If you guys want to try paddle boarding you should start with the NSP board. I tried that one the first time and i fell in love. the the next weekend i tried a Ohana and fell. The NSP are sturdier. And if you live near the panhandle in Florida you should check our GUSU. Check them out on Facebook.

I've been surfing now for 20 years and i surf anything from traditional shortboards, fishs, eggs and log style noseriders. I just started SUP'ing and i got to say it's a lot of fun and very relaxing to do. On the small days i'll go SUP around the beach breaks and catch some small fun waves but when the surf is pumping there is nothing better than a real surfboard.

Surfers should not knock something because it's different but i do agree kook SUPers are very dangerous.

Just imagine if Laird didn't catch that wave a Chopes. The SUP'ers would still be roller blading. Now I pull up to an old spot and see SUP'ers out in the lineup? It's sickening. It is legal outside of the lineup or any place that "real" surfers don't surf. But keep it where it belongs - away from surfers because don't kid yourself, it's not surfing.

My little brother an I have just go our first SUP boards. The first time we went out we got crushed! Big waves, tons of wind. Research and pratice is fine, learning to surf is fine but don't think that you can go out there if you can't keep yourself safe and indanger other water users. I'm a kitesurfer by the way.

thanks! just bought a SUP board on Craigslist. Went out tonight on the Navasink River near Sandy Hook, NJ. I'm looking as this as a way to workout and maybe fly fish from. i guess I'll try surfing on it too, never surfed before though.

If you want to paddle around in flat water or on the river fine, but if you're going to take this out in the surf, at least learn how to surf the regular way be become proficient at it before taking one of these boats out there. respect the others and you wont have any problems man,, one thing i have to agreed whit you is that surfboards are a lot funnier, and i recomend that the SUPer should try surf before but theres nothing wrong about SUP. just try surf first and decide if you want to do both or only one, but respect the other people on the water at all time, dont be a kook, don't disrepect other people just for do something you don't like..and don't drop in (thats specially for SUPers) learn the rules for surfing.
