They cut him open?? According to many other botfly videos I've seen, you don't have to cut someone open to remove a botfly larvae. You just need to use Vasoline or tape to cut off the larvae's air supply to kill it, then you can remove it with tweezers by pinching the skin and grabbing it's air periscope that sticks upwards towards the surface.

Also, this was an infection, which means that the creature was housing in that particular area, keeping it free of blood and tissue, which means it would've only bled a little in the begining and stopped.
