a lot of Kobe's game is based on older (around age 32) Jordan, when his athleticism was fading. and Kobe has nearly perfected that style and he has a lot to show for it. by the way, I think Kobe is a little more athletic than Jordan was at that age.

The reason why kobe didn't average what MJ did is because he wasn't the 1st option in LA until shaq left.. Shaq was averaging close to 30ppg and was the 2nd option shaq was their go-to guy. He simply didn't need to carry the team in scoring like michael did. After shaq left he average 35 ppg in 2006 and had back to back seasons with more than 30 points in 07
