  • i got chills :)

  • Gave me chills :D

  • just wow. this is well done on all levels, and i mean arrangement, soloist, basses, tenors, the balance of everyone combined, quality of singing, interpretation, dynamics, everything. it's such a dychotomy with the faces so young, amazing

  • Amazingly great, I'm learning this in choir. That soloist was great.

  • That was really good!! Especially the soloist, he was great!

  • so pretty it made me cry. ;0

  • @kitt3n4rmh3ll

I understand completely. It happens to me every time I listen to it. It truly speaks to my soul

  • Great, well done this is excellent.

  • That's the power of MENVOICES!

  • This gives me goosepimples!!!

    Those basses are beastly!!!

    And that soloist is phenomonal!!!

It's rare to see such a strong and balanced men's choir, but here it is!! :D

  • Not bad for a bunch of white guys.

  • I like the arrangement and well done to the Soloist (I guess he would be a 2nd Tenor @rootedinfath3). But I do have to admit, i would have loved to hear that version with a base singer - second base, would be best. Anyway, I enjoyed it thoroughly

  • This is absolutely amazing. I sing in a choir and I aspire to be half as good as you guys are. In my soprano voice ofcourse:)

  • that soloist gives me half chub

  • Proud <3

  • WOW, that soloist!!!

  • Wow! I really enjoyed this! I was pleasantly surprised and would of never guessed this was high school choir. Man you all should post more videos.

  • WOW, this is a high school choir?

The basses and the soloist are particularly impressive. And the sound is very clean. I don't hear a lot of noise or bad notes, except one in the piano near the middle of the piece. Good sforzando and pianissimo.

  • awesome

  • Looks like the director had too many matzos for Passover.

  • I'm doing this at my schoolin soprano. I'm doing one of the solos. We are only in th grade though

  • I'm so glad I got to see this in person.

I'm still moved when I listen to it, I remember sitting in the pews stunned.

  • I am plesantly surprised that these young men sound this good they are excellent. A High School Choir i now know that there is still hope for our youth

  • I couldn't move to a next video without saying something. this was excellent! Wasn't actually expecting it to be so good. God bless you guys. Was especially impressed with the soloist. Beautiful voice.

  • I just personally thing men are better singers.

  • haha my all girls choir ambiance is singing this its so fun.....

  • Im doing this with HCYC next saturday :') I love this so much (Y)

  • Wow--gives ya chills. Wonderful soloist too!

  • so pretty.

  • Lmao at the bass 2 that has to look down everytime it gets semi low to hit the notes! lol Straining like that looks dumb and obviously is not his true range.

  • @anatomydude06 lmao so true, but since they gave him the note, I guess he has to sing it, and to reach lower notes in the chest, you need to drop your jaw and lower you're head.

  • Amazing soloist, wow! There are some really lovely voices in the choir. Great work!!

  • Whoever the soloist is has the most perfect and pure yet powerful voice for this.

  • I can't even begin to explain how much this moved me..

    So awesome.

  • very nice armony

  • those Bass 2s are beast

  • Gives me chills!!!!

  • wow beautiful! im gonna sing this song for choir to! but this is my first year performing!or even being in choir!

  • that was perfect guys!

  • amazing how my class pretty much started everything CHS Choir is 2day! I'm an original Vivace! kid & i was the 1st Jester! A Cappella 96was 1st to get all 1's..& earn a set at state...in San Antonio....yep...bet London was foggy...thhpt

  • there's a Varsity Men's Choir now? their own choir or the guys from

A Cappella? Twas the case in the 90's when we were called Select Men's Chorus.for 2 performances. Nice sounds guys...u def saw more 1's than us boys did in '97...granted that was the first time we competed as a Men's Chorus..selectively.

  • This chorus and this arrangement (including piano) have done a marvelous job of capturing the spirit of this piece. This IS a dark song- just read the words! This is NOT a toe-tapper- this is a lament. Livelier? 102?? Bite your tongue!!

Director (please tell us who you are!), chorus, Kevin, pianist- Thanx to all of you for giving this to us all.

  • This is awesomeee are you guys from London are just performed there? My mixed choir is going to Italy next year can't wait.

  • Yo, the soloist in this piece was freakin sick b! Well done boys.

  • Beautiful solist!

  • I love this song alot. Oh, and by the way, that soloist has one hell of a pair of lungs haha. You guys sounded awesome.

  • I really liked this. They voices are so so deep to be so young. Really good!!!

  • best rendition of this song i've heard so far. that was amazing =]

  • Good voices needs more emotion!!

  • Anyone noticed the only woman here is leading the men? :D

  • Excuse me, do you know what rendition the score was- the composer and what parts- Bass Baritone, Tenor? I'd love to do this with my choir!

