  • he looks kinda cute in those glasses :)

  • Before the corporate takeover of everything communication.

  • this was .. baboom

  • I'm a diabetic....so its become tradition to sing "Heroin" as "Insulin"

Few of my friends get the source...but its funny right lol?

  • @deathbypowerglove no, cool. I have my own called 'muh muh my makita' [name the tune]

The only reason he became the story was he lived it and that upset the normal 'don't talk about it' with the others that didn't flat out deny they used or other things, but they also didn't come out and say yeah, they did. I'm not putting him down for this, but he was more famous for other than music parts of his life, the few catchy tunes that made it on some radio, propelled him there to be the story.

  • lou reeds the man

  • It was hilarious how matter of factly he said "It was about taking heroin"

  • then Fuck you = du bist Niemand

    übersetzer fucked up

  • without the velvet underground i wouldnt be where i am not today

  • Pull your Tongue out of his arsehole

  • Velvet Underground were real artists from a real era, not the fake manufactured pop culture we have today.

  • hes. so. cooooooooooooooooo

  • i like the way he's just smart assing this guy

  • He was trying to shake up the what? booshwa? wtf?

  • @NightRanger77 Bourgeoisie. Look it up.

  • The Doors not anti-establishment? YouTube vids:

Jim Morrison (The Doors) gets arrested in Miami 1969

Jim Morrison gets arrested at New Haven ( Dec. 1967 )

I love the Velvets wall of sound, & many of their slices of life were not on the Doors' menu, but by the same token I don't listen to it to get fired up politically, nor do I expect to be inspired to triumph, & the Doors served those things up lavishly

PS Hear the song the quote below is from at

The Doors - Five to One

  • I need to start making money real money

  • Ugly man.

  • I like the way he explained his Heroin song.

  • hahaha he looks like a little chimpanzee with shades on.

  • @astroboirap most of the hip hop artists you seem to care for so much look like apes in their respect and i don't think they've ever written anything that come close to the body of work lou reed produced over the last 45 years. he's ugly, yes, but he's a genius and is known to be a very difficult, if not arrogant man. you wouldn't tell that in front of him.

  • @mellobbello are you saying negro's look like apes? tut tut. anyway i have a friend who actually told loopy lou his "photography" is no better than the photo's you see on flickr and that they dont merit a gallery.

  • @astroboirap in fact i believe lou reed is known to be an author and a musician, and he has hobbies, just like everybody. thing is, you happen to see a lou reed video, and you don't care for what he's done, because you like hip hop and you are a total idiot. you just think lou's ugly, and that's it.

mind you, i'm not going to post 'hey you're ugly' in the ugliest ugly contest of hip hop gangsta-rap, my friend

  • @mellobbello hobbies dont merit him having his sub-par work shown in a gallery. im afraid i dont like hip hop, once again you are mistaken (no real surprise there).

  • @astroboirap true. v.i.p. always have this attention on their private life and hobbies even when they're vain and meaningless. just as your comment about an artist.

and yes, i tend to confuse hip hop and rap and gangsta and all that bad, bad stuff. shame on me.

  • all hail Lou

  • i would like to write him a letter but i know he'd hate that

  • ...Y'know, watching this... Robert Downey Jr. looks like him.

  • @LionheartMachinima he dosen't look like him, he sounds like him

  • Lou Reed is my idol <3 Fucking love him.

  • Bourgeoisi, Lou.

  • he takes the turth look at jackson likes to fuck boys but has money and hesa big shot

  • you have money your a big shot, you dont have money, fuck you

  • you think they had a choice

  • always thought that The VU was alot more darker and "real" during that era then The Doors, for all the talk ofThe Doors being dark, they were esentially a pop band that wrote one song bout incet and some 40 years later they still censor the word "fuck" out of the End, so how anti establishment could they really had been?

  • i think the censorship was a decision of the record company.but you re right vu is the better band.

  • @chriskoob "The old get old, and the young get stronger / May take a week but it may take longer / they got the guns, but, we got the numbers / gonna win, yeh, we're taking over / Come on!" - Jim Morrison.

& Lou is sitting there being St Peter denying heroin 3 times. Pht. VU were dark inasmuch as they were gloomy. The Doors did not just show the darkness, they showed the way to the light.

  • Lou, Maureen and Doug, no John, are reuniting at the New York Public Library to discuss a new book about The Velvet Underground and art. It's sold out. And I got 3 tickets. Just wanted to brag because I can. I've been waiting for this for ages.

