there are, its so distorted it from the truth."

What are you talking about? 27 revised Bibles? The Bible is the Bible. Yeah, some versions use more modern words (replacing "ye" to "you") or making it gender neutral (which I disagree with), but they all say basically the same thing.

  • Don't talk about logic when you're talking about religion, beard-man. Look at your own holy book.

  • @homeofbrokendreams jesus had a beard to idiot!

  • I believe Islam is inspired by Satan.

  • @brantk81 than your believe is incorrect :)

  • Comment removed

  • @brantk81 That is one of the most ignorant statement I have ever heard, Read these verses from the Qur'an (Too many to fit in the Comment): [036:060] [035:006] [004:060] [004:076] [004:117] [004:083] [024:021] [019:044] [017:053] [017:064] [004:120] [005:090] [005:091] [006:043] [016:098] [007:201] [007:027] [006:142]

There are many more, but hopefully that's convincing enough to realize how stupid your statement was.

  • christians should watch this debate.

Part 1 - Craig Evans vs. Bart Ehrman Debate: Does the New Testament Misquote Jesus?

  • He was wrong at 5:53 that why the microphone start crying lol

  • @hamood1234fool

You're just ignorant.. You better pay attention to the arguments and see that Christ's risen..

  • Then, to take the line that Jesus only appeared to be dead is a very desperate argument indeed. Besides the brutality of crucifixion, there is also the fact that the Romans were professional killers and also, if a Roman prisoner got away, the roman soldier will have to pay for his own live.

Finally, he resorts to taking the Quran as authorative on Jesus, even though it was written 6 centuries later. Shabir was clearly on the defensive, because God has given undeniable evidence of the truth.

  • 1) Shabir seems to be bend on the idea that the gospels "developed" by embellishment. However, this ignores the fact that the apostles claimed to be eye witnesses who were prepared to suffer and die for their testimony. If the resurrection of Christ is an embellishment, then we are expected to believe that the apostles knowingly died for a lie for some unknown motive. Also, Luke begins his gospel by stating that he has done thorough research. I doubt that Mark was his only source.

  • @Hannodb1961

Part 1 - Craig Evans vs. Bart Ehrman Debate: Does the New Testament Misquote Jesus?

  • 0:58:00 - Shabir sounds like a Jehova witness here. Jehova Witnesses twists Jesus's words from "I tell you, today you will be in Paradise with me" to "I tell you today, you will be in paradise with me" in order to prevent this inconvenient text from messing with their theology. Likewise, Shabir is imposing interpretations on a text, which the text does not imply, in order to try and reconcile it with the fact of the crucifixion. Not a very unconvincing strategy.

  • @Hannodb1961 How interesting it is that he accuses independent eyewitnesses of embellishment, when there is absolutely no source, whether it be through any numbered extension from a witness, for the Islamic beliefs about Jesus and the history of the Israelites as told in the Quran.

  • @Lukecash12 More to the point, miracle embellishments would be a mechanism for adding more authority to a teacher and therefore he's doctrine: The doctrine can survive without the embellishments. Christianity can survive, for instance, if Jesus did not walk on the water, or Islam if Mohammed did not ride to heaven in a fiery chariot. But the resurrection can not be an embellishment, because that IS the core doctrine of Christianity. Without it, there's nothing to embellish.

  • @Hannodb1961 ..... actually there's more than what you refer as the doctrine of christianity..... The Jews cannot understand yet, but the new testament is only a continuation of the old testament.... One testament is the treaty of God w/ his chosen people (Jews), and the other testament is the treaty of God himself with the gentiles (non-Jews)...

  • Good debate. WLC does it!

  • crislam hahaha!!!

  • this debate should not be on the resurrection but on the crucifixion which is the one historical thing we know about jesus which the koran denies

  • Two great speakers; awesome debate

  • @damildlyshreddah amen to that

  • The Quran is way too late to debate or even to determine that Jesus was only Assumed into Heaven. The New Testament is written within a lifetime of Jesus' death. This is one of the best historical evidences we have in our day on the life of Jesus and the main fact that it's impossible to state He was only Assumed instead without 1st being Resurrected. This Muslim is stating a bad assumption against the facts of the New Testament and the Testimonies of the Disciples who wrote the New Testament.

  • fail @ 6:00 lolz

    However, well done Craig!

  • Vendo um cara quenem esse Muslim eu fico me questionando sobre a origem dele... Que brincadeira é essa...

  • this was so intersrting for me i hope jesus is rise from dead because then all things will be made beautiful also for muslims as jesus die for them also...i soo hopejesus is rise from grave cause i love him..

  • @SuperKiera22 And He loves you... :)

  • Get ready for resurrection 2012!!!

  • 29:00 This is one of the problems with Islam in general. If it can be accepted that God was not able to communicate His intent regarding Jesus, and His communication had been obfuscated by way of confusion, what does this say about God? It says God is incompetent. One must need embrace an incompetent God to be a Muslim. How will this look on Judgment Day? Let me recommend the video "why you should not be a Muslim"

  • Very appropriate debate for Easter!

