I think VC could accept a smaller role if he desired to win a championship.

But the game isn't only about offense. It's 50/50 btw offense and defense. And Jason Kidd is a way better defender than Nash, while Nash is only slighty better offensivly than Kidd. That's why Kidd is the best PG of the last decade.