  • Velvet Underground are the best underground band of all time.

  • @bigdunk9

    Stop being mean

  • @bigdunk9 NO they are the best BAND of all time

  • @bigdunk9 I agree most violently! :D

  • @bigdunk9 They aren't underground at all you dolt.

  • @Purplepen123783 They were until B list celebrities began wearing VU and Nico shirts. Dolt? Good one.

  • @bigdunk9 Wrong. Get your facts straight you flush.

  • @Purplepen123783 There's no facts to prove or disprove it. However, you can try if you want. You may prove me wrong, being the hip, individual thinking soul you are.

  • @bigdunk9 Why do you have to be such a full house? If you knew anything you would be cookin' the burger.

  • @Purplepen123783 Speak in riddles, it's very cool ;)

  • @bigdunk9 I am different, I am a starving artist. You just seem to be a four of a kind dolt.

  • @Purplepen123783 Starving artist? I prefer pretentious moron, has a better ring to it.

  • @bigdunk9 Ah, you are just a simple two pair kind of guy. You know what I did for a class project once? I read half of Crime & Punishment and wrote a 5 page essay on it. Can you do that?

  • @Purplepen123783 Was it a good essay? And no, I could never amount to your level of intelligence.

  • @bigdunk9 The essay was alright at best. I feel like you are a Pavement fan, am I right?

  • @Purplepen123783 Fair enough, not too bad considering you read half of it. Ah, so so I suppose, Slanted And Enchanted is a pretty good album. I like all sorts The Velvet Underground probably still are my favourite band but I've strayed into other types of music. How about yourself?

  • @bigdunk9 I actually have been listening to Blondie believe it or not. You also seem like a Zombies fan.

  • @Purplepen123783 Hit and miss, they have a some very good songs mind you.

  • @bigdunk9 You are a good man bigdunk9.

  • @Purplepen123783 Ain't too bad yourself purplepen.

  • @bigdunk9 best band period.

  • @bigdunk9 They shouldn't be underground man, their songs rape anything that's made today.

  • @bigdunk9 you can probobly remove the word underground from that sentence

  • I don't see how you guys can go on about Nihilism right beneath a video where Lou Reed is saying: "Our music was rock, it had POWER. The message was visceral... it didn't sit there, it went out to you!"

Go Lou! Go on with your tinted glasses and your leather jacket man. It's not often he says this much in an interview.

  • Everyone cares about what they love.

    Junkies love heroin,

so that is what is true for them.

  • Where do you think ability will take you really? That's a question that I feel a nihilist would answer with one word: "Nowhere". Comparing a nihilist with a "retard" (as you obviously did) is obviously a defensive mechanism for you (your ego).

  • Why would you apply any moral precept to masochism? But you're right, the Golden Rule virtually never works.

  • Comment removed

  • NO NO NO his not pro or against moron. he did not degrade it or glorify like reed said he just prested it to you how it is to him. devoid of morality. all this pro shit U have imposed. remember that

  • Aldous huxley one of the great young British mind (before VU) made a comment about heroine . "Who lives longer: the man who takes heroin for two years and dies, or the man who lives on roast beef, water, and potatoes till ninety-five? One passes his twenty-four months in eternity. All the years of the beef-eater are lived only in time."

  • Comment removed

  • Have u heard Bowie space oddity ? kind of like reed heroine

  • Comment removed

  • No it goes in hand with the nihilistic view that the world is devoid of meaning and truth . in which case red is nit attaching a morale outlet to it , if he did he himself would acknowledge the hypocrisy. its very philosophical in a sense. i guessing your a very idealistic person

  • Beautiful ! Do you have the exact reference for this quote ? i'd love to look it up !

  • Reed is the greatest icon in the history of the universe

  • Yes I also find it slightly epic when Venus in Furs begins to play.

  • It bothers me how fake his laugh is. I don't think he's ever really laughed...

  • "what do you get from that?" - "well usually a reaction" haha typical

  • i get no kick from shempagne - thats ella =D

  • excellent and heroin isn't for or against heroin i love that about it it is very simple with "in your face" sort of lyrics that say how things are exaclty as Lou states near the end. At the time his lyrics were there as a statement almost and he showed many things exactly as they are

  • Comment removed

  • Muppet. What do you expect from him? Try it and think about it yourself if you're so interested.

  • Does anyone else find it slightly epic when Venus In Furs begins to play?

  • Lou just speaks poetry.

  • Do you have the full interview m8?