  • @rootedinfaith3 - This arrangement is by Moses Hogan. It can be purchased from most choral sheet music outets online. It was arranged in TTBB.

  • @BroChevin

    molto bello!!!

    complimenti

  • @rootedinfaith3

    Sorry, but I don't

  • Absolutely stunning.

    Keep it up.

  • soloist has SOUL! The arrangement was weird b/c the piano kept going in and out and just when you thought it wouldnt come back it did which was reallly weird. But where is this choir from?

  • @shantiponks Why the **ll are you bashing me. I was happy and made a happy comment. jerk.

  • Excellent who cares what colour they are you guys rock!!

  • Not enough Emotion seemed monotonous and voices didn't seem to blend well

  • LOVIN THE BASSO! tenor need the blend better at the begining..soloist was great! great job guys!

  • Comment removed

  • This was really awesome! The soloist was really good as well. The only thing I would have liked better was to have a tenor on the "Let my people go" solos at the end. The falsetto was lovely, but I would have preferred a tenor singing it full voice.

  • awesome! nice guys

  • Very impressive!

  • PERFECTION, obviously good leadership

  • soloist is incredible

  • got to say this was awesome............

  • Wow. This is very good. The soloist has a great voice.

  • 2:45 is the best

  • i love the soloist

  • pretty awsome!

  • Excellent performance, but why are some of the guys in the front moving from side to side? and some of their stances seem a little off

  • Superb guys.

  • what state are these guys from?

  • Coppell, TX

  • Now that was awsome. Had to listen again. And then again. T A L E N T...

  • Just beautiful

  • they're cute and good

  • Me encanta. No me canso de escucharles. Tiene mucha fuerza, conmovedor. xxx

  • Listen to those basses beastin'. This is awesome and I'm SO happy to find this version. Heard too many jazzy/gospel version that just don't have the impact this does. Who is the composer?

  • Moses Hogan.

  • Tres impressed! What wonderful young musicians! This is very inspiring and I LOVE Moses Hogan's arrangements.

  • this is a weird rendition of the song.

i've never heard it this way. This leans away from the gospel roots and toward a peice made for a traditional chorus. it's different, but i have to go with a bouncier one.

  • Holy shit that is a good soloist. Kudos!

  • You guys are so good!!!!! This is one of my fav choral pieces

  • ah this makes me miss you guys so much!

  • Crying from being so moved. This is absolutely beautiful.

  • High school? Damn! that kid sure has a strong clean baritone voice.

  • who? the soloist? if so he is a tenor 1

  • No my friend, too deep to be a tenor. He's clearly a baritone. Listen carefully again, no tenor have that color in his voice. Besides His highest notes are falsettos, a tenor can hit those note without using his falsetto voice. Remember his is a teenager his voice will get deeper.

  • who is ur friend bc i am in this chorus

  • or higher

  • i'm still going to have to say tenor; i think his technique gives him the "color"

  • Oh come on. He's young yet to sing those top notes in full voice plus there's always the possibility that he was making a stylistic/color choice. And there ARE some tenors who never achieve the High C let alone higher. This young man is clearly a talented young tenor. I hope he keeps singing!!

  • By the way, my teenaged baritones DREAM about being able to hit an F# like that. Teen baris, in my experience at least, haven't yet grown into that range. I have adults baritones that can reach those notes on "good" days or a limited number of times in one sitting. So...yeah. Another reason that kid's a tenor, as if his classmate's word wasn't enough, lol! :-)

  • I'm a baritone and I can hit a High G# but I can't hit a low F. what makes a tenor or a baritone is not what notes he can hit but the "texture" of his voice. the difference between a tenor and a baritone can be heard in their middle notes. The kid IS A TEENAGER. HIS VOICE IS STILL DEVELOPING. His texture is gonna get darker. So you say he's a tenor I say he's a good baritone. Who cares. So what. The kid can sing. 'Nuf said. I'm fuckin' sick and tired of all of your replies. So stop it. Enough!

  • My my...testy testy...well if you're so "fuckin' sick and tired" of all our replies, then here's a suggestion: REMOVE your "fuckin'" comment!

  • I am in this chorus and Kevin (the soloist) is def a tenor his lowest note is like a couple notes below middle C. and his tone of singing is a tenor anyways not just because he is young but its how his voice is and im not trying to start the argument again I am just saying..

  • great basses...!!! they are very good!!!

  • Great Job!!

  • Mmmmm I love those basses!

  • your welcome! haha

  • I loved the tenor! Needs to work a little, but in some places sounds just great.

  • Needs lyrics. Awesome job though. Sounds very dark.

  • This is really scary sounding!

  • For skinny white guys they sure have deep voices.

  • Its not their weight that decides their tessatura, its their nasal cavity :-) just a fun fact :-P

  • @HindsightPOV

Sorry that it blew your mind that only the fat black guys out there can sing. They can also commit all sorts of crimes, also.