  • Interesting debate!

  • I'm honestly unbelievably baffled at the illogical reasoning to a man/womens mind after being told "its a fact in history that Jesus Christ was Crucified" and yet they still choose to deny it because of a book that came 600 years after the fact.. Just simply astonishing!

Christians, we have 2. 3 billion unreasonable Muslims to pray for!

  • Indeed Jesus rose from the dead.

  • Comment removed

  • muslims can't give us their story about jesus at the same time they talk against history which is in christianity side and they have seven Interpretations or more about the crucifixion of jesus from quran which prove that muslims dont know what they are talking about !

at the same time quran have more problems with mary because he mixed between her and mary the sister of moses , in quran the virgin father and mother is the father of moses Amram (imran )

The Quran is not God word

  • Great debate on both sides

  • This is why I love Dr. Craig. He tends to quietly and hilariously insult somebody lol

  • The women are essential to the story and they are not credible. The women had been afflicted with evil spirts and demons. [Luke 8:2] We would say they were mentally ill and not competent witnesses.

Jesus only showed himself post mortem to his own followers even though he promised his generation that he would show himself after his supposed resurrection. [Matthew 12:39-40]

  • @ChristShepherd Luke 8:2 - And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,

Albeit you take scripture out of context, you give rise to a point. If you had watched the debate you would have learned about the test of "embarrassment". Thus, realizing that women discovering the empty tomb, supports the event, rather than discredit it.

Matthew 12:39-40 is inapplicable here. Look up 1 Corinthians 15:4-8.

  • @ChristShepherd btw - You've found the right channel, but wrong debate. This debate is between 2 monotheistic believers.

  • 6 people who disliked this are ignorant muslims.

  • 5:48

    Epic feedback.

  • Though he didn't win this debate Shabir Ally is perhaps one of the best opponents WLC has had. He was respectful, presented a fairly good argument, and even gave Craig a mug. Despite what the New Atheists say from what I have experienced with them personally and seen from this video Muslims are actually some of the nicest people I have ever met. Its a shame that they get such a bad wrap in the media.

  • I'm no scholar, but I think the belief that Jesus was the son of God came from Jesus claim to the be son of God.

I know, it's a wacky theory. But it might work.

  • @TheSeanWilson LOL you made me snort, thanks, I needed that.

  • @TheSeanWilson But what did son of God mean in that contexts and at that time?

  • @Nazam44 It probably didn't mean "not the son of God".

  • @Nazam44 Seriously, statements like "The father and I are one," and "If you've seen me, you've seen the Father" make it quite difficult to wiggle out of Jesus' claim to be God.

Furthermore, having been accused of this "blasphemy", Jesus doesn't denounce this claim to be God, even to the point of a brutal, bloody, excruciatingly painful death on a Roman cross. If Jesus isn't God, he certainly doesn't have the character to be God's holy messenger.

  • Why are they always debating Jesus resurrection? How about they debate something about the quran for once? Perhaps why Mary, sister of Aaron and Moses, is mistaken for Mary, mother of the Messiah. Or taqiyya in the quran being against the nature of God. Or any of the other number of things that muhammed got wrong about the Torah & Gospels. A "Is the God of the Bible the same God of the quran?" debate is in order. I'd like to see Ali explain the contradictions in the quran for once.

  • @TheYAHnitarian I would like to see similar debates as well. But this being a Christian Apologetics site, we would have to find them elsewhere.

Perhaps someone who knows of such debates can tell us of a site where we can find them.

  • @TheYAHnitarian the hadeeth of the prophet answers this verse. the hadeeth tells of a

man asking the same question you are and the prophet then answering him what the quran meant. go check it out. thanks

  • @TheYAHnitarian I see your point, but if you can win the resurrection argument, you basically destroy Islam altogether. It's shooting for the heart rather than the arm.

  • This was a great debate! Dr. Craig did a fantastic job of delivering the truth. Shabir Ally earned my respect, but not Islam. Muhammed clearly had no knowledge of Jesus, or the New Testament.

The biggest disappointment in this debate was McGill University. It's one of the best universities in Canada, in the core of downtown Montreal, and has a nice theater. They should have had the debate there, and invited the public, like all the Ivy league schools Dr Craig visits.

  • @DoYerBest

Though the opinion about debate(s) is a highly subjective issue driven by your religious affiliation,I must say that "Shabbir Ally vs William Craig" debates are the standard of how inter-faith dialogue/debate should be inducted.

I have great respect for both speakers.

  • good job again

  • Craig charming presentation convinced the people more than the Muslim man!

  • Amen! He is risen!

  • @TheGenuineChristian He is risen indeed!!

  • @TheGenuineChristian

    God says

    68. They (Jews, Christians and pagans) say: "God has begotten a son (children)." Glory be to Him! He is Rich (Free of all wants). His is all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. No warrant you have for this. Do you say about God what you know not

    70. A brief enjoyment they have in this world! - and then unto Us will be their return, then We shall make them taste the severest torment because they used to disbelieve, deny and challenge His sings.
