Sorry I can't comment on that; I replaced the front shocks right away because they leaked bad. Since I have the Big Bores I've had no issues (and the handling rocks).

did you at any point have to really stiffen the front shocks? on mine after build, it kept wanting to do stoppies every time i braked...i just want to make sure i didn't screw something up balance wise.

I honestly don't know, but the brands that stood out from the research I made were:

HPI Racing, Hot Bodies (by HPI), Team Associated (Associated Electrics), OFNA, Losi, Traxxas and Kyosho.

I can't say for sure for other brands, but from what I've seen the ones listed here should be safe bets.