Something tells me that you're either typing on a stolen computer or at the downtown library, with the first one being more believable. A library is one of the last places you would find a thug unless it, of course, was after hours. Idiot!

  • @HindsightPOV

whats does the skin color and body size have to do with voice?

  • Excellent job. Good tenor. For similiar songs see: Morehouse Glee Club

  • Our mens choir in HS sang this. Such a beautiful song! The solo in the piece is absolutely wonderful!

  • good job, but the soloist could be a little more mature sounding in some spots......but good job over all

  • No need for the piano

  • invece è troppo bella perchè le hai sentite quelle che ci sono in giro su you tube c'è da mettersi le mani nei capelli

  • a me sembra un po' statica...

  • it's wonderful

  • WOW....! it is awesome! ... great, great great!

    Greetz from Germany

  • we sing that song... only my choir is mostly girls and our version is lively i think its like its like 102 soft rock... sonthing like that.... good dynamics and vocals though

  • Wow, what voices and what presence! Great job and great video.

  • My favorite rendition of this song, by far.

  • Wow...what a performance. They all have such beautiful singing, and the tone and timing of the entire song is flawless! Truely a form of art :)

  • beautiful

  • Magnífica la interpretación y los arreglos.

  • Hmm this interpretation is decent, but I prefer to hear this song in more of a bass tone thats just my opinion

  • who's the arranger for this song?

  • Moses Hogan

  • thank you very much :)

  • hm

    ironic

  • Great.. Solo is very nice and all is wonderful.

  • 1)amazing solo

  • Never heard such a beautiful performing of this masterpiece. Congratulations!!, congratulations to all those male voices!!!..and overall, her conductor!!!..SHE IS GREAT!!!! 10 stars!

  • Such mature voices for young men.

  • I could only wish that the basses and baritones in my choir didn't fail so much so we could do this song...

  • The only crit I would have is you guys are swaying a lot.

But your sound makes up for it. ;D

    Ilovethissss~

  • i just started tearing up

  • The soloist is amazing! I wish we had a guy that could sing like him (really any of these guys) in my choir!

  • This sounds like "MEN OF ARISTOCRATS" they have many songs as or better than this

  • i know the soloist is fuckin hot and sexy love him

  • Overall good.. the 1st tenors were a lil weak but it was a good performance

  • lol

  • Quite good; nice work! y'all display expression and emotion well, too.

  • that boy is fantastic !

  • I'm in love with the soloist

  • look up this song for american idol its soooo funny!!!

  • dag, ya'll white boys arnt bad! (not being racist lol

  • Awesome!

  • Awesome! Your basses are great.

  • That was fantastic!

  • Kevin is awesome

  • WOW!

  • Amazing job. Congratulations for leader and all the participants.

  • I'm so impressed.

    Cant believe you're a HS-Choir.

  • Perfect Perfect the solist come from heaven lol

  • Absolutely gorgeous! My choir is learning this song now and I must say that you guys were simply incredible. And the soloist has a tremendous voice.

  • The video is amazing,

but it was just...awe inspiring for those who were there in person. My school was there watching you perform after us,

and we were at the banquet,

though I could have sworn your school got the gold, but I much have been mistaken.

We got the Spirit of London award that time around,

I only wish we were going back next year.

    =]

  • all our other choirs got gold but mens (this choir) got silver it was so ridiculous

  • I loooove this song and you guys did i very well. Great job, soloist. X3

  • That was inspiring

  • Hmmm I think this is the best version on youtube... Although I think I have heard better. Still good though. If you have any suggestions of other versions please enlighten me.

  • Very goood job all of you. We are doing this song too. It is very chilling. Im in bass and it is awsome great solo.

  • Oh my goodness! Thank you!

  • the soloist voice is so strong. really good

and unison you guys sound great!!!

  • is there a guy singing a DOUBLE low B? is so thats awesome

  • wow you guys sound good!

Almost as good as clear creek!

    love the solo, great tone.

  • heavenly voice kevin :)

  • wow... d solo is gud. ur choir is so freakin great!

  • Hey everyone, I'm the guy singing the solo on the video, and I just wanted to thank everyone who posted. It really means a lot to all of us

  • you guys were robbed!!! I never get tired of listening to this song. Your choir is amazing as well as your director. I love listening to men's choirs and you guys are one of the best. Good Luck in whatever you do, but you guys can all sing!!!! :)

  • I love this song...I think that the soloist did an amazing job. He truly has an amazing gift. The ability for the choir to make the music flow, crescendo, and decrescendo like that shows how much pride they take in their singing. I loved listening to this song and I cant wait to hear more from them.

  • very, very nice

    Who are they?
